Thoughts on the Samsung ativ-q?

I recently built my own powerhouse desktop so I started the search for a really portable laptop(for a day of classes and such). Other than the obvious macbook air(with windows installed over the Mac OS), and the ativ 9 plus from Samsung this is the only option I've found that meets my main requirement (9+ hours of battery). I don't count traditional tablets because a decent sized keyboard is a must to me and I have a dislike for the crippled windows 8.1.

Anyone have thought on how this will turn out, or any other suggestions to look at?

Unfortunately, both the Samsung ATIV Q and the Asus version (I believe the Trio) will not be produced due to pressure form Google, Microsoft or any of the countless rumored resons (like patent problems). Its a shame too because the Q would have been my dream machine. In the meantime I ended up with the Sony VAIO Flip which is awesome except that it is not dual OS and it has a loud fan problem.

Aww really? Damn, I didn't read that anywhere.... I may resort to trying to get a test model now.

Yeah I wish this could of made it through. The ativ Tab 3 looks nice too. I might look into a larger tablet like this. Which patent issues were they having?

Yeah idea is great in my opinion, probably would be a decent game changer, something new and different. I would love one. But you know how it is with patent trolls these days :/

I did some googling and I could find anything specific. My guess is Microsoft got pissed at how easy it was to switch from windows to jellybean. Now it looks like the best deal is a macbook air...sigh I was really pulling for a decent ultrabook to come out:/. I like the zenbooks but two grand for a laptop if ridiculous.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
