  1. It was probably easier to lay fiber along the RR right of way back when they were running the first cross country fiber.
  2. Long time lover of their looking glass service.
  3. Alarming trend, but not surprising. Hey innocent people have nothing to hide right! Only criminals need the bill of rights.
  4. Looking forward to that list, i was under the wrong impression it seems! Maybe its LTE800 i was thinking of then.
  5. IIRC no phones currently support 800MHZ voice that you are referring to and i believe that Robert said the 800 voice field test wont start until early 2013. My advice is don't wait and get an Air-rave
  6. July 12th at 12 minuets and 12 seconds after noon Central time! 7/12/12 12:12:12
  7. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-building/XBYeD-bhk1o/ry-0jTGimEQJ Let the mayhem begin!
  8. I think traffic state would be the more sensitive, how does that usually work? I am guessing there is some minimum signal value and then the handset would try to negotiate a handoff to a better radio with the switch? How close is that?
  9. I would assume that it would be handled just like a 1900 to 1900 handoff, IIRC the phone usually selects what tower/sector/radio to use based on the lowest Ec/Io value.
  10. Yep only watched video 1 so far. Time to bake a pizza and pop some popcorn!
  11. You know, I think I'm going to finish the AlcaLu videos. Maybe they mentioned something about the cores in there.
  12. I'm going to buy one of these one day! http://www.pervices.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=42 200Mhz is going to be one heck of an upgrade from the 3.2Mhz I get now. http://superkuh.com/gnuradio.html
  13. The sponsor maps shows what switch each site is connected to. I have not seen any location information on these switches but they are likely in a hardened facility/Central Ofice just like normal phone switches.
  14. Flip a coin. Without knowing exactly how Sprint applies the band aid changes there's no way to know for sure but, it is entirely possible the tower is taken offline for the upgrade. If it gets better in a day or two then they were probably right.
  15. I suspect that the Venetian is using DAS in the mall/canal area as I had excellent signal and tolerable speeds 200-300Kb. DAS and Pico-cells are the only viable solution in such densely populated areas.
  16. From my experience last week its terrible on the strip(too crowded, ATT suffers also) but decent once you get away a small distance. I was able to get over 2Mb down behind the Venetian.
  17. Different gain or manufacturer is my guess. There's three different sizes one for each heading. Good catch, I was distracted by giant birds and tiny aircraft!
  18. I just noticed I caught a southwest jet on approach in that shot. Looks like its going to get stuck in all that bushy stuff! The techs are going to have a fun time working around those nests when they put up the new panels.
  19. Yes the lower level is probably clearwire. This tower was supposed to be the first to get upgraded in Austin 3 weeks ago but obviously this has yet to happen.

  21. Having trouble with the difference between RX power (pilot stregenth?) and RSSI.
