  1. Do you habitually set all active display phones to S4GRU for homepage? AJ
  2. In due time. An HTC One M9 in the hand is worth two on order. AJ
  3. Someone posted that the T-Mobile variant utilizes Samsung's own baseband, hence the Exynos Modem 333/SS333 that we reported in the article. But that is all of the additional info at this point. We still do not know what baseband(s) the CDMA2000 variants employ. AJ
  4. I thought that Sprint got rid of Claire about a decade ago. And while she was a voice response system, that does not mean she was authorized to speak on Sprint's behalf about its spectrum auction plans. AJ
  5. Should he sell himself on the street corner? Online? Or through a madam/pimp? AJ
  6. I am glad we finally started a Midwest outrage thread. I got a lot problems with you people! Now, you're going to hear about it! AJ
  7. I am not so certain that there have been "issues." We have WiMAX device log records of a 5 MHz TDD WiMAX carrier centered at 2499 MHz. That is right in the middle of the BRS 1 block. AJ
  8. If this is the Midwest outage thread, I am going to take a proactive stance -- before someone else "outs" me. Yes, I live in the Midwest. And, yes, I am attracted to websites like S4GRU. There, I said it... AJ
  9. No "softy" for maximus. He has a hard on for S4GRU. AJ
  10. Define "short term." Orange is the new black. Something will be the new magenta. T-Mobile's 15 minutes will not last forever. AJ
  11. Stop worrying about it. Dish's spectrum accumulation is not presently causing problems. Construction requirements cannot be imposed overnight -- that is not realistic. Rather, those deadlines must be set years in the future. If Dish just continues to dick around for the next several years, then it will face the consequences. For now, though, you have to wait and see. And as a fair comparison, remember that the FCC awarded Nextel the set of PCS G block nationwide licenses as compensatory spectrum over a decade ago, but Sprint did not put that spectrum into commercial service until 2012. AJ
  12. When it comes to maximus, more like ¡qué lástima! AJ
  13. If LTE becomes unusable below -105 dBm RSRP, your network or device is malfunctioning. AJ
  14. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-308-rssi-vs-rsrp-a-brief-lte-signal-strength-primer/ AJ
  15. Now showing in the Hesse Gallery at The Robert M. Herron Museum of Modern Cellphones. AJ
  16. I would have thought that Iliad, the French telecom operator, provided Wi-Fi for Target. AJ
  17. "PCS spacing" is a spurious concept. Does VZW have "Cellular spacing"? No. In most well constructed markets these days, the big four operators have quite similar site spacing -- regardless of their respective band/frequency holdings. That is because capacity concerns trumped basic coverage dictates years ago. AJ
  18. The FCC OET docs have been up for two weeks. Honestly, the RF specs are not that impressive. ERP/EIRP no greater than that of a decent handset. And no CDMA2000. https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=387064&fcc_id=PY3AC779SS AJ
  19. That minimum GSM allocation seems wonky, since 22 is not evenly divisible by many other integers -- just 1, 2, and 11. So, what is the N or K of the frequency reuse pattern with 22 GSM channels? AJ
  20. Repeated speed tests -- especially by those on "unlimited" data plans -- definitely are not helping data speeds. And users on tiered data plans who realize that each speed test can consume upwards of 50 MB in the matter of a few seconds do not run so many speed tests. Here is the lesson to be learned: you are not RootMetrics. Leave the network data speed measurements to a few scientifically minded professionals, not a few million posers. If you are experiencing data connectivity problems, sure, run a speed test or two. If applicable, report the issue to Sprint. But do not run daily or even hourly speed tests just to see if you are getting 5 Mbps down or 25 Mbps down. Either way, data works well. The speed does not matter -- except to your e-penis. AJ
  21. The postal code for Nevada. The Silver State. East of California, west of Utah. Home to Las Vegas and Reno. AJ
  22. Yeah. Stop running speed tests. You and thousands of others are just wasting a few dozen MBs of bandwidth per test. AJ
