  1. I always cringe at people who buy those bottom of the barrel $200-300 laptops from Walmart or the like.  Laptops can be so finicky/unreliable long term anyway, but buying one of those 'eLaptop' type of machines is about the equivalent of treating a Yugo a luxury sedan.  Yeah, you may get out cheap for about a year or a little more if you're especially lucky, but particularly folks who buy them for their kids at Christmas, I want to scream at them that if they're gung ho on just throwing away their money, I'm in the garbage disposal business and would be glad to be of service.

  2. There are only so many Urban customers who never travel anywhere.

This right here sums up the situation exactly to my mind.   I wish there were more responsible journalists that would keep pounding on this one point.  For all the positive/praiseworthy things T-mo may well be doing, this one point needs to be driven home repeatedly to give proper context IMO.  If you're standing still in the right metro areas, sure, T-mo may hang the moon, but how many people stand still that long?  If that's their long term strategy/mindset, they targeted the wrong areas to work on their network then....rural areas are where that sort of behavior runs rampant.  My parents alone are testament to that premise.

  3. Voice quality seems fine for me in low signal, but I'd have to qualify by saying that I'm 90% of the time under an NV upgraded tower now at work, and my 'low signal' experience is vastly different now than it was prior to the NV upgrade.  Used to I'd struggle to even keep it charged because of how bad the signal was and how it causes the phone to drain in overdrive trying to search and hang onto a signal.  I can get 2 bars easily now in a building that is notoriously bad for cell signals.   And I should note that this is before 1x800 even has been deployed here yet.

  4. The first account moves to framily and gets a framily number. Which is like an account number.Your framily then goes in and starts a sprint account and provides the framily number, phone number and last name. The "owner" will get notified when some one joins or leaves the framily. He can also see online what numbers are in his framily. At no time is personal or billing details shared. Each account with in the group is that account holders responsibility.Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Awesome, thanks for the response Rocket!

  5. Another question (which may or may not be stupid---I may be missing something obvious) would be on the logistics of setup on these new plans.  Like, do all line/account owners have to be physically present at the same time in order to do this?  Or perhaps on a customer service phone call at the same time?  Or do the new plans come with some kind of unique ID where people can go into a store or call in separate, give them the ID and say 'I want to be added to this plan's ID' or the like?

Can any Sprint employee reading the thread shed any light on the above?

  6. How do the discounts work then? I get 25% off with my sears discount. Would each line get 25% off then and then data is extra($10 for 3gigs or $20 for unlimited)? So 7-10 lines would be $25 and my 25% discount would make each line $18.75 plus $20 for unlimited for a total of $38.75 plus tax?

If I had to guess, any discount would be off of whatever data charge you got extra (if anything) like with the plans introduced last year.

  7. Yeah, staff is already in the midst of discussing S4GRU's policy on Framily.  We might like to set up a Framily thread where members can form groups of 7-10 to get the greatest monthly discount per line.  Expect an official decision relatively soon.

  9. Enlighten us.  What has T-Mobile leadership done?  You know, besides play Santa Claus and act/talk/dress like a 1980s "Miami Vice" party scene extra. AJ

You should be ashamed of yourself AJ, you take that back right this instant...you've simultaneously offended Magenta ass-kissers, Santa Claus and Don Johnson all in one felled swoop. Why, I...I just don't know who you are anymore!!

  10. I'll forgive you this once since you are from TN.

Such a quaint point you're failing to attempt to indirectly make there.  While both comments are certainly made in jest, there's an underlying difference that I'm frankly shocked that you and your supposedly fragile sensitivity apparently don't understand before you madk the attempt.  Raw's comment made no universal reference to women as a whole, but specifically the individual in question. It could just have easily have been a man (Moffat perhaps), and Raw's comment could have instead been to suggest that perhaps Santa should have brought him something to 'better occupy his time with' as well....I'm sure you would have spoken up just as quickly to voice how offended you were if you were a man as well, correct?

