Network Vision/LTE - Miami/West Palm Market

Mondays In Flames

Recommended Posts

Flew into the Fort Lauderdale Airport last night and my S3 had it's first 4Gasm. :D

Ran a speed test on the plane and pulled 7.73 down and a little over 9 up. Mapped on sensorly as I was leaving the airport and still had 4G for a little while, but haven't uploaded the results yet. I see it's pretty well mapped around there anyway.

I was just happy to get some LTE on my new phone for the first time!!!

I am going to be experimenting on updating my radio on the Evo to 2.13 apparently it doesn't have the connection issues. A friend in SF mentioned that he updated it, and didn't have to toggle airplane mode anymore.

Maybe that means Sprint is near on releasing a OTA update.

Isn't 2.13 the one that came out last, a month or more ago?

nope that's the firmware, but the radio firmware is lower on that last update.. restart the phone in recovery and see the radio firmware there

The tower by turnpike and pembroke rd is finally on. Just passed by and got a strong lte signal for a pretty good stretch. The panels were installed 3 weeks ago but were not on until today. Wish I could map it.

I don't see any NV panels. It appears to me the top rack is Sprint. Picking out legacy panels can be tough. Lots of different vendors and different generations of gear out there make for a lot of legacy panel variation. However, NV panels are much easier to spot.

Thanks robert. I have seen lte getting closer to me now there is some spots in pompano beach an deerfeild so its only a matter of time. Plus I'm on ehrpd so that is a positive. An by the way my friend did get wimax on his old evo he got 10 mbps down average. I think it might have been from this tower. We did the speed test when we were coming up on the tower

im really curious to know how building penetration is with Sprint's LTE. I've read in theory how its going to be, but im curiious to know if anyone has any real world testing cuz obviously Wimax was pretty bad. I would get 10 mbps at spots outside only to enter a building and literally the 4g signal would drop.

I was able to get amazing speeds inside the Hollywood Library (24+ mbps down), but when i checked the sponsored map sections (thanks Robert) i found out I was a couple of blocks from the LTE tower so I'm curious to know how strong/weak my signal would be if I were outside vs inside a mile or so away from a tower.

Anyone with LTE at their house that isn't too close to a tower?

I did a lot of LTE testing in the Waco FIT with a lot of different devices. LTE would lose on average 8 to 10 dBm going inside of buildings on average. The same as 1x and 3G. Its also the same loss as VZW LTE.

There was a huge variability from building type. So its hard just to say how is signal strength indoors, in general.

At my mother in law's house my Evo fluctuates between - 94 and - 114 when on LTE, and because it's an Evo it would frequently revert to 3g. My wife's S3 would hold on to the 4g signal but I didn't check the db on hers.

does anyone know why u cant pick up lte anymore on turnpike from 152 st too 200 st i used to get now i dont...

My guess would be the area where you use to get it was a prelaunched site and they may have been testing it. And just to let y'all know, next summer I'll be taking a roadtrip from Butler, PA to Westfield, IN and I'll be mapping any 4G connections I get to sensorly

This is a little out of topic but Im not sure where else I could ask this question. So for the past 4 days safari on my iphone 5 as well as 3 other iphone 4 have been experiencing very slow page loading on safari as well as other browsers. Is like the browser hangs for about 1 minute and then loads quick all of a sudden. The strange thing is that applications work flawlessly, speed tests, instagram, tapatalk, Facebook etc. all work flawlessly, only web browsing hangs. This is happening all around SW Miami in different towers and 3 other iPhones. I even tried restoring my phone but nothing seems to fix it. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Oh and wifi works fine.

Im glad Im not the only one. I called sprint and they told me my phone was defective and to take it to the Apple store; mind you it was right after I told them the other three phones in my line were having the same problem  . Hopefully this means they are working hard to get us more LTE goodness.

3g at the Fort Lauderdale airport. I was expecting more 4G but guess they turned it off temporarily. I was able to stream YouTube with out buffering. What a nice feeling :)
