  1. That is odd and would make suspect the radio. Robert
  2. Sounds like eHRPD is down in your area. I wonder if the LTE is also down in the Chicago market? If so, it could be realted to the LTE core they are connected to. Robert
  3. I haven't seen any instance of that happening. But I suppose it is possible. Or using legacy backhaul. If so, then the legacy would have to be on different channels than the NV, or they will interfere. Keep us posted. Thanks. Robert
  4. CDMA devices do not even know which sites are closer. They use the EcIo ratio to determine which is the best site/carrier for you to use. Whenever usage of the site goes up, or conenction is iminished, your device will start scanning other sites/carrier for one with a better EcIo ratio. The data speed is not a factor in the EcIo ratio, unfortunately. If you have several sites within range, it may switch you to many different sites several times per minute without you being aware. I am not saying this is the issue you are experiencing. But it may be. To find out which site your EVDO is connected to a GS3, go to your dialer and enter ##DEBUG#. Enter in the lock code 777468. Go to the EVDO Engineering Protocol and look for the Sector ID and Channel and take note of them. When you have fast performance and slow performance, see if these are the same. If the Sector ID is different, than you were on two different sites. If only the Channel is different, then you were on the same site, but different channel. It will be interesting to see where you are connected when you get the reduced 3G performance. Robert
  5. You cannot be certain, especially in a place like New York, that you are even connected to the same site. Have you verified the BSID number is the same in your Debug Engineering screens on the sites with good and bad speeds? Robert
  6. Yeah, my success rate with Sensorly was approximately 50% around Waco and Ft. Worth. I was disappointed when I got back to the hotel and saw that about half of all my driving/testing didn't appear. I saw that water tower when I was in Roanoke on Friday. Hard Eight BBQ was most excellent. Robert
  7. Based on my observations in Waco, you could keep LTE up to -98dBm RSSI (-123dBm RSRP). However, it's usefulness was variable when the signal was worse than -93dBm RSSI (-118dBm RSRP). Robert Overcast mornings in Waco had no noticeable effect on signal. However, extremely heavy rain may have a mild effect, probably only noticeable to users with a fragile link at the edge of service. Robert
  8. When you get an EVDO connection, does cycling through airplane mode restore it to eHRPD? Or does it stay on EVDO? Robert
  9. It was last Thursday morning (8/30), I believe. Robert

  12. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Wednesday, September 5, 2012 - 7:45 AM MDT S4GRU has received a tip that Network Vision was spotted underway in the Austin metro area. We were able to send out a core member to verify. We are happy to report that Sprint is indeed under way with Network Vision/LTE deployment in the Austin market. S4GRU Member ATX4G first reported the work at the site. Later S4GRU Member boomerbubba, went out to verify for this article. While at Site #SA14XC087, Boomerbubba was able to actually talk with one of the field techs working at the site, and offered this report: There you go. Verification of the first Austin site. Most likely, there are many more currently under active deployment all around greater Austin at this moment. We also reported this weekend more activity in the Austin market with a new site at Ft. Hood Medical Center. It looks like the Austin market is no longer being delayed and back on track with an active deployment. The original Network Vision schedule had work starting in the Austin Metro Area in June. So, it appears like it is starting 2-1/2 months later than originally planned. So perhaps we can expect an end of November launch and a January/February completion? By the end of September, they should be hitting their stride and we can better evaluate then. Stay tuned.

  15. New maps? I'm not sure what you are referring to. There are Sponsor maps in the S4GRU Interactive Map section: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/forum/31-interactive-s4gru-maps/ Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  16. We track those here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ They usually get updated every week or two. Watch the updated date at the bottom of the first post. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
