  1. Expanding service through roaming partners they treat as native service (if that is what they ultimately do) is the samething as adding new towers to expand coverage area in the same way as buying a rual carrier (which is why ATT and vzw have the coverage they do).

The problem with Sprint doing this, they remove this coverage on a whim.

Look what they did to states like Alaska, native coverage there one month, gone the next. Causing hassle for the people who were locked into contracts and those that wasted money on new hardware.

  2. I think they should just move to a more structured data plan with no overages.

    1GB/month

    2GB/month

    3GB/month

    4GB/month

After you hit your limit, 128kb/sec

I think it's much more realistic way to sell data without the downfall of overages.

If there is a clear way on the phone, maybe with an app where users can see their data usage each month.

T-Mobile has an app that shows this on their pre-paid plans.

Maybe people could then also choose to request non-compressed images as part of their plan.

I think the way that words like abuse and fraudulent are thrown around is funny, these people are paying money to use their phone on plans that Sprint is selling. People should be allowed to use these phones any way they wish. Just because Sprint doesn't plan and upgrade their network to keep up with demand, it is not these users fault, they are paying money.

In a lot of areas we can only to be too happy to have the 128kbps limitation, as it never gets that high. So lets get there first before limiting everyone.

  3. Did some more Sensorly mapping today around Enumclaw. Very good speeds along 410 especially in front of the ranger station. LTE Signal drops out right after the Enumclaw Golf Course.

I thought I would never say it but Good Job Sprint!

I need to get a triband phone because I suspect TD2500 probably works out here too. I always had great speeds with my WiMax modem off of the same tower.

I drove through there today too.

Even though I have a triband Nexus5, can't use it yet. I know they have wimax/clear in town there.

  4. I know Google is planning on shutting down 'voice' in the next couple months which is very unfortunate.  Does anyone know if Sprint is planning on releasing a 'voicemail' app in the play store for phones like the N5??

They aren't shutting down google voice, just closing it off to outside applications.

They might merge it with Hangouts,

Sprint never released a voice app for any of their nexus phones, not the Nexus 4G or the Galaxy Nexus, and I don't expect one for the Nexus 5.

The google voice app is great.

  5. I have seen this compression on images for at least a year on Sprint, not always related to tower congestion, it just happens. Sometimes they reduce image file size by over 90% which makes images look awful, not just on the web browser, but in apps like Engadget, Reddit, BBC News, CNN news.

If you don't like it, you can use a VPN on Sprint.

  6. I really hope Son comes to full fruition with his words. Price war and all....He has some high visions, but this could turn out awesome! I watched that hour long video last night, and it made me a believer! Here's to hoping for being the best!

Take a look at the prices in Japan, a lot higher than here.

Their cell phone policy for the whole country is very closed door, tourists can't buy a SIM they have to rent overpriced SIMs.

So I don't really understand what this 'price war' is about. By looking at the new prepaid plans, it just means they'll go up if that is any indication?

  7. Does Sprint play the blame game?  Or are you confusing our explanations with Sprint actively blaming?  Other than explaining the progress of Network Vision during investor updates, etc., I don't know if Sprint has a history of blaming.

I think all companies do, especially when things don't go to plan, poor plans.

  8. (Sprint only limits streaming to 1Mbps when the cell site is under heavy load, correct? Not 100% of the time?)

They re-encode video and images, heavily over-compress and send them to your phone.

When the cell tower is under heavy load, or when its sunny, or rainy, or just when they feel like it.

If you use a vpn, they won't do this.

  9. So, I know a lot of people here use this, but has anyone had the issue I'm having?  I'm not sure if it's a Google Voice issue, or a N5 issue.

Using GV as voicemail only, but even though I've looked in both the app and on the web to see that all Voicemails are read, whenever I get one (and many other random times), it always tells me I have anywhere from 3-10 of them, some dating back to 2012.  I know I still have those, but they've all been listened to as well as marked as read.

One setting you need to leave unchecked otherwise you won't be told about new VMs. At least I'm not on both my Nexus5's.

Settings>Voicemail Display (view and play voicemails from phone call log) UNCHECKED. <<---- important.

  10. I think excluding roaming is fair since it can be very variable. Although it would be interesting to know if the average consumer even knows when and what roaming is.

Well if Sprint's coverage includes roaming, then it would include a lot of VZW, which would limit the number of minutes and amount of data. VZW has the best coverage in the country.

To think that Sprint's coverage is anything close to that of AT&T is bizarre to say the least.

I have both AT&T and Sprint, I go places that unless I am in need of warming my pocket for an hour, I turn off the Sprint phone.

This include rural Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Washington, basically outside of a city.

I feel that Sprint should spend the bzillions on adding towers and not doubling up with T-Mobile.

The guy Son is starting to sound like T-Mobile's CEO, not living in reality.
