Want "Beats Audio" on your Android device?

XDA Developer RockoDev (the same developer that ported Beats Audio to the Photon) has released a recovery flashable MOD that claims to work with all Android 2.3+ operating systems.

There were several threads with the MOD, but it seems to be consolidated to the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226

This MOD is supposed to port Beats Audio and Xloud and give better sound performance to all devices.

Be careful if you are going to try this out. There are many comments about people soft-bricking their phones and being stuck in a boot loop, so make sure you backup prior to attempting it.

Also see XDA writeup about it http://www.xda-developers.com/android/beats-audio-now-available-on-any-gingerbread-rom/

saw this. What some should understand is that while this does give some improvement in itself it still does not go near as deep as the "official" Beats audio does. Official Beats is in the framework and also the kernel itself. If you flashed any of Chad's original kernels for the EVO3D you will understand that the amount in the kernel is a great deal in itself.

And currently if you read the thread there, there is a decent amount of skeptics to it even fully working with valid reasons...

ie freeza's post saying "...there's nothing to call upon any of those libs..."

regardless to get FULL Beats you need kernel side of it too.

I was going to post something on that. I've been reading through the thread and while the first 10 pages or so are full of positive comments and people saying that it didn't flash properly, it gets negative from there. Not sure if it is a placebo effect or what. I would imagine that if it was ACTUAL "beats audio" HTC would be all over it and it wouldn't make it 3 hours on XDA.

Yeah reminds me of one of the HD netflix app that was in that section long ago that one guy claimed to add windows codecs and such which he did but the apk never called for them so they were useless. Lol

Yeah, I should have been suspicious when it said it was a universal flash for all Android 2.3+ devices. I guess I jumped the gun.

Don't you need Beats headphones to take full advantage of the Beats codecs anyway?

I read through all 41 pages of comments. What I found was that there are 2 people claiming that they tested the sound output before and after flashing the Beats MOD and it made a difference, and there are 2 claiming that it made no effect.

There is also someone claiming that anyone running an ICS ROM will not see any difference because ICS already has improved sound codecs. That could be why there is a difference.

Either way, if someone adventurous wants to take a stab at it, make sure you backup before trying it and know how to flash with ODIN because it may soft-brick your device.

Also, I think it's funny that the tags for the thread are: beats audio, broken app, egomaniac, rockodev

Kind of old here so this would probably be wasted on me

Gotta think resale value when you finally replace it! As the homies and OG's get into smart phones, it's always good to have a throw down it case the original gets damaged in a fight, robbery or drive by.

So what is it with these headphones. In my airport travels, I noticed all the bruthas had these things on. No earbuds for them.

Kinda funny that this one guy was bobbing his head..I couldn't hear the audio so I was fine with him jamming out. Except it was time for take off and the attendant didn't appreciate it too much. He tried to tell her it was off and he was just singing in his head. Ummm...yeeeaaaahhhh.

Its all in the dr. dre beats brand name. For the same price you can get a much better set of headphones.

Although I haven't done a complete comparison of headphones, I was super impressed with the quality of Beats headphones. Good stuff! And if I traveled as much as I used to, I'd get a pair. But thankfully, I don't.

They are Monster audio. I own Klipsche headphones and they crush the over priced Beats by Dre for half the price. You read the reviews and you will see why.
