  1. There will likely be some sporadic LTE around the market before the end of the month. A pre launch of the LA market is coming in the not too distant future. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  2. It was from our old forums almost a year ago. Our import of our old forum has a lot of missing posts. So you cannot see in context what I was talking about. I was talking about the expansion of WiMax. WiMax expansion had ended in 2011, and I was explaining that WiMax expansion was dead. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner

  5. No. Just some HTML was corrupted in the last update. I need to fix it. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
  6. Yes, but you were responding to a guy who was asking whether the tower he showed a picture of could have been upgraded. And you said you didn't think so because you didn't think work was under way in Florida. So what does being blocked have to do with a picture of a possible completed site? Maybe I am missing something. Did a post get deleted? Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
  7. Many Florida markets are active deployment areas. Remember that the sites on the NV Sites Complete map are the ones accepted by Sprint. There are usually a few weeks from the time subcontractors start working on a site until Sprint accepts it. Robert
  8. On 3G, this is a common problem with the band aid improvements (the ones shown at network.sprint.com). If you think about it, what happens when a 3G site bogs down and becomes unusable? People stop using it. So, when a legacy site gets a temporary backhaul upgrade, the speeds go way up. Over 2Mbps in some instances. Everyone becomes happy again. And then people start using it again. In fact, it works so well, so much better than ever that people use it more than ever before, once they realize the 3G is performing well again. People start streaming Netflix and Pandora, and they all are happy. More and more people realize and start using it. And then the speeds start going down again. Below 1Mbps. Then below 500kbps, and sometimes below 100kpbs...all over again. The reason why is one of two reasons, and possibly both in many instances. Number one...now with extra usage that is occurring, the site now also needs an additional EVDO carrier. All the extra traffic now has drowned out the existing carrier load. Number two...the additional backhaul is insufficient for the new amount of traffic that is occurring at the site now that people are now using it again at much greater amounts than ever before. As for the backhaul, there is no permanent solution until Network Vision comes with permanent upgraded backhaul. If they add another T1 line, it will likely get swamped too. As for additional carriers, they probably can add those. Calling Sprint and opening a ticket can get them to add more carriers in the long run. However, 300k-600k speeds are near the normal Sprint posted speeds for 3G. Which if memory serves is 400k-1Mbps. Robert
  9. I have answered your question above. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2215-4g-to-3g-to-4g/page__view__findpost__p__51829 Robert
  10. Today was a difficult day for me to run the board. I had to do all my site reading via a wireless connection and on my phone during work meetings, going through dozens of PM's and posts. I rushed quickly through this one and missed some important details in the OP. In retrospect after going back and re-reading the post, I finally absorbed the original point. I just saw going inside building lost LTE, and why is this different than the WiMax debacle when I initially read the post. Thank you both for your patience. Robert
  11. He says his device goes to the 3G when he goes indoors, thus he loses LTE when he goes indoors. Two separate issues. Most Sprint LTE devices are having issues of connecting to LTE automatically when they come into a new LTE area. When he goes back outside, it is the same as driving into a new area. He has to force the device to scan for LTE, via airplane mode or PRL update. The scan timers are set pretty far out to preserve battery life. However, the iPhone 5 seems to have its scan set at much shorter intervals, and people connect to LTE much faster when coming into a coverage area. The GS3 is a little slower than the iPhone, the GNex and LG Viper slower still, and the EVO LTE almost always has to have a force scan. Robert

  13. If you have a strong LTE signal outdoors and no signal indoors, then it is your building. I can tell you based on our observations, going indoors produced a 8 to 12 dBm signal reduction. A strong LTE signal of approx -90dBm would be reduced to -102dBm RSRP, a way more than usable LTE signal. If you are losing more than 12dBm going inside, then you are going into a building that is affecting signal way more than normal. And some building types are just brutal to RF. 14. You have a weak LTE signal when you walk indoors, you just don't realize it. Read this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/ Though you have decent LTE coverage, it is nowhere near as dense yet as the 3G network. LTE is nowhere near complete in Lake County and not ready to compare to WiMax yet. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
  15. Good observation. Yeah, with that disclaimer, I'm surprised they got much coverage at all. Robert
  16. This is all about Sprint and their unlimited differentiator. The other carriers are scared to death that Sprint will now have a good network with unlimited that they will have to compete with. So they are going to claim that Sprint has an inferior network so that they can promote their superior network as their differentiator. They just needed an independent entity to come along and make the claim so they can cite it. And, voila! Why didn't companies like this check out Verizon and AT&T LTE networks at the same time in their deployment? Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
