T-Mobile LTE & Network Discussion
WiWavelength replied to CriticalityEvent's topic in General Topics
Per T-Mobile's own example map in its most recent investors presentation, it is not deploying band 12 on every site. Members here at S4GRU already pointed that out -- probably even in this thread. AJ- 4,425 replies

Yes, like "the small Chrysler." Damn, that thing is a boat, which probably got 11 mpg. AJ -

I honestly wonder, though, how much of a drag "unlimited" data users are on Sprint's speed metrics. That may be something Sprint is not able to overcome in a race for the speed crown. Look at the facts. Because of band 41, Sprint has greater LTE bandwidth deployed in many metros than does either VZW or AT&T. Or, at the very least, Sprint still has greater LTE bandwidth deployed on a per capita basis. But Sprint also has so many more "unlimited" data users. And while we will not broach the data "abuser" debate here, we know that Sprint "unlimited" data users are not reticent about using data, unlike their VZW and AT&T capped data counterparts. The speed demons and average consumers may just want to see what median data speeds they can expect in a given market. RootMetrics provides that. However, the network admins and wireless nerds may rather focus on overall network utilization per market. Thus, a better market based metric for that could be median data speeds multiplied by median data usage. AJ

With the recent update to the standings, Robert should be afraid and looking over his shoulder, though. If the minimum "post appearances" were lowered from 300 to 200, this would be the top 5: jadedchameleon 1.827 S4GRU 1.808 WiWavelength 1.709 GoBigRed79 1.651 tommym65 1.590 And if it were lowered to only 100, well, I will just leave this overwhelming stat: jeremyandrew 2.406AJ

In honor of Spring Training and March Madness, here is the requested update to the S4GRU standings. Without further ado... S4GRU 1.808 WiWavelength 1.709 tommym65 1.590 mikejeep 1.528 kyle_4thousand 1.482 kineticman 1.306 kdupes 1.261 Mr.Nuke 1.183 The Dave 1.164 JeffDTD 1.159 And, for reference, here is the first installment of the S4GRU standings: AJ

Nobody can beat you -- except for the S4GRU enforcement division. I sense forthcoming sanctions for PEDs: post enhancing drugs. You, A-Rod, and Lance Armstrong can talk shop. AJ

I will update the standings later tonight. But, quite frankly, Robert has become the John Calipari of S4GRU. Nobody can beat his team of pseudo amateur, quasi professional posts. AJ

I am not sure where you are seeing that stat, but it is likely band 1 IMT 1900+2100 MHz, which is not available in US spectrum allocation. AJ

When you suspect a second band 25 carrier or a second or even a third band 41 carrier, always be sure to check your LTE engineering screen. Note the downlink EARFCN. That definitively will tell the story, while GCI/PCI patterns are just educated guesswork. AJ
