  1. That was my point.... Since the article and "quotes" seem like this is new and not a previous effort. I know in my home town they have upgraded evdo to 900-1500kbps on a couple towers. Where the rest are havinging problems keeping you on 3G as most of the time your on 1x mode. It's a real pain to say the least. Just wish I knew what Sprint was actually planning in my area.
  2. Not sure this post is allowed here being that its not LTE related… but what the hell http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-spends-200m-q3-support-increased-data-traffic-cdma-network/2012-11-08?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss I'd be curious to know if this has already been in place - since we know that NV has also hosted EVDO — or is this truly an extra bucket of money…
  3. Thanks Robert -- did you see my link to Howards? One person there saw a couple tower update in my area... what do you make of that?
  4. Maybe I am unaware but I thought NV was replacing panels and updating the communication "shed" to a smaller one if needed… not new towers.
  5. maybe it was already said, but AT&T has a much better back up with HSPA+ -- like many here I only get 56k speeds on 3g evdo... I know once NV gets to most areas it will rock!
  6. in the actual geographic southern part of the state? Or in what Sprint is calling Southern CT which as shown on the map is Northwestern corner near NY down to actual NYC area? either way - awesome news!
  7. this isn't my post from HoFo so i don't want to take credit for this at all, just re-posting http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1779901-Sprint-4G-Lte-coming-to-Torrington-Connecticut-06790-Hardware-being-installed! Rob any other info?
  8. For what it is worth for other Conn folk http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1779901-Sprint-4G-Lte-coming-to-Torrington-Connecticut-06790-Hardware-being-installed!
  9. I haven't read it yet, but the author is pretty good from POV http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2410969,00.asp
  10. It is only a bad deal if Soft Bank regrets doing so in the next 18 months! otherwise a good cash injection...
  11. from CNET... nice quote Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son isn't impressed with the high-speed wireless networks in the United States. "Everytime I come to the U.S., I say 'Oh my God, the mobile phone network is so slow,'" Son said during a conference call with analysts today. Now, Son is in a position to change things to his liking after Softbank and Sprint Nextel agreed on a deal in which Softbank would take a 70 percent stake in the U.S. carrier.
  12. Just checking to see if anyone has seen or has news for this upgrade area?
  13. Big question does Soft Bank and "Sprint" think this will pass the FCC? As in will they start spending this new found wealth NOW - or in 6 months?
  14. It would mean that "Sprint" would have the money to complete it and have it work better... I assume.
  15. let me say this so I don't come off as a hater :-) I admire Sprint for opening its sites that are on an LTE tower before it hits 40%+ BUT I really hope they actually have a decent fall back evdo network in place too, in my area only a few spots hit 500k or higher, most are in the low 100k or LOWER range… for 2012 that is not acceptable IMHO. and announcing those 100+ cities was a great thing but VZW has been lighting up full cities then announcing at a breakneck pace, I assume since its evdo network also stinks (but from my simple tests they seem to be more or less 500k and higher in most places) that all said - I am all in on Sprint :-)

  17. I guess this one of the old "towers" that they (sprint) sold off, it has a Nextel "shed" and mobile generator attached to the smoke stack, plus the really small ClearWire "hut"… thanks for the info
  18. At my office they have been replacing the "old" with these panels: pic.twitter.com/OTARDY0t I know the tan ones at the bottom of the pic are some ClearWire WiMax panels and microwave dish…
  19. thanks for the info — any info about Torrington or Bristol area?
  20. Do you have the link to show which communities? Thanks for a great site, I'll be donating more once I have more :-)
  21. being close to October any updated info on this "area"? thanks in advance
