  1. No worries. I've wanted, for a while now, to root my Nexus 4, but just never got around to it. Have had this phone for two months and it's barely been used. But now I think I might go ahead and activate it on T-Mobile's $30 plan to see what the service is like around here. I like the device since it's always up-to-date all the time. I'll will most likely bring it overseas when I go traveling this summer since it's unlocked.
  2. Not sure what your progress is on this, but I do have a (now) rooted 16GB Nexus 4 running 4.2.1. I did what you asked MacinJosh by converting LTE Discovery into a system app and tried running the app like normally. Unfortunately, the phone still won't go into Airplane Mode at all. I'm not sure what other things I could try, but let me know and I'll do my best to help out.

  6. Wish I could figure this VPN thing out. I made all keys and got them all in on the VPN Tunneling page using Tomato Firmware. When I test to see if it works, I get an error message... can't connect. I've tried starting over twice and still get the same results. Any recommendations you could provide? Edit: A bit of an update. I did manage to finally get connected to the VPN Tunnel though my router. The only outstanding issue is that it keeps timing out when I'm connected and browsing the web. I'd still be curious to know what your setup is like and see if I can make some tweaks to my existing settings to keep it from timing out.
  7. I'm in the same boat as digi... I don't want to make a public profile just to leave a review... silly.
  8. Thanks for sharing this. I'm interested in something like this and it's nice they have a free version to use, cause usually I wouldn't spend more than an hour at a hotspot checking emails, etc.
  9. Welcome aboard! This is a very exciting time for us all, we're just as excited! Just so you know, there are sponsor forums for this market where other members have access to the list of towers in the area that are being upgraded and actively mapped out. If you'd like to check it out, check out this page on becoming a Sponsor of this great website.
  10. My concern with the Connection Optimizer is connecting to random, unknown Wi-Fi points. I'm not sure exactly if just connecting to these points can send unencrypted info and someone in the middle can nab that info. I don't even use the free ones at the airport or malls just because I simply don't know. You read all these articles that say don't do it for computers, but not sure if the same rules apply for smartphones?
  11. Ah cool! If you have a program called Sensorly, you can use that to map out the 4G down there where you found it. Sent from my Rooted Galaxy Note II using Forum Runner
  12. Is Connection Optimizer on? [settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Connection Optimizer ] If so, uncheck the box... you may be picking up unsecured Wi-Fi points nearby and it's auto-logging you into them.