Conversely, your cute little comment blatantly and outwardly makes a direct inference on the intelligence of all Tennesseans everywhere, even though again, obviously in jest in both cases (amazing what a sense of humor can do for you by the way).  But somehow I doubt you'll admit to the apples-to-oranges difference between the two.

  11. I don't mind invective but sometimes people cross the line.  I'm a woman and I found that post offensive.

I believe you just said something earlier about an argument being weak when using sexist remarks as a rebuttal;  I'd argue that if you accept that premise as truth, then the same is true when attempting to use gender-based generalizations as well. Whether something crosses a line or not is often entirely subjective to every individual, even when it is assumed otherwise---it is not always a black and white unspoken universal truth for the entire gamut of society as a whole, nor in this case is it such for the entire spectrum of the female gender.   My girlfriend is a woman as well (go figure) and she found the comment quite humorous....probably because *gasp* she took it in the context it was obviously intended.

You have every right to hold the opinion you do certainly, on this or any other topic...but don't be so presumptuous as to assume you're speaking for anyone but yourself, or express otherwise, when you choose to express it/them.

  12. I echo Robert's comments, and would further state that if 3 Mbps is 'poor speed' for anyone then I'd like to know what the heck they're trying to accomplish with their phone such that they'd actually need higher speed connectivity consistently.  You can debate speedtests of 'who is faster' every day till Sunday, but for the vast majority of the population the question ultimately is 'is the service fast enough for what I typically do on an average day for a reasonable cost?'.    And having spent a good deal of time in Shentel areas since I came to S4GRU, I can tell you firsthand that assuming you either live in or travel primarily in Shentel-covered areas, you'd be insane to give up Sprint.

If you have a legitimate need for faster than 3 Mbps speeds, you're an exception, but if you just want faster to show off to others, make sure you go buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari to commute back and forth to work too, its flashier and will get you there faster at a premium cost compared to a Honda certainly.

First one is copy+paste, second is using the link button.

EDIT: and of course it actually works this time.

As someone who works in a technical support position, allow me to say I love this phenomenon.  It happens so frequently and always provides a laugh watching/listening to the other person try and explain it.  Its like watching Mrs. Kravitz on Bewitched all over again.  :tu:

  14. Totally echo MS's post.  I'm proud to say that I've been a part of this site for almost 1 and a quarter years now. The primary reason people gravitate here is that the information/insight/discussion on not just Sprint but the entire wireless industry/technology spectrum the best you'll find anywhere, with a little something for everyone to be able to increase their own knowledge and understanding to something better than it was when they arrived---and that's the best thing about this place for me by the way; even if I weren't a Sprint customer, this would be an awesome knowledge/insight resource even then.

But for the most part the actual community and people here are outstanding as well.  And if you're like me, while it was the information that got you here, its the people/personalities that keep you here, from Robert on down.  Thanks to everyone, and especially the staff/mods/etc that help keep this place running smoothly.

  15. :o  And they do it yet again! For the life of me I can't understand why Saban tried a 57 yard FG with a freshman kicker. The chances of a block being returned for a TD or what happened, the kick coming up short and being returned were just too high. I'm not even a 'Bama fan and I was screaming, "What are you thinking, Nick?" at the TV when they were lining up for the kick. The only play there was to try the Hail Mary. Saban definitely didn't coach his best game today.

The Big Ten championship game now takes on added significance for Ohio State.

As much as I dislike Auburn, the outcome of that game had nothing to do with luck on their side this time.  However outmatched otherwise, they came to play whereas Alabama had way, way too many execution issues, for whatever reason.  And honestly, the long field goal try wasn't the play that bothered me at all even in hindsight.  What ground my gears so much is why they tried running Yeldon to the outside again on that 4th and very short play instead of just letting AJ take charge with the QB sneak. I was screaming at the tv for that before what ended up happening.
