  1. my results are similar to yours for the most part - at times lte is sub 4mbps BUT again I'm not in a launched market - so I'm just happy to see it :-)
  2. I don't see the PR as a negative either. I am a bit surprised though that we haven't seen or heard much from Sprint and Softbank... almost seems "status quo" I also understand its been less than a week or so since SoftBank. I guess I just need to understand and wait :-)
  3. in my area ATT just went official with LTE and on my work phone getting 30-60mbps down and in the mid teens up is very stable even during peak times. Sprint in my is turned on but not launched and not stable - it flips flops from a 4-5 bar LTE stright to a much lower 1-2 3G reading. Maybe they are turning off the panels not sure but happen a bunch! BUT when it is up I get a peak of 22mbps which typically settles down to lower teens in the same test; to a low of 1-2mbps as a starting point then during same test levels at 1.5mbps typically during peak. up is almost always in the 5-8mbps range. Then EVDO speeds still in the 100-300kbps range. NOW I know Sprin hasn't launched in this market yet SO not faulting them at all - just reporting what I am seeing. I am very grateful for having LTE in the 1st place. oh and I would be very happy to see 3-5mbps down on a standard basis... don't need those astronomical speeds att is pushing!
  4. my assumption is New Sprint wants July 30th to happen like yesterday - so they can announce a typical poor quarter. Then Mr. Son can start to get New Sprint into the press with announcements. This is also why I bet they are waiting to go live with the 2 boroughs in NYC on the 30th to help show the future rather than the past. I don't know SoftBank nor Mr. Son - BUT from what i have seen in video and and written word he is not a person that likes to come in last nor enjoys his company taking it by TMO or any other carrier. who knows maybe I'm all wrong... hope I'm not :-) thoughts?
  5. Well as everyone knows it took years to build the Titanic but hours to sink it... same goes for a good cell system. like you Digiblur (at least I assume based on your other posts) I am very confident SoftBank has a plan and can execute it with precision!
  6. I wasn't posting this to "beat-up" sprint -- I actually thought it helped in answering some things a little. AT&T for years was horrible due to the iPhone being so popular. It has taken AT&T a couple years to build a great hspa/lte system. Now TMO yeah the CEO is cool and I agree its hard to keep hearing how fast TMO has been working... BUT for me TMO is a non issue since my county is only edge if you are lucky! I'm long on Sprint.
  7. In Sprint defense... I have to believe (assume) they have been waiting to figure out what was going to to happen with ClearWire, Dish, SoftBank, etc... Which had to have eaten up a bunch of valuable time. BUT they didn't want to repeat WiMax issues.... thoughts? I'd rather have a slower deploy than one that needs to be redone in 12-18 months!
  8. Not sure if this has been posted yet: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57595175-94/why-sprint-is-taking-its-sweet-time-with-4g-lte/ Not that I agree with the catchy headline... it has some truth - but the article is actually pretty good. Why Sprint is taking its sweet time with 4G LTE The partial rollout of LTE in New York is emblematic of the issues Sprint has had with its deployment. CNET gets behind the delay.

    LG Optimus G

and ones that support 800 (I assume only 1x mode, none support lte correct?) [sorry to have semi-hijacked this thread]
  10. so I guess hoping that page three (the missing page) shows an upgrade system like what TMO rolled out today..... ..... oh wait I think I hear Bobby Ewing in the shower.
  11. Not to be sounding like a curmudgeon here... BUT the real truth here is people won't notice nor care! If they did no one would be on VZW or AT&T! now sure folks here (or TMO News, or Howards or etc) will be put off by this - bottom line Sprint will do just fine either-way, SoftBank didn't just spend billions of dollars to give it up! the silver lining here is the unlimited data stays, sprint finally on paper acknowledged datahogs and has an easy way to cut them off - I assume once Sprint lights up LTE in "their" area they will dump whomever they use for LTE unlimited data. And I assume Son and Dan will want to announce a huge expansion of LTE soon and this new plan is going to help that happen and to pay for the Clearwire switch over! Do I like the pricing no.... will I like the service as is no..... if I switch back to sprint its on the premise (not promise) it will be fixed! I hope this post is taken in a positive light or at least flat....
  12. so employee discounts only on data not on base per line... hmmmm. i have only two lines so it isn't bad... (but i do have 2 voice only lines which will kill me it seems) not sure if I want to come back to Sprint now. I was all into with SoftBank and Sprint getting kick ass LTE. BUT don't know - my area has had semi stable lte for a few weeks (been stopping at the store in town) speed tests peak at 5-6mbps which is more than I need, but I am worried once its official in my area more users will slow it down. And most town near by have no LTE and might not for over a year - 3g evdo at about 100kbps is not worth $150 a month. TMO is only edge 2g speeds in my area VZW is LTE at about 15-20mbps AT&T only HSPA+ at about 8-9mbps (LTE near my office is about 35mbps) this is a tough one.... Robert flip the coin for me kind sir :-)
  13. Not to mention - there is the A5, A6, and I assume to be announced A7 ;-)
  14. has anyone listened to the call this morning? If yes - I don’t know what all of the negative posts are about - Dish seems to like the unlimited data and see value in it! And like Soft Bank Dish see’s HUGE value to going the TD-LTE route! I don’t see any negative side to it… so tell me how I’m wrong facts please!
  15. I assume since Dish has spectrum ;-) http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/analysts-fccs-rulemaking-favors-dishs-lte-network-plans/2012-03-22 and taking on more debt - which will help Sprint stay afloat and buy equipment at lower rates. And Dish wants a larger stake in ownership — Uncle Charlie has deep pockets.
  16. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/309199-DISH-Makes-offer-to-buy-Sprint i am very socked if true... this most be pissing off softbank! or maybe soft bank has already backed out and allowing Sprint to move on… I haven’t heard much on Softbank other than Sprint floating ClearWire

  18. I thought during Sprint's first media "event" where they rolled out this 3 stage NV plan the towers had a much larger coverage plume, and was a reason to have fewer sites. Not just for EVDO or LTE but both... Then ClearWire would have its overlay where needed... I understand the original plans have gone to ___ and that may be the reasons. But all that said I hope I'm not waiting for miracle LOL great stuff as always Robert
  19. Maybe I have been waiting too long and getting cold feet.... but I am 'starting' to have less and less 'faith' in NV addressing the shortcomings of my local evdo coverage holes...
  20. sam same is happening for me in my area 06790/06791/06759 I don't think my area is undergoing NV yet...
  21. and that is in the "north" part of the state (maybe north-central)? By the time I get out of work tonight it will most likely be dark... BUT Saturday I'll drive over. as this really has me being curious!
  22. On that topic... Robert do you think the Southern market for CT as Sprint calls it, follows what you posted in the fall where Southern CT was geographically the western part of CT incl both north and south?) or only the cities called out? again awesome forum and great folks!
  23. I have seen great speeds on evdo in my area over the past 24 hours... not sure if its a fluke yet or good things to come. was getting about 100k on a good day, much less on a normal day. now getting about 800k to 2mbps in some areas of town... I'll take that - thank you much :-)
  24. I don't think its the zoning side (I can be wrong)... per the siting councils site in CT most of the sites shown on the map have been approved for LTE upgrades in October of this year... http://www.ct.gov/csc/lib/csc/facilits.xlsx
  25. Almost December and zilch… I have a strong feeling Sprint will continue to disappoint.
