It's the same device. The name was unknown at the time if the article when it cleared the FCC OET. However, that was the name it was believed to be back then.

 

It does not support SVDO, but does SVLTE. Just like the new Note 2.

It appears that Sprint is starting to pull no SVDO in all newer devices. Maybe SVDO was just a bridge feature until they were well underway with Network Vision.

thanks for the reply, but since i have no clue about SVDO or SVLTE , can you explain if it does voice/data at the same time on 3g and lte? thanks

It does not support simultaneous voice and data in 3G, but does while connected to LTE.

 

SVDO = Simultaneous voice and 3G data

SVLTE = Simultaneous voice and LTE data

I have updated the LG Eclipse/Optimus G article with the new name and a few LTE EIRP figures that were absent from the initial FCC OET application.

The Note 2 does not support SVDO. SVLTE only.

 

The Photon Q and EVO LTE support SVDO.

It appears to not be. Even the LG Mach, the keyboard toting brother to the LG Viper, lacks SVDO support too.

SVDO was never an intentional feature of any Sprint device. It was a side bonus caused by the way the antenna structures had to be designed in some devices. It is also very network-dependent, the phones always give priority to voice when low signal is encountered and the data connection will be dropped intentionally to keep that voice connection active using the alternate antenna to augment signal (at least the way I understand it). This is why it was/is never advertised.

SVDO is nice to have while LTE builds out. Similiar to doing data on wimax and voice on cdma.
