  1. Looks like most manufacturers are done working on ICS for their devices and some have begun to see updates already, especially the non-carrier branded phones. I guess the big hang up now will be the U.S. carriers with the installation of their products and the usual carrier testing. Quote: "We’ve already looked at the lengthy process that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from Gingerbread is - it takes effort both from the phone maker and the carrier. Now, most major phone manufacturers including Asus, Samsung and Sony have finished the testing and certification and are ready to update device to ICS very soon." http://www.phonearena.com/news/Phone-makers-done-tweaking-ready-to-update-to-ICS-very-soon_id28371
  2. In this article, Clearwire's CFO talks about increases in data usage by customers (but no mention of income) and an interesting mention how Sprints (and others) LTE models will compel them to off-load traffic onto Clearwires network sooner rather than later. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/clearwire-usage-our-network-increased-705-year-over-year/2012-03-22
  3. T-Mo is closing a group of call centers to save cash and cut costs since DT is pretty much making them survive on its own. In the local news, the Denver area is losing one, so that's 441 jobs down the drain for our market. 4. Hilarious. I guess it could be case of bad apples since AT&T loss the T-Mo deal and had to pay DT the severance fee. Big Blue probably thought it could recoup it's loss this way and stick it to the FCC and DOJ. 5. The FCC has been busy the last couple of days. Analysts: FCC's rulemaking favors Dish's LTE network plans Quote: "The FCC's draft rules for the terrestrial use of Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) spectrum appear to favor Dish Network's plans to build an LTE Advanced network, according to some analysts. However, they cautioned, the rules are not final, may change before year-end and could result in Dish's spectrum allocations being altered." http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/analysts-fccs-rulemaking-favors-dishs-lte-network-plans/2012-03-22
  6. Apple may grab a patent for the 4.6" screen.
  7. Fared Adib talks with Fiercewirelss of a host of issues. Screen size, Apps and the theory behind Sprint ID. http://www.fiercemobilecontent.com/story/sprints-adib-demise-preloaded-apps-growth-html5-and-more/2012-03-21
  8. It's springtime and you know what that means? Time for iPhone rumors to begin. I though I would start this thread to to keep things in one place. Here's one that may actually be true, but I don't believe the 2nd quarter release date. We'll know things will get serious once a prototype is lost in a bar and there's a fire at a Foxconn plant. Quote: "Apple has decided on the bigger 4.6-inch display for its next iPhone and started placing orders to its suppliers...Its major display suppliers LG Display and Samsung Electronics Co declined to comment." http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/22/us-apple-iphone-idUSBRE82L01G20120322
  9. What's more compelling for Sprint is DISH's network expansion. If Sprint can get a deal to host it it could be lucrative although knowing haw Charlie Ergan deals, Sprint won't get as rich a deal like LS2 proposed.
  10. Looks like things are going in favor for the consumer. The FCC is finally stepping in on the roaming rules for LTE and it looks favorable for DISH. Quote: "The Federal Communications Commission voted 3-0 to ask whether rules are needed to ensure mobile devices can operate on airwaves used by the two largest carriers and other companies like Overland Park-based Sprint Nextel." "The agency also began removing barriers to Dish Network Corp.’s proposed mobile high-speed data network, voting 3-0 to begin recasting rules that reserve the company’s recently acquired airwaves for satellite use." 11. It would appear that Sprint and others are still bullish on Sprint's chance at success. I believe they will still pull NV off without being flushed to the failed venture toilet.
  12. Although interoperability won't affect Sprint in this band, The FCC ruling could open up roaming agreements for LTE. Also if the FCC decides in DISH's favor, this could be an opportunity for Hesse to get a deal similar to LS2's Quote: " If adopted, the new rules would clear the way for Dish to launch its LTE network and enter the 4G market." http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/21/fcc-weighs-dish-4g-network-and-700mhz-interoperability/
  13. Sprint and HTC getting together on 4/4 to announce a recent collaboration. Could be to announce the One X (Jet). http://www.androidcentral.com/
