  1. I have worked in the construction industry for 20 years and I have watched year after year the threshold for what you would use a crane for go down every year. Now everyone wants a crane for everything. Also, NV panels are a lot larger/heavier than the old PCS panels. And those RRU's appear to be pretty heavy too. So, from a safety/risk management perspective, cranes are probably the way to go. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
  2. Yes, and more and more sites will be added every week. You are in a much better position than most of us. Robert
  3. Still actively being deployed. Since they didn't announce the market soon, I think the earliest they will launch DC market is Mid to late October. Robert
  4. It's funny you should ask. I am planning an article in the morning. Good news. Robert

  7. I have a hard time having sympathy for people in places who are in active deployment areas where progress is occurring and more sites are going live. Yes, it may not be available in your home this very moment. But more and more coverage is happening every week. Yes, Sprint's coverage maps suck. They suck bad. However, that doesn't mean that LTE deployment is not progressing. The suggestion of using Sensorly is a good idea. You can see where actual users have connected. If you use Sensorly, make sure that you select the LTE map from Sprint and not the WiMax map. I am headed to Waco from New Mexico this evening. I plan to run Sensorly everywhere I go to log LTE coverage in the DFW and Waco areas. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  8. Ahhh, yes. I still wonder if the 5MHz WiMax carrier may be more common than we realize. If we could just ship out a few hundred SA's around the country to some of our more geeky members and do some testing! Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  9. Although it hasn't been reported so, yet, I do believe that Sprint will still use network.sprint.com to report network upgrades, like additional carriers being added to even Post-Network Vision sites. Carrier adds will be an ongoing network management item even in a post Network Vision world. However, backhaul upgrades will be a much rarer event (the so-called speed upgrades). Robert
  10. Which outlet mall? Where is it located? Robert
  11. Starting in July 2013, Sprint will start decommissioning the remaining iDEN network. They are dismantling almost the entire network. They are leaving only a very small amount of iDEN sites to be converted to Network Vision CDMA/LTE. Only approximately 100 sites around the whole country from the last info I heard. Robert
  12. In Non Network Vision markets, the only source for network maintenance information is network.sprint.com. Robert
  13. If Chicago deployment is any indication, it gets worse and worse and worse, until the day the site is connected to new backhaul...and then...voila! At least DC is an active deployment zone. So you know it is on the way to getting better. Robert
  14. Can't argue with such a reasonable and intelligent approach. Sprint should adopt this style right away. However, I do not have a PR or marketing background, either. Robert
  15. To clarify, the Galaxy S-III supports: CDMA 1x/EVDO: 800MHz (SMR), 850MHz (Cellular) and 1900MHz (PCS) LTE: 1900MHz (PCS) That it's. It does not support LTE on 800, not LTE on 2600. Robert
  16. Where is this site located exactly? Other than near a Publix. On another note, I sure miss the Sweet Tea from Publix. That stuff is like crack!!! Robert
  17. Sprint never announced a Chicago launch in September. That September launch was an estimate made by S4GRU based on the schedule progress and Sprint launching at 40% complete. And Sprint has exceeded 40% complete on 3G and closing in on 4G too. However, I pushed out our estimate of launch to October. Because, the more I think about it, I don't believe Chicago will launch before any sites start to go live inside the loop with LTE. How would Sprint advertise that LTE is now live in the Chicago market without any sites being complete in Chicago proper? My guess is, they won't. So I have pushed my estimate of market launch out until October. Seems like the wise call at this point. Robert
  18. We have yet to find a site in the Austin market (outside of Waco) that has started Network Vision/LTE upgrades. Where is this tower located exactly? It would be great if your have indeed discovered the first NV site in the Austin metro area getting upgraded. Robert
  19. To post a pic URL, it must end in .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif, etc. for them to work in IP Board. If the URL end in anything but an accepted extension, it will give you an error. If you use Tiny Pic, make sure you use the image attachment button in the format section above the text window and enter the URL in there. Robert
