. I went with ATT here because their WCDMA performs better than VZW LTE 750 here. VZW LTE now bogs down between 250kbps - 2Mbps on most sites here at peak times. They are deploying AWS already here. But it is going slow. And they don't fire up each site when its done like Sprint. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Service Alerts in Sprint Zone

I don't think this is a violation and it certainly brings no harm. I don't have a problem with this. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
I feel bad for people who make poor decisions because they were lied to. I really do. But it is never wise to trust commissioned sales people. In any industry. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

In my observations, there are areas where they appear to specifically set up sectors along coastlines to maximize coverage on land, and others where they appear that they are intentionally trying to cover water as well. I have noticed in many places along the coasts of Florida and Southern California that they often appear to point sectors directly across the water. However, in Washington State, Oregon and most of Northern California, the sectors seemed to be aimed toward land. (Not including inland bodies of water like SF Bay and Puget Sound) On a cruise through SF Bay and under the Golden Gate, I lost my signal only 1-2 miles out on the open sea. However, I have been able to keep a signal 12-15 miles out of Miami before. I like to look at the sectors when I am along the coast and see where they are aimed. It's fun. Well, at least to me. Occasionally you can find a MW radome pointed straight out to sea. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Is HD Voice now on? Mine appears to be working
S4GRU replied to Sim-X's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I like to think of it this way...what is displayed on your phone tells you what kind of connection you would have to the switch, not necessarily the type of connection you will have all the way through to the user on the other end. If the entire connection through to the other end supports HD voice, then your call may actually connect through that way. If only your connection on the call does, then it will not. Robert -

On the bottom rack for Sprint, it looks like it may only have two sectors. So they may be adding a third one facing another direction. But that wouldn't involve adding another rack. Robert

I can't tell from this pic. Sprint is definitely at the bottom. Robert

In my area it didn't happen until AT&T started deploying LTE. When we are on WCDMA, we have no issues. Robert

No, it's single path transmission. It requires a network with a well functioning CSFB network. SVLTE Android devices are unaffected. The Z10 may be designed to work like the iPhone. So it may be true to say that the OEM's that are using Android have decided to use a technology that utilizes CSFB on provider networks. However, it is not an issue with Android software in and of itself. An Android OEM could build a device that runs single path LTE like an iPhone or BB. Robert

I have no idea how it is done with wholesale partners. I know with Clearwire, it was set up with a different proxy for Sprint customers and they authenticated directly on the Sprint network through Clearwire. For all I know, nTelos may just use a white list of allowed devices. Since I'm ignorant of how nTelos/Sprint authenticate users, I could not begin to speculate on timelines. It's possible that it's live, but authentication for Sprint accounts is not set up yet. Thanks for checking. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

My wife has had the same issue with AT&T too with the Nexus 5. I haven't. But I am not in LTE coverage very often either. Except with AT&T, it doesn't appear that texts are going through LTE like they do on Sprint. So when she gets back on WCDMA, she will get all her texts at once. And if you call AT&T customer service, they will just cut you off and tell you it has to be the device and they do not support the Nexus 5. Then they they to sell you a phone they do support. I hate AT&T. At least Sprint (and Tmo) are doing something about it. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Yeah, they were not required to upgrade. However, Sprint threatened to overbuild them starting next year if they did not agree to new wholesale terms and an LTE overlay. I'm not sure if it makes them more likely as a buyout target. But I imagine Tmo would be interested too. nTelos also has a fair sized AWS network and spectrum. Reporting site outages/tickets.
S4GRU replied to lilg740's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I have had good success with emails to dan@sprint.com when conventional customer service channels would not let me open a ticket. Especially reporting Protection Site issues. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro -
Our thread title is a little misleading. I should probably clarify that nTelos is not doing a full Network Vision upgrade. nTelos has their own network and it is not a part of the Sprint network. This is different from Shentel, which is a part of the Sprint network. So technically, nTelos is not installing Network Vision equipment, nor converting their sites to NV standards. What they are doing is adding LTE equipment to their existing sites. They are using the same remote radios to do this overlay. However, in any technical sense it is not Network Vision. Sprint to buy PCS spectrum from Revol Wireless

I am also a misplaced Michigander. But is this what we've resorted to? What's worse? East Cleveland or Detroit? I could see a YouTube channel set up just to discuss this very critical question for society. Just comparing the two, every day. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
