I have never believed that the EVO's problems were related to "weak radios" as some have described it. When I was performing LTE testing in Waco, the EVO LTE had roughly the same signal strength as the GS3 in most instances (and pretty much the same performance speeds and ping times). However, it was tough to keep it connected to a weak signal. It was also tough to get it to connect to LTE on its own, always the last device to discover LTE (if it discovered it at all). In most instances, it required cycling through airplane mode. When we were driving, we were almost out of LTE coverage again before the EVO LTE would discover a signal on its own, or if at all. Each OTA has improved the EVO LTE's connectivity issues to LTE. Used by itself, most users are oblivious. But when you use the EVO LTE side by side with other Sprint LTE devices, you get frustrated with the EVO LTE. Shentel is just in a testing phase, so LTE coverage will be in and out for a little while. But it shouldn't be too long before it is on permanently. It will start with just a few sites. And then coverage will grow over the weeks and months. Robert

After you download it, place it on your external SD card. Then power off your device. Hold down the Power + Volume Up + Home button at the same time. It will then boot up into Android System Recovery. Press the Volume Down button until it highlights the "apply update from external storage" and press the Power button to select it. Now scroll down with your Volume down button to highlight the downloaded file. Press the Power button to select the update file once it is highlighted. It will take a couple of minutes to install. And voila! This update should only be applied to non rooted GS3's. Robert

I am failing to see the point of posting repetitive bad 3G speed tests. We all experience poor Sprint 3G performance in many places on the network. Help me to understand how this is helpful or goes along with S4GRU core mission? To me, it just seems to pollute a thread that could be helpful about new Network Vision discoveries in the LA Metro market. Robert

I have noticed the issue with Sensorly. There are two settings for uploading your points in the settings. You can either only do it when connected to WiFi, or you can use mobile networks to upload your collection data. If you do it via mobile networks, your points will get lost in between your device and Sensorly servers if you have no data connection or a poor data connection when you hit Stop. After I discovered this issue, I now confirm through a speed test that I have solid upload performance, before hitting the Stop button. I have run several tests now to confirm the issue. As long as I have a solid upload when I hit Stop, my results plot. If I do not have a 3G/4G icon when I hit stop, my 4G points disappeared from my Sensorly app but never upload on the Sensorly site. Or if my data speed test comes back under 100kbps, then most of the time when I hit stop, my plots do not appear on Sensorly. I've also got into the habit of pressing Stop once every few minutes and restarting. That way, if I lose a batch, it is only a little bit of data, not the whole route. You may want to switch to just uploading on WiFi to help reduce errors. Robert
