  1. I have no idea. I do not get advanced notice of what their marketing people decide to do. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  2. Most of the 3G work is being done at there same time. However, Ericsson has been missing a critical piece to allow 3G to go live. They are starting to receive those. We will see more Ericsson 3G completes in the future. 4G deployment will likely be the primary driver in future updates, but you will see more and more 3G appear. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  3. We have no new news for your market. We were surprised to see the one site as it was. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  4. I will likely pick up the first Windows Phone device to hit Sprint. I'm interested in checking it out and putting it through our testing rigmarole. Robert
  5. Actually, I think it is by the tracks just north of Clifton Avenue. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  6. It's a new site that went live last Friday. It is over by Centennial Park. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  7. They are just starting to get things rolling in the South Carolina market. I bet they are working on permitting now. We know they are beginning in Greenwood, but it should spread around the market pretty quickly. I'm guessing work will begin around Columbia in the next 60-90 days. As for USA Dig tickets, they may not show up in the name of Sprint or Alcatel Lucent, but rather a subcontractor. Let us know if you start seeing tickets for trenching around any cell towers. Thanks. 8. There is no pattern to deployment. It wasn't so much that your area was skipped as it is random coincidence. They work on the sites that are ready, regardless of where they are in the market. Sometimes some cities or counties are harder to get planning/zoning approval and permits issued than others. And this may cause some areas to be later than others. 9. It's overburdened. And the fix is coming in Network Vision upgrades. They won't start until late Spring or Summer in Columbus market. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  10. We have had sites in Kansas reach 8-10 air miles, with little or no downtilt, installed up high. At that kind of distance, the signal would be weak and the speeds mediocre. Which is what has been reported around UCF so far. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  11. Tapatalk ate my post when I tried to change as to is. Those bastarads!
  12. Yeah, I reported the Safety Harbor site was accepted a few days ago. It is in the next NV Sites Complete update. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  13. Clearwire doesn't even have any devices out yet to run on their upcoming LTE network. Until devices are imminent, there is no advantage to having a deployed Clearwire LTE network. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  14. chamb is our go-to guy for South Central PA and H-Town. He has provided so much field reconnaissance for S4GRU. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  15. I'm all but certain that the signals picked up around UCF and 417 are coming from the Oviedo site, based on the signal strengths. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  16. They turn on each site when it is ready, inspected and accepted. One at a time. There will not be en masse LTE turn on. When there is an amalgamation of sites on covering enough area, they will launch. However, launch is not important. Launch is just a press release. Having live sites in the areas you use them is what is important. So just keep tracking deployments on S4GRU and Sensorly. You'll get far more info from that than Sprint will ever give you. Before of after so called launch. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  17. We have a member who has reported a Shentel site in Mont Alto, PA that appears to have ground mount RRU's and non NV panels that is broadcasting LTE. You can look at the coverage on Sensorly around the site there. LTE is definitely confirmed at that location. The site next to my house is labelled "Ground Mount RRU’s - No 800". They do not appear to be changing out the panels. If LTE appears with no panel change, then we would have definite confirmation that it's possible. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  18. EBS is pretty old spectrum. However, it was only recently opened up to mobile broadband usage. I think in 2006. Clearwire used it for its fixed wireless Expedience system since 2003. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  19. I roamed for a week in South Dakota where there is no Sprint service and had no reduction in battery life on my GS3. I think the scan interval increases if it cannot find a Sprint signal after so long. I was on Verizon the whole time. However, if you are in a fringe area of service, your device is always scanning for a better signal. And then it is increasing its power consumption when it does connect to a weak signal when it "screams" to the distant site it's connected to. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  20. The long answer is in about 30 different places in our forums. But the short answer is three fold: One, the WiMax network was supposed to much larger and robust to offload a lot of data off the 3G. Two, Sprint was spending its network money on keeping Clearwire WiMax afloat and starting Network Vision. Three, Sprint has been losing money for along time and did not have the resources to spend upgrading on a network they were just about to start dismantling with Network Vision improvements. However, the end of the old 3G network is near. The new 3G Network and LTE network are performing wonderfully. It looks like Sprint will be starting, completing or well underway in every market in the country by mid year. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  21. In Progress means work has started or is imminently starting at a site, as either confirmed by a member visually with photos or by a S4GRU source. It can be backhaul work, it can be new panels and tower RRU's. It can be ground mount RRU's. It just might mean new cabinets are delivered. Sometimes we find out a site is in progress days before it goes live. Sometimes we find out a site is In Progress just as they start backhaul. So it may be months a site stays In Progress. There is no average time a site stays In Progress. It's highly variable depending on what is being done there when it goes In Progress. We don't show all sites that are In Progress on our maps. Just the ones we know about. In Progress just simply means the site is confirmed being worked on. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  22. I just want to thank our sources here at S4GRU. You have to hide in the shadows and never get the public accolades you deserve. Thanks for all you do you to give us heads up about things like Howell. There is no S4GRU without you. Thanks for all of it. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
