  1. Found another option in terms of an S5 keyboard case, but at first glance I don't particularly care for the keyboard layout on this one...its crammed into 4 rows and the spacebar is on the right side instead of in the middle.  Have to think that would feel totally unnatural.  Nonetheless, here it is for anyone wanting to consider it:

  2. "Average people" are not watching Internet forums with baited breath waiting for a mobile phone update to hit and being concerned about whether or not it comes 1 hr, 1 day or 1 week after an Internet post that they didn't read in the first place. "Average people" will get a notice on their phone at some point and say "Hmm, wonder what this is." The people on XDA or even this forum, including myself, are the fringe of the fringe in the global mobile phone market.

That will generally always be true by comparison to the overall general public, but this being the internet and the 'information age' growing daily, as more and more people migrate to mobile technologies, more and more people will also find their way to sites like these all the same.  And I believe there's more to be gained by exercising patience and tolerance in light of that fact rather than the type of reaction/response people typically get over there at least.

  3. It's the same old idiots on XDA. Same thing, sprint announces the update and it rolls out a few days later. It'll be all dooms and gloom before the rollout hits critical mass after a few days and everything is forgotten and Google is blessed by all.

So spot on.  XDA is such a cluster in terms of the forums and, IMO, that's not just in terms of the typical membership but also alot of the way the place is moderated as well.  For a place with so much useful information, its not very accommodating to average people who want to learn how to do things because of all the impatience and negativity and sense of entitlement by so many of the long-in-the-teeth sect of the membership.  I used to spend so much time there, but I barely have even touched the site since I was introduced to this one.

  4. I don't mind a harder way to edit just as long at I can edit it. They did only charge me restocking on one of the phones. I was lucky. Once there is a method out to update PRL on one of the newer phones I'll probably switch to that once and for all. I'm very happy with the S4 though.

I think though the point would be that most people would either (a.) be patient enough to wait for the method to be able to switch PRL's to be discovered and publicized and not take the phone back over that minor of an issue, or else (b.) be patient enough to wait for the method to be able to switch PRL's to be discovered/publicized before buying the phone to begin with.  ;)

  5. It's a joke because you can't edit the PRL?? Ha.

That's particularly funny to me mainly because I've yet to have one of the 'easy mode' phones in regards to PRL's....I've had to use QPST on the 2 Android phones I've had thus far.

  6. Has anyone started running ART? I'd be interested to see how the battery life goes on ART vs dalvik on this phone.

I saw this question asked on XDA too, and I have to ask....what is ART?

Edit:  Nevermind, I finally found it once I stopped doing searches associated with Samsung and Galaxy S and switched to Android.  For anyone else in the dark as well, here you go:

  7. The S4 had issues with enforcing a dock mode due to voltage requirements of the USB and the new "home" modes of Android 4.2+. There are a bazillion threads on it over at XDA. I'm certain that enforcing a dock mode with a car dock (ie, click phone in and a new screen pops up like it did with the S3) is a thing of the past. And wouldn't be surprised if the S5 lacked it too. It would be best to use Trigger or something to recognize your car Bluetooth and enforce dock mode. Or some other sort of trigger.

I'm not really asking anything about triggering it.....I'm more interested in verifying that it exists in the Sprint S5 and if so, the functionality of the driving mode itself.
