  1. No problem! This is the tower that is serving my home. I can't wait till the "switches is flipped".

Spreadsheet updated.  You should really make a donation and become a sponsor.  You will NOT be disappointed with the information / maps / spreadsheet that we have created for Columbus. Just FYI.

  2. Here are the pics from the Brisbane Ave tower in Westerville. It looks like they are done although there boom lift is still here, but there's no crew.

So the question is when will it go live?!

Great Pics!  Thanks for posting them.

  3. I'm having an unexpected issue with tasker on the N5 I don't seem to get any results on cellnear scans. I think it may be because it turns 1x off when LTE is connected. I used that a lot.

Same problem, I would use cell near scans to enable wifi.  I do not believe you can do that anymore, :(.

  4. Sorry for a side track, but signal check keeps crashing , usually after airplane toggles with the combo of clicking on the app on the slide down menu. Have you been hearing a lot of it?

Ya it seems like towers with ecsfb issues cause it to potentially lock up.

Same problem here, I usually have to force close the app and restart it for it to work again.  Such a great app, I'm sure Mike is already working on it.

  5. Hey Friends, Here is the speed test from today on Band 41, Really need to find a way to block out Band 25, there has to be away to set this phone to go to Band 41 all the time, right now it only goes to Band 41 when Band 25 completely drops out. Here is today's speed .. smoked my U Verse 20mbs LMAOOOO.

So you are connecting to this with a Nexus 5 with no special "tricks"?  I am still having issues with connecting to B41 on confirmed sites here locally...

You didn't by chance drive around the tower and get the other two numbers did you?  It appears this is a new LTE site.

EDIT: Looking at the spreadsheet, this tower may have been found already.  If you can verify the other two serving cells that would be a big help.  I'm a little slow this morning, if you check out the sponsor thread this site has been confirmed with all three serving cells.  I can post the location there.

  7. Already a sponsor, just more of a lurker. And I think SPRINT should be thanking US for our patience. :-)

Touche, misread that... Couldn't agree with you more, but thank you for being patient on this site.  Our thread is one of the best as far as I'm concerned.

  8. Pataskala LTE went live last night around 9:30, at least the far eastern portion of Pataskala. Haven't had the opportunity to go west towards Reynoldsburg yet, but LTE out further east has been up since then. Speedtest showed about 6mb both down and up. Fastest I've seen on local 3G was about 1.5mb. Saw some guys working on cabinets at one of the tower sites and snapped a pic. Updated the sponsor forum with specifics on two sites. I think Oakley707 picked up LTE off a third tower in Pataskala as well. Woop woop! Premium data charges on my sprint bill since the original Evo...FINALLY some high speed love at the house. :-)

I grabbed some extra LTE sites as you mentioned.  If you grab a sponsorship to this site you will be able to see what sites are live.

    Thanks for your patience!

  9. Right after the update, the first time I recharged my battery, it drained really fast. When I checked the battery menu, it showed "Android System" used 79% of the total battery use and had 13 hours of use time. Since then, it has sorted out. Yesterday I logged 37 hours before I plugged it in before bed.

    That's a long day.. :D

  10. i just want 800 band

As described above, the phone WILL work with 800 band.  Just not currently.  We need to wait for the Spark update for our device to work.  Patience is key, the update is supposed to arrive Q12014 (which is kind of right around the corner...).

  11. So no series of PRL/Profile/Airplane/Restart will get me onto Band 41 here in KC despite being in a "Turbo" area as designated by Sprint maps.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I cannot get B41 in my area as well.  I'm on baseband .17, you'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands...

  12. I haven't noticed anything.  I just throw it down and pick it up in the morning.  The case is a bit warmer but that's to be a expected, nothing crazy.  I haven't installed any app to look at the temp.

I have a TLYT charger also with no impact on temperature.  At least nothing noticeable.  I've been using it since Christmas.

  13. Anyone know when 4G LTE will be available in the Gahanna/Blacklick area 43230/43004? On Jan. 25th, I got a text from Sprint saying, "Over the next month the new network will be largely completed in your area making it better than ever!"

When will it actually be available to use it?

Keep in mind that text was site Country-wide.  So it has no bearing at all on your service being completed.  We all agree, it is a terrible marketing gimmick that just misinforms customers.  Thankfully, you are on S4GRU so you will stay much more informed than most.

EDIT: Also, we do not have many spotters in that area.  If you are available and willing you should become a sponsor.  This will allow you to see a Google Maps version of all Sprint towers with in progress towers and completed towers.  We can always use an extra set of eyes.

  14. And I was going to put "those things you use at the gym...oh wait..nevermind.." :)   Speaking of that..  every time I come back from the gym passing the Popeye's and Raising Canes with the windows and sun roof open creates a huge temptation that is hard to resist!

Raising Canes dipping sauce...emmmm. I've only had it once in Texas. But I could go for so e right now.

Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Mmmmmm.... Raising Canes.  I haven't had that in too long.  That dipping sauce is so addicting.

