  1. The other side of the coin is noted, but If I am going to find a house to live in, I would like to have cell service, cable service etc. Be it provided by a pole, tower or a dish. Without it, in my opinion, brings down the value of the area. Probably the same folks complaining that are living near a high voltage tower that brings in the electricity to power up that microwave for their tv dinner. Health reason be damned as long as I have my MTV and Microwave.
  2. ^ This is where I see the most benefit for both sides, company and consumer. Those NIMBY folks can suck it.
  3. Does that $200-250k to build estimate assume it will be the same to put up panels on a building or an existing street pole. I don't think so. A site and or panels are not exclusive to towers if I am not mistaken.
  4. I'll check today to see if it drains, I had the phone off yesterday after the update since I was in the movie theater doing the Guardians of the Galaxy double feature and then went straight home to bed. If it doesn't solve it I just might install the lite apps mentioned in this article, since most of them are the ones that drain more battery juice. TS out
  5. peaking of sunsetting CDMA, I believe Verizon did, but I can't recall if there was a date given (if ever) by Sprint as to when they will sunset CDMA. TS
  6. Maybe because of recent threads like the "Long Time User Thread" or "Time Past Remembrance" Threads, I started getting this nostalgic feeling of the begin times in S4GRU. So I figure I'll do a Throw Back Thursday thread S4GRU style and post up a link to a post/thread that I posted that I am fond of. So go ahead and post up your favorite post/thread link. here is mine. (just click on the image for thread) TS out
  7. Interesting, I did the April 1st update and due to Matts post I checked and there is another one. The April 1st update was Software Version is G935PVPS4BQC1 (50.28MB) This new one is G935PVPU4BQD2 (149.47MB). Downloading now.
  8. hmmm that's odd. I saw that earlier today and left a tweet response and I come to check it now and both the tweet was gone and I was blocked by the guy. I didn't say anything out of line. wow
  9. Unless there is a sort of Hail Mary in the next hour, I guess Marcelo and the rest of the executives at Sprint are not going to get their bonuses since its only one hour before the closing bell of the Stock Exchange and the stock is below $8. its currently at 7.80 5 months above $8 and on the last day, POOF
  10. Awesome, since the Airave is a mini cell/site booster, I guess I can now put house makers on our maps. Damn, that sucks for him.
  11. it could be KFC or home made, if its fried chicken, the man will be there. great, now I'm hungry. ugh btw that link/pic looks great.
  12. Good article. Question if I may. Since it covers an area of 30,000 sq ft indoors and 100 meters outdoors, I assume that each box won't interfere with a neighbors box if they also had one. I would also add that even if Son announced tomorrow a merge of the two companies, nothing will get done until after it is approved (usually a year after) and then another 1 or 2 if not more for equipment and phone changes. By then another version of the magic box would probably be in the pipeline.
  13. That chart is Interesting. Taking NYC for example, if that is on one avenue only, from Grand St to 23rd st (1 and 1/2 straight mile) or all blocks above Grand St and below 23rd st. roughly 4.83 sq miles. Would be cool if they included all 304 sq miles of NYC for comparison. Speaking of which, as I checked the sq miles of each of those cities I was surprised to find out that Houston has more sq miles than NYC (629 overall).
  14. Been with S4GRU almost from the beginning give or take 4-5 months I believe. Started out giving ideas, then helped out with modding by reporting stuff and eventually ended up on staff. Learn something new each day, but most of the technical stuff, no matter how hard I try, flies over my head. So I just sit in the background mostly quiet, except for every 3 months when the earnings come out or a new device I like comes out or if I give a one way ticket to Banlandia. Came really close to meeting a few members in real life, but didn't pan out do to scheduling, work and real life. etc. I like the members, staff, style and uniqueness of the forum, unlike many others that for lack of better words are, crazy and disappointing. 15. Thanks, I saw it on the laptop. Unit is a bit bigger than I thought. He said, "I just sold to T-Mobile" They said "Welcome to T-Mobile" Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll run away now before AJ hits me with the "Stop Spreading alternative Facts" ruler.
  16. Ironically there is a video of Gunther showing it off on the newsroom.sprint.com/magic-box site but it keeps crashing on my (work) pc. Gonna have to switch to my incognito work laptop to view it.
  17. Really. Wow That is awesome. But if one leaves Sprint and doesn't return it, it states (in that link you posted) that Sprint may charge up to $140 to a Sprint customer. So even if they did charge for it, $140 isn't that bad. But Free is great. I wonder how this may affect their bottom line giving so many out for free.
  18. ummm wasn't Sprint calling the Airave the "magic box" since 2007? The Airave. A personal base station for the home. This time LTE.Although the webpage doesn't show the LTE version, just says 3G. ^ Correction by nexgencpu made below...
  19. This thread sure has been quiet lately, therefore let me ask the following,... Recently, "Straight Path Communications" was being bid by AT&T last month to acquire it for its 28 GHz and 39 GHz millimeter wave spectrum, but a new bidder emerged which some are speculating is Verizon. The stock has soared through the roof. (rising 253.7 % in three months) But one analyst is stating it may be Softbank. In her analysis, she describes the reason why it may be Masa. Even though all points seem to lead to Verizon being the secret bidder, I do find the idea interesting if it was Masa trying to acquire more spectrum. Any thoughts?
