  1. Nexus 5 has not received the Spark update yet. Also, there is not much live yet in Austin. But there are some Band 41 sites live now. Band 26 will start going live soon. Robert

  4. It's not old. If you have a WiMax device on an account in an area where they remove WiMax coverage early, they will give you an LTE device if you choose to complete your contract. If you want to walk, they will let you go with no termination fee. It hasn't happened anywhere yet, but if and when they do, they will give WiMax device owners a free LTE device. I doubt it will be a flagship device though. It also would not apply to people in Arizona where they have no WiMax markets. This is for customers in established WiMax markets who may have their WiMax service removed before the end of their contracts. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I'm happy for you guys. Yuma was one of the worst Sprint 3G areas in the country. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Some of these issues may be solved by the Nexus 5 Spark update that's coming soon too. Getting on some Band 41 around DFW could help a lot. Also, DFW is going to be an earlier Band 26 market. Texans are more likely to be inside all three Sprint LTE bands than many other areas of the country. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  8. Tmo is in a much better position in this regard. With Tmo and DT in Europe already having such a strong interconnection with other providers. And also being a 3GPP provider. Tmo has a strong leg up in this arena. Will be hard to duplicate. Sprint would have a better chance to start in Asia. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  9. I think this is an excellent idea. I thinking would encourage more revenue in the long run. Give people a taste of what it can do. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  10. I've been spoiled knowing every intimate detail of the Sprint network the past few years. I feel like I'm flying blind on other carriers. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  11. There should be some serious rural build out requirements for 600MHz, IMO. 600MHz is better used as a rural band anyway. With its strong propagation, it is well suited for long stretches of highway and the countryside. Where a tower that's signal reaches 20 miles from each sector would not be overburdened. 600MHz would not be a very good urban option. Especially a dense urban option. In an urban setting, it really couldn't be used on every existing site. And then if you spaced them out greater, then the capacity gets thin and it's easy to overwhelm. Especially considering that 600MHz is currently in 6MHz blocks. Will likely be a lot of carriers in increments of 5. Most likely a 5 or 10MHz wide TDD carrier. Also, 600 spectrum will be less available in urban areas and very plentiful in rural areas. A 10MHz wide TDD carrier would be awful in Manhattan only on every other site, or every second site. The capacity would be a fraction of one 20x20 AWS carrier. Not even a tenth. 600MHz would only be useful in urban areas as an overlay that's use was strictly controlled by the network that no one would be on it except as a last resort. 600MHz is not good for a capacity overlay at all. It is more about coverage. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Perfect! That's exactly what I'm using it for. To build some local AT&T maps for my use and track LTE deployment in my area. I'm also going to build VZW Band 4 LTE maps too. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  13. If you try to use Framily and then pay MSRP for a new device (especially a flagship device), then this plan is not a winner. So if you are looking to make bank off Framily and still have the hottest devices on Day One, the savings are not there. This plan is designed for people who own their devices, or get a great deal on a used device. Sprint has needed to do something for people who want to stay with Sprint and own their devices. Either they have paid them off, paid cash for them, bought them used, etc. These people were being fleeced by Sprint in the past because they had to pay the subsidized rate even though they had no subsidy. A waste of $15-$20 per line. Also, Sprint used to make anyone adding a new line who brought their own device sign a two year agreement. This was crazy. No other carrier does this. I have brought devices to all three other carriers and not required to sign a contract. So Sprint required BYOD customers to sign a two year commitment for their own phone, and pay a subsidy on top every month. Granted, they still retained their upgrade. But it was rediculous. These new Framily plans address these problems for many existing customers and new customers who want to come to Sprint. But it will not be a good option for everyone. If you already own your device and don't have to figure that cost in the deal, you come off pretty darn good. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Now we need our members to look for other Band 25 channels, double time. I'd love to see another channel. Urban areas in more mature deployment markets are the most likely to see an additional carrier. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  18. This may be one of the funniest oneliners ever used at S4GRU!!! Now that is nerdy and trashy, all at the same time!! It's sad that is what ABQ is known for outside of New Mexico though. Robert
  19. Also, bashing Sprint actually exposes a lot of their own flaws. They suffer from many similar issues. So Tmo is farther along with LTE deployment in some places. This is not a way to build an advertising campaign against Sprint. Tmo needs to point out how and why they are better than any generic competitor. Just point out flaws of their competition without naming names. That will be far more effective. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint customers already know what they dislike about their providers. If Tmo talks about each one of these weaknesses in a fun and educational way, they could win the masses. I would suggest Sprint do the same thing later in 2014. Robert
  20. I like it. It allows you to bring an unsubsidized device to a new line without a new 2 year agreement. Also, Sprint is accepting, even encouraging, that there already people banding together for family plans, who are not families. Might as well make some money on them too. This is a good plan. But it is pretty confusing when you start adding in the whole Sprint Easy Pay part. Robert