  15. Not everybody. Mine still just says "no firmware update available".

May be the issue... Someone just posted above you that it is called LG software update, not firmware update...

  16. If you are actively using CDMA1X, an e/CSFB single RF path handset cannot search for LTE. That is not possible. So, some other reason is the cause for the dropped calls.

    AJ

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. I'll look into why / if I can replicate it.

  17. For sake of clarity, that is very low signal because those are negative numbers.  The high/low dBm issue causes considerable confusion.

    AJ

I appreciate the quick response.  I understand the dB, I'm more confused with how or why the phone is looking for LTE service when I'm ON a phone call.  It certainly makes sense when I'm using data, but why is the phone searching / connecting to an LTE tower when I'm on voice.  I would have thought the preference would be to other 1X towers...?  I hope that helps clarify my original question.  Thanks again.

  18. So, I guess this makes sense but I noticed some odd behavior (to me) of my Nexus 5 recently.  A new LTE B25 site went live in my area / commute home.  It is providing very fringe / high dB service in the 115's to 120s.  The tower has incredible range and the area is conveniently flat in that area.  What I've noticed is that I'll be on a cell phone call and experience a dropped call.  As soon as the call drops, I'll get LTE service (albeit very high dB) for a little while before it switches back / moves to the next tower.  The reason I bring this up is because without this tower being live I wouldn't have any problem using my phone during the drive.  With what I've learned from this site, it makes sense that my phone is dropping and have issues with NV and legacy (Samsung / Moto market), but is it normal that my phone is actively hunting LTE while I'm on a phone call?  Especially with a triband device.  I apologize if it is an ignorant question, just trying to get a better understanding of how this "system" all works.  I suppose the engineer in me...

    Thank you in advance.

  19. I managed to get LTE on iphone5 today at marysville high school for a short period of time. If I can get it back I will speedtest it and get a screen shot. 3G seems much faster here as well. Compared to what I am use to.

All of Marysville has been upgraded to NV in some capacity.  There are quite a few towers that are LTE as well.  Any screenshots would be appreciated.

  20. I was able to get my nexus 5 to connect to the b41 lte :) found a tutorial on xda on how to enable the bands.

Post some screenshots of a speed test / engineering screens!!!  I have a Nexus 5 and have been unable to connect to any B41 towers.  Where were you at?

    Thanks.

  21. Oh, good call on the phone number, thanks. So will this tower ever broadcast a non b41 signal that my girlfriends One can access or my N5 without this Spark update? I guess I'm a bit miffed that sprint would roll out an even newer network that its older LTE phones can't use, before even rolling out the LTE network those devices were designed for, and never got to use. Seems as though a lot of people would be getting the shaft from Sprint. Here, buy this phone, we are building our LTE network. I know you don't have it yet, but buy this top teir phone and soon it will get LTE. Oh wait, just kidding, we are skipping that LTE and going with something else grrrrrr

Unfortunately, the problem is lack of communication from Sprint.  If you were not on this website researching the information yourself you would be completely uneducated on the matter.

Having said that, here is what you need to know in a nutshell.  Sprint recently acquired Clearwire who had a pretty decent / large Wimax network in Columbus.  This Wimax network is being phased out and in turn will be converted to B41 LTE.  Concurrently, Sprint is rolling out Network Vision improvements that will add both 1900 Mhz LTE and 800 Mhz LTE (later down the road) to all existing Sprint towers.  As you can see, the two projects are NOT the same and therefore do not depend on each other.  From what we know they are not even being executed by the same teams at all.  Totally different project managers / contractors working on the Clear towers vs. the Sprint towers.  I know this may be more than what you were asking for, but it is the least I can do to explain the situation.

Reynoldsburg / the entire Columbus market is being upgraded to NV which will move all (read: 95% of the towers) to 4G LTE @ 1900 Mhz to start and later be updated to 800 Mhz LTE.  Also, all Clear towers are being upgraded to B41 or 2500 Mhz 4G LTE as well.  The NV towers are already being upgraded and if you make a small donation to this site you can gain access to that information.  Which includes full Google Maps with information on expected completion date / progress to date.  We do not have a ton of members in the Reynoldsburg area so that would be great to get you added so you can scope some towers by you to see if the work is completed.

The HTC One has access to only 1900 Mhz LTE while the N5 has access to 1900, 800 and 2500 Mhz LTE.

    Keep the questions coming.

  22. So I won't be able to connect yet with my nexus 5 or my girlfriends HTC One?

Thank you for the response btw.

Correct, no dice on the N5 or the HTC One.  Keep in mind the HTC One will not be able to connect to B41 altogether.  While the Nexus 5 will be able to, just needs to get the official Sprint Spark update.  Which, unfortunately noone has a good understanding of when that is going to happen.  We are thinking 1st quarter of this year.  The LG G2 just received its update earlier this week and we are thinking it should be "soon" after that we receive it for the LG N5.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
