  1.

And when I hear people saying ISPs should be turned into public utilities I just think of the ones I already have which means more or less annual rate increases that were blessed by regulators. My water bill hasn't gone down over the years. Neither has my electric bill. But when adjusted for inflation I am paying the same for internet today as I was in 2004. And my speeds have quintupled. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

With your water, do you pay more for the water you wash your dishes with than what you pay for the water your clothes with?

That is the reason people want it as a public utility. Not just about cost.

  2. Glint of Hope at FCC for Sprint, T-Mobile Deal

A Democratic FCC commissioner has acknowledged Sprint and T-Mobile may not be viable as independent companies.

    http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304908304579562350690457822

Maybe not as they're being run today.

Paying the executives stupid money is a sign they aren't run well at all. That is the just at the surface.

Two wrongs don't make a right... they say, not sure who they are though.

  3. No I understand the concept and agree. But the points that are being here make it seem that this new policy will allow the 95% to see improved data connections to what Sprint advertises? I don't see it.

In all seriousness, sprint needs to copy tmo, in offering "simple" data caps while including a higher priced unlimited plan. I mean framly plans do already but not very well known. This I think would lower people's bills if it fits yet still leaves the door open to unlimited for those that need it.

Sprint needs to be put a clear number on lots of things, for example with roaming its either 100MB or 300MB or a % of minutes used in a month. It isn't clear which plan that you have covers what amount, as the online usage amount just says '"see terms" instead of the actual number. Looking at the terms doesn't say what your exact terms are.

They just need to be clear, T-Mobile spells out their numbers quite clear for high speed data usage, not so much for low speed data speeds.

Straight talk/AIO are very clear with their high and low speed values.

My guess is to why Sprint isn't putting exact numbers to the throttling right now is that they don't really know, a work in progress and if they put a speed number, people will complain that they don't even get that speed anyway.

The Sprint marketing dept makes me think if they think these days.

  4. Big fat dislike from me. I use on average 7 gigs a month on average if I remember correctly. If I notice a degradation of service due to throttling I'll simply look at all my other options when my contract is up. We all have choices. I think from a marketing stand point sprint looses with this stance. If they maybe made it 20 gigs or such something high enough that the average consumer would understand as a lot of data it might not have any implications but 5 gigs really that seems very low to me. That's my 2 cents.

    Sent from my CoziBlurred4.3 gN2

    Exactly.

Ask the average user how many Gigabytes of data they use per month, they will respond with "what is a Gigabyte?"

This is the result of Sprint acknowledging that they have a network problem and can not keep advertizing 'unlimited data' any longer.

There are users on here and other sites that will accuse you of abusing your service that you pay for.

  5. This is something we should keep in mind as well:

    *graph*

Going into 600MHz auction, Sprint's spectrum vest could actually hurt their chances of getting significant amount of 600MHz spectrum. Just imagine how much damage would that SprinT-Mobile merger portfolio do going into the incentive auction...

The frequency use should also be taken into consideration, if they're not using it, they can't be allocated any more until they using it. If they don't want a certain frequency, they are free to give to someone else.

  6. I would be interested to understand what the average sprint data usage of the churning customers looks like. My fear is that it is lower than sprints typical metric.

Very little data can be used, that seems to be what is not understand by the company.

  7. Also, the NFL is punishing the Seahawks for being to good at home. Does anyone else think this is ridiculous? Read about it here

The NFL wants all teams to be equal.

It doesn't follow the same methodology as sports in other countries, with division, promotions, relegations.

    The same with the NHL/NBA/MLS.

It is strange. But then again here we fund the millionaires playgrounds (the stadiums) with tax money from the poor (sales taxes), and the NFL pays no tax.

So nothing makes sense with sports.

  8. I also changed the animation scale, I put them as zero, which I feel does help a lot also.

I try and stop most apps giving notifications too, and stop individual apps syncing in the background.

What do you mean set limits on apps running in the background, is on each individual app or is there a global setting?

  9. Do you think we'll receive kitkat on this tab7, or will it be unsupported now the tab4 's are coming out?

I know the cell versions of the tab3's came out quite bit later than the wifi versions, so we could be lucky.

It can be a little sluggish, but I like it, I was hoping that kitkat will improve it a little.

I like the multiuser logins, but I thought it was different to have to download the same app twice, one for each user, using up twice as much room.

  10. That's misleading, the whole Sprint/Google Voice integration at least. Voice calls still use 1x. The SMS and voicemail uses data. The integration allows one to use their data service for SMS messages instead of the 1x network which if you're in an area that is bordered legacy and NV you would know is a miserable experience.

It also affords the user to have other devices tied to Google Voice to expand your voice capabilities. Such as adding a home phone number to your GV so that when your cell rings, your home phone will as well, either can answer the calls. Or getting a service that forwards a virtual phone number to a SIP account allowing you to get calls to and from a SIP server enabling VOIP calls to take place over cell data and/or wifi.

    Misleading, how?

I get voice delays on outgoing and incoming calls when my Sprint cell number is fully integrated.

When roaming, for example on USC or Verizon, the integration isn't there and to make international calls I have to dial my own cell number, enter my password, then dial the call manually.

In cases like this, partial google voice integration is better, where it dials an access number automatically, if configured that way.

  11. Still no 16:9 option it seems.  I am disappointed about that, but otherwise welcome it being a standalone app that can be updated often.

Why do you want a 16:9 option?

When people use that mode for vertical images.... aghhh

I'm glad the app tells users to not make vertical videos. Apple needs to disable vertical video in their phones.

  12. I don't know what you're asking.  The bands are to be enabled, apparently along with the icon.

I hoping this rumour is very wrong, I doubt that it is true.

We don't need no stupid spinning icon to tell us we are on a certain frequency, not at all.

  13. Sprint has the NV equipment, the sites, the backhaul established, the knowledge, the staff, technicians, and most of all Mr Mass.

I am not sure how you put it all together in a trade or partnership, but it sure could be done. I am not sure is SHOULD be done, but it could be.

They do? Some places, yes. ;)

  14. Yup never had problems with it. My brother used one for a year and had zero issues. He finally dropped it about three months ago because 800 lite up in his area.

I have the 2.0 model Airave with Nexus5 phones right now. I can see the signal level drop to nothing, then roaming, non-roaming.

All while running network connectivity monitoring. Had the same issue with Samsung s3 phones too.

Can't rely on the Airave, if it works, great !, when it doesn't work, Oh well.

I just don't think we should pay the monthly 'fee' for the Airave for such an unreliable device.

  15. I seriously doubt they removed it on a whim. I am 100 percent positive a cost benefit analysist was done and it came out as o costly for the return.

Ok, I mean that they remove the coverage making it hard on people who signed up for their service because they saw native service on their coverage maps on their site.

With Alaska, they gave a few months notice. Now when in Alaska it 'roams' on GCI which puts Sprint's native coverage to shame, their cell quality indoors in the cities and 3G speeds there are great.
