GM to offer LTE Enabled Vehicles

Anyone here find it ironic that the Chevy "Spark" Will be LTE Enabled on AT&T?

Just another way to get people to pay  more or go over their data cap. Daily commuters streaming music from pandora looking at 2gb data a month, and that doesn't include anything else. NOPE

Should be a nice alternative to Sirius, which sounds like crap.

It makes sense they are using AT&T since they already have a contract with them for Onstar. 

 

It would, however, be nice if car manufacturers just included a sim card slot and then let the consumer pick which carrier to go with.

I thought I read that it can use your cellphone's data connection.

AT&T said it will announce pricing for LTE-enabled vehicles when they debut this summer."

In related news audi, gm, and honda will all feature Android powered infotainment systems soon. I imagine it's part of the 'lte enabled' thing. I'll sure be happy when I can root, unlock, and custom rom my car

Did VZW lose the OnStar contract to AT&T?  I seem to recall reading that.  We probably even discussed it here.

Yeah, starting with the 2014 model year vehicles, IIRC. All previous models will still use VZW. I'm somewhat surprised they agreed to that since I'm sure it will severely hurt Onstar if VZW just decided to ditch them.
