  1. I need one that can use an outdoor directional antenna.

Does this Sierra modem support wiring an antenna?

How would I activate this on Sprint?

Would I just take a SIM out of a Hotspot and place in to the Sierra modem, or would I need to work with Sprint to get it working?

Thanks for the help. I'm looking for a backup internet solution, where I can throttle the speed at which the data is used.

Sprint's brand isnt good. It is far, far behind every carrier. The can brand about being most improved but when you start negative and people view you slightly less negative that doesnt make your brand good.

I know massive mimo isn't cheap and sprint doesnt have the resources to deploy it properly. That is my argument. The merger has to happen if we are going to have at least one carrier that will deploy 5g on what any reasonable person would understand to be a national level.

When the companies know what 5G actually is, then they can deploy it. Right now, it is just 1 higher than 4G (?).

I personally think if there is a merger that the new company name should be Sprint. Not T-Mobile, it needs to be a better name without a hyphen.

Sprint is far more than wireless, look at their fiber network around the world, that is of very high quality. This is one of the big reasons why T-Mobile want Sprint.

That being said, I have heard others say it didn't restore onto a new device. But this sounds like a Google issue rather than a Signal Check issue.

I have never seen any preferences be restored from my google account, these are on Samsung S7/S8, LG V30, Nexus 5X, etc.

I do prefer that all apps are installed with their defaults as having no noises, no notifications, no anything. It makes a happy first impression. Just my preference.

  4. I personally would wait for the next iPhone model, hopefully for the addition of the the 600 Mhz band.

You can roam on T-Mobile's 700 Mhz band with the current iPhones, it would be nice to roam on their 600 Mhz band when available.
    With or without the merger.

When Clearwire was deploying WiMax way back when, they opted to put a site on Yankee Stadium as opposed to a DAS too. I wonder what stops carriers from doing a DAS?

A lot of locations charge Sprint and other cell companies a lot for them to have a DAS, sometimes millions per year, depending on the site.

So if I'm in the woods next to a T-Mobile only site on a new iPhone, and my Sprint device shows "No Service," it will attempt the call over T-Mobile?

It should be able to call over any network it picks up, no matter which company.

This is why when your phone shows no service, you can still make a 911 call if another company has coverage.

  7. I'm curious to hear if anyone has called 911 while using their Sprint phone while roaming.

I know you can call 911 even when there are no reported signal bars on the phone display, if the phone's technology supports using another carrier.

But what about using Verizon's 700 Mhz VoLTE and T-Mobile's 700 VoLTE bands, the latest iPhones support these voice/bands, but Sprint doesn't yet.

Does that mean calling 911 will never pick up a VoLTE signal on these bands?

Yeah even here in Atlanta it is borderline. Volte sucks with my magic box. I disable it. CDMA is awesome for voice. That's the "problem."

Are you using the real VoLTE or the Voip VoLTE Beta on an Android phone?

VoLTE isn't being enabled for all users for a few months, this is for markets away from the North/South borders, later for those areas.

I am just guessing, but I would think that it would latch on 1x for voice but still roam for LTE data. This is the case for many locations now...

If Sprint LTE isn't available and T-Mobile LTE is, it will roam.

I have heard that roaming will be enabled on the west coast first. I have not heard when the rest of us will be able to roam, but it is mostly needed on the west coast where Sprint's coverage is lacking.
