  1. Actually that's B41 on the note 4 on last screen shot, (starts with 03 clear B41) Samsung doesn't always report properly.

Otherwise cool comparison, gives us a pretty good idea of the performance difference if any.

One thing I do notice is how much stronger B26 is on the N6 vs the other devices, that could explain my theory of why it hangs on to B26 a lot better than the N5.

Yea, I noticed the same thing... That is quite a jump for b26 performance. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm on the fence with this phone.

  2. I've been using the new radio for several days now.  I don't see any improvement to holding on to LTE or better scan times once it drops off.  It also likes to hang on to a -105 1xRTT signal here when there is also -85 1x800 available.

Edit: I am still on 4.4.4.  Wonder if it behaves differently on 5.0 Lollipop?

Same experience here on 4.4.4, although I'm noticing more 1X 800 -- although that could just be a coincidence. It certainly does not seem any worse for me though, and I'm sure there are improvements of some kind hiding in there.

    -Mike

Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm on 4.4.4 and the new radio with little to no effect.  Still drop to 3g quite a bit and haven't noticed any increase in LTE.  I also randomly experienced more 1X 800, but agree it may also be a fluke.  I hope the final L radio is slightly better.  One can hope, right  :D ?

  3. Perhaps they haven't increased the backhaul yet. In Boston, the first time I connected to an 8T8R site it was running at what seemed like a 40Mbps cap, but later I connected to a different 8T8R site in Chestnut Hill, where I was able to pull 71Mbps from.

Yea, I think that is all it is.  Backhaul is live for that site (B25 and B26 connections), I just don't think they have "distributed" it for the B41 yet.  Here's to hoping it happens soon, :D!

  4. Well......on an unloaded site sure. Because Sprint is behind in capacity once a site is opened up and customers using it that may not happen unless you luck out.

When band 26 went live near me i could get 30 to 40 down on one sector but a different sector 2 or 3. This was a site that had just gone live and it was already full of data gobbling customers.

Just to note that much more spectrum available for 2.5Ghz, so the capacity woes of 5x5 1900 Mhz shouldn't be a problem.  We will never know until they go live.

I agree with others, Sprint B41 doesn't seem to be 100% configured.  Couldn't get above 30-40 and it felt capped.  It is very possible they are still testing these sites before a full switch / go.

  5. This is my all-time favorite phone. It's rare that I'm not chomping at the bit to grab the latest-and-greatest as soon as I'm eligible for a discounted upgrade.. I've been eligible since June and have no interest in anything else out there right now. We'll see what the Nexus 6 brings to the table, but I'm good for now.

    -Mike

Couldn't agree more.  Same situation, upgrade in June and I've been more than content with this phone.

  6. Oh, you might already have MAXX in your area then

You're paying for the Extreme and only getting 30/5?

    I'm in Queens, NY though.

    Yup, this chart explains it.

irev201, any idea / place we can look for when an area will be MAXX available?  I'm just salivating over here...

  7. Not quite. Google currently says Sprint customers using GV "shouldn't turn on text messaging and voicemails in Hangouts. This will cause problems with your text messages." So while you want to integrate Sprint and GV, you don't want to merge GV and Hangouts. Does that make sense?

I have it changed now and you are right it does show up as my Sprint number when dialing from wifi / data.  This is HUGE in my opinion.

Thank you for the heads up, as soon as I opened up Hangouts it asked me if I wanted to merge over.  It is like you were reading my mind, :D!

  8. Yes, that's the issue. You have to be using GV for the call to come from your number.

Thanks for the quick response.  I may have to try that then.  This will also enable the voicemails to show up in hangouts as well, right?  So, all I have to do is enable the GV integration correct?  May try that today and see how it works.

  9. I just realized I can make calls on WiFi using my sprint number with hangouts dialer app. Sweet!

I want to make sure I understand your post... Don't you mean you can make WiFi (data calls) thru your Google Voice number with the hangouts dialer?  Whenever I make a call from the dialer and select data call it comes up as if I'm using an 800 number.

I do NOT have integration from Google Voice, maybe that is the problem?  I had many problems with that before, is that the issue?  If that is the case, I may be switching that out soon.  I much prefer data calls, for the obvious benefit of SVLTE.

    Thanks.

  10. All I have to say is that I have Extreme Internet from TWC in my hometown (just outside Columbus, OH) and get 30/5 speeds just as advertised.  I sure am jealous of your speeds from TWC... I wonder when our neck of the woods will get upgraded.

I agree with everyone above though.  I have the SB6141 and Asus RT-N66R combination which has worked flawlessly with my BuffaloNAS (LS421DE930).

    LG G3

Ah, good idea, thanks.  I tossed it on my Drive account and made it public.  Emailed the link, and boom, installed.  Thank you!!

FWIW, it sounds like a driver issue.  Just because the computer recognizes the phone for MTP does NOT mean that it is configured / drivers are installed for ADB.  Glad it worked the other way, much easier.

  11. ...and upping the amount that I pay to Sprint.

What got me to do this? Their business plans.

So I'll be getting unlimited voice + data + 3GB tethering on my phone for $45/mo with no contract (no subsidy, obviously). Plus another 3.1GB shared between a Zing and a Galaxy Tab 4 (which I'll probably mail to my littlest brother for use at college after I play with it for a few days) for another $45/mo, on-contract with subsidies slightly above the ETFs for those lines.

Consider this my vote of confidence in Sprint's ability to get Spark running everywhere I want it. I'm already nearly fully covered with B25+B26, and it's no mistake that all three devices I'll have (Nexus 5, Zing, GTab) are tri-band.

We'll see what happens. But I for one will enjoy having all of that legit tethering data at my disposal, in case for example Time Warner Cable decides to have another backbone failure, or whatnot.

I'll have to look into their business plans.  That sounds substantially better than what I've looked at before.

EDIT: I just looked again and see $65 for that same plane.  Are you really getting a 30% discount on top of that?

    Thanks for the heads up.

I think you may be referring to the router that I said I was beta testing. While I am connected to a TP-Link router/modem in this screenshot, I disconnected from the beta router's 5ghz channel and purposely connected to the TP-link before taking a screenshot. This is not the test I'm in currently...but you are correct...I am on a TP-Link Archer in that screenshot.

I was connected to FBI-SurveillanceVan but it only has 2.4 bands....

    Touche.
