  1. When everything is so easy in school you get used to being lazy. Still, I suppose I prefer having smarts over not.
  2. I get so tired of hearing this. Why would you expect some slightly-above-minimum-wage person whose entry-level job is to sell or troubleshoot phones to have any clue what Sprint's contracts are or when technology will be deployed. Ask at the corporate level for those types of questions.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

That may be as my memory sucks. I will look for the article. It was something about this being a followup to the Evo 4G, "of which 7 million were sold. But I think you are probably right as Sprint has what, 50 million subs? I doubt 7 mil, or 14%, got the Evo 4G.
  4. You bet. I prefer Google's DNS servers of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I doubt where Sprint's servers are would make much of a difference but I would bet that they would be slower and more problematic then Google's. There was a big East Coast outage where a specific model of card could not get to any webpage unless you used its IP address. Sprint took a couple of weeks to find and fix that so I just changed people to Google.
  5. Sprint maintains two redundant data centers though I cannot remember where they were. I suspect the DNS servers would be there. Why?

Just read an article that said Sprint sold 7,000,000 Evo 4Gs.

That is what is showing as retail price before discounts/rebates/credits.

    Off contract price is $549.
  9. Sprint has their own DNS servers.

  11. No joke. I actually want to learn even more (and be able to understand what is being posted.)
  12. I am trying to learn more about the wireless technology for which I provide tech support. Anyone have links to material that an intelligent layman could understand. Somewhere around undergraduate level.
  13. Yeah. Check Robert's maps or I can look at work.
  14. I suspect either hand off issues or the overlap/underlap is problematic. Wireless dorks, what say you?
  15. Here are some more stats for Chicago market: Capacity upgrades: 91 to 180 days ago = 298 Last 90 days = 59 Next 90 days = 382 91 to 180 days = 498 Seems like a strategy change in there or something. They slowed waaay down and are now screaming.
  16. Found some info. "High block/drop rates: During the migration to Network Vision those customers on the boundary between NV sites and legacy sites will experience a higher than normal block/drop rate. The rate will continue until the boundaries are reduced by the introduction of additional NV sites."
  17. Illinois was one of the areas with horrible capacity issues, wasn't it? Maybe Sprint is cutting over 3G towers as they go to alleviate the issue and will go live with 4G LTE later.
  18. I have confirmed it is the NV conversion that is causing major headaches from Chicago west. I suspect we will see lots more issues as other towns convert. However, I suspect it will be just the 3G NV radios that cause the issues now. I know they have lit up 4G NV towers here with no 3G NV radios and we have no problems. I can check Chicago tomorrow again, but I do believe they are firing up 3G towers. Robert, can you confirm?
