  1. Yeah, if a B41 island near you can go live in less than 9 months you would be able to enjoy that. But probably not less than 5 or 6 months. You do not need to do anything to your Nexus 5. It should use B41 when it goes live in your area. It seems like the RenCen area would be near first, but with the Sprint deployment, it is never safe to say. Robert
  2. The IBEZ only affects 800MHz SMR band. And thus only Sprint. That's the first reason. The second reason is that Band 41 will not really infill any areas for quite some time, it will just start getting a little better on islands around Detroit for Triband device holders. Sprint may also start adding a second PCS carrier in the future. Just none of this is going to provide relief in the near future. Robert
  3. Wow, that is fast! Yeah, if people are having problems understanding the plans, then going more simple is probably a good idea. Robert
  4. I think Sprint has internal contingency plans to reduce its EBS holdings as needed as other spectrum opportunities arise. Also, know that the EBS/BRS bands are not contiguous. The largest contiguous piece is in BRS is approximately ~50MHz. There are lots of 4, 5, 6, 15 and 20MHz fractured pieces that are not contiguous with anything. And not every piece is in every market. The total amount of 2600 spectrum varies drastically by market, dependent on which BRS licenses Sprint has and the local lease agreements for EBS. In some markets, Sprint only has a whole bunch of fractured pieces and not the big BRS swath. WiMax becomes very cumbersome to keep moving around to keep clear of LTE demands. Especially if they have to pare down their EBS/BRS holdings in the future to pick up choice spectrum. It sounds good just to keep WiMax going in perpetuity. But the WiMax network has a real cost to Sprint. And if it isn't making them money, it's time to move on. And WiMax maintenance costs will just go up and up as WiMax equipment material costs are rising as companies jump out of the market. Plus Sprint is not producing any new WiMax devices. They are getting long in the tooth and their WiMax customer base will continually shrink as these people are forced to upgrade equipment. Face it, WiMax is dead. Stick a fork in it. We all are already writing the obituary. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  5. WiMax is on 10MHz TDD carriers in most instances. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  6. They did the B26 FIT in Montana somewhere. They may be clear on the Canadian side of the border in that region. And if not, it would just impact Kalispell and Great Falls. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  9. I have to do the same thing with my N5 on AT&T. Constantly doing Airplane Mode to get my LTE back. I think the LTE scan timers are way too conservative on the N5. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Please consult our Rules/Posting Guidelines: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/ We do not host Sprint complaints. People don't come to S4GRU to read about that you don't like it. They can read complaints at the dozens of other sites that host Sprint complaints. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  11. 800 voice helps everyone but you. The Low Frequency Gods think you have a potty mouth and withholding 800 from you. And don't ever tick off the Parking Gods, they're even more vindictive... Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  12. It will not be quick. Sprint will not be as good as the other providers in Detroit for awhile. Heck, T-Mobile will have their 700MHz A Block up and running in Detroit soon. Of course, you'll need a new device that supports B12 to get it. It's not Baton Rouge bad, but Sprint will not get better in Detroit until the IBEZ will allow 800MHz and B41 is in a lot of places. Neither will happen in the next 9 months. So if the current isn't good enough for you to get by, you may need to switch. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  13. If it doesn't meet your needs, then go. Period. We certainly won't be trying to get you to stay. We neither sell or advocate Sprint service. But Sprint service in Chicago is not bad anymore. But if you want something else, then give it a try. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Excellent point. I don't think I even considered the location of the thread I was commenting in. No PRL modification discussions in public areas. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  16. We don't have a problem with people using their roaming allotments via any PRL of their choice. But if they go over the 100MB/300MB data roaming limit (depending on plan) there may be consequences. I personally have no objection if members want to use their 300MB data roaming allowance slow on 1x or slightly less slow on EVDO. If someone asks us help with a PRL so they can abuse it, or try to get Sprint to let them out of their contract, then we would not assist in that. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  17. I thought they still had their CDMA network. Neal disabused me of that notion earlier today. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  18. Send a Tweet to the Twit and ask him yourself. But I don't think Tmo was a member of the CCA just because Sprint was going to offer to buy them out a year or two later. I don't see the connection. Robert
  19. Take pics of any Cellular One towers you come across. Would love to see some. See if anything interesting appears. Robert
  20. B41 is not meant to be a perfectly cohesive overlay with seamless wall to wall coverage over a city. Where that is achieved, then great. Verizon is not trying to make its Band 4 (XLTE) be perfect wall to wall either. What it is trying to do is cover most customers and relieve the other bands where they perform much better for customers who cannot connect to the wideband relief cells. Verizon is adding some XLTE Band 4 only sites where needed as infill, where the experience in between is insufficient for Band 13 alone. They have added one recently in my city. Sprint will do the same thing with Band 41 Spark. They announced they will be adding infill sites in areas as needed. Robert
  21. That is many, many hours I don't have. That doesn't even include tower spotting and fried chicken breaks! Robert
  22. No 40x40 mentioned in that article. It talks about 2x20, which sounds like carrier aggregation to me. 40x40 just isn't going to happen. Robert
  23. Let's continue any further Montana/Cellular One discussion in this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6296-sprint-to-expand-to-montana-using-shut-down-cellularone-sites/ Robert
