  1. Tarek Robbiati said during Sprint’s Altice announcement earlier this week that Sprint’s CapEx surge is happening in the “medium term”: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/softbank-s-son-doubling-down-sprint-will-triple-capex-to-6b-medium-term Based on Marcelo’s comments from the Conference, what’s actually going to happen here? Will there be a really quick CapEx ramp up or is this going to happen in the “Medium Term” as the CFO said?
  2. Happening now: https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/928293207133360129 http://newsroom.sprint.com/sprint-ceo-marcelo-claure-to-speak-nov-8-at-wells-fargo-securities-2017-media-telecom-conference.htm Anyone tuning in? There’s a livestream here: https://cc.talkpoint.com/well001/110717a_as/?entity=18_T7GJ11Y I’ll listen to the Webcast replay later!
  3. Has this device received an update to enable WiFi Calling yet? I wonder how well it’s selling.
  4. Here's what FierceWireless has to say about the latest news: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/softbank-s-son-doubling-down-sprint-will-triple-capex-to-6b-medium-term Based on the CFO's statement, it sounds like the CapEx increase will occur in the "medium term". “Let me remind everyone here on the call that our capex for fiscal year 2017 remains unchanged at $3.5 to $4 billion,” Sprint CFO Tarek Robbiati said this morning during a conference call to discuss the company’s new MVNO agreement with cable operator Altice. “Our chairman has guided you this morning to a spend of about $5 to $6 billion per year for the medium term. That’s what we intend to achieve.” So based on that, we're looking at FY2018 for this... which puts us at 6/30/2018, and reported shortly thereafter during the Earnings Call, based on Sprint's Financial Calendar.
  5. Hmmm. That's pretty strange. As far as bank accounts go, I understand your concerns so this is what I've suggested to others who use checking accounts. Get a separate checking account at an unaffiliated bank to where your main holdings are. Do monthly transfers to that account from your main account, either through ACH or by depositing a check, to the unaffiliated bank. Then, have AutoPay configured to work only with the unaffiliated bank and there's no connection to your main holdings. Sprint only sees your unaffiliated bank account, not your main source of holdings. Of course, if you put it on a credit card, you see the charge process on the card on your Sprint bill due date, but this is well before your card's actual due date. This way you can confirm the amount that you'll pay on your credit card well beforehand.
  6. Was your upgrade eligibility not reset properly for some reason? Not sure what else would need to be reconfigured. iOS devices are on the BYOD list. You're aware that not having AutoPay enabled for Unlimited Freedom costs you an extra $5/Month per line, right?
  7. Samsung just released this new ad which takes us back over 10 years of the iPhone and makes a swipe at the "notch": Speaking for myself: I've never see anyone standing in line for a Samsung Phone.... of course, perhaps I don't get out enough.

  9. This is both growth and densification. Sprint can grow and densify on the Altice footprint... which is pretty substantial. Altice currently has more than 4.9 Million customers in 21 states through brands including Optimum and Suddenlink. What this agreement means is that Sprint can readily deploy wireless equipment using Altice's backhaul and its existing right of ways, and Sprint's network can grow and densify as Altice's network grows. Also, because Sprint is paying Altice for usage on the network, Altice has every incentive to increase its footprint to cover more areas. This isn't a replacement for Macro Site growth. As Tarek said on the call, this is in parallel. The Lendlease Towers deal that SoftBank is entering is part of this network growth strategy. It's another prong.
  10. Yeah, I heard/read that too. Definitely an interesting "hot mic" moment. Walter isn't so bad in my opinion. I think Craig Moffett is way worse in terms of being anti-Sprint.
  11. Listening to the Conference Call now. They're talking about deploying several thousand small cells on the current Altice footprint, and as Altice's footprint grows, Sprint will deploy additional small cells on that infrastructure. This is not an exclusive agreement apparently. Sprint will pay Altice for the usage of its network and there are performance benchmarks for both sides. Sprint will not have to go through the traditional permitting process to build out infrastructure on this network. Also, according to Tarek, this deal would have occurred even if the T-Mobile merger would have been announced. Also, we can expect to see various incarnations of "Magic Box" deployed as part of the arrangement with Altice. The Lendlease Towers is also part of Sprint's expansion/densification plans: https://www.wirelessweek.com/news/2017/10/softbank-joint-venture-acquire-8000-us-cell-towers

  13. Just announced: http://newsroom.sprint.com/sprint-altice-usa-announce-strategic-mvno-agreement.htm Sounds good to me!
  14. I’d love to hear more about this as well. As for the 8 and 8 Plus, since the back is now glass instead of aluminum, I wonder how that affects the antenna design vs. the 7.
  15. You can temporarily upgrade your iCloud account and then downgrade it after your backup/restore. Apple gives you 15 days to cancel/downgrade.
  16. I agree. I’ve noticed a real improvement from the 7 to the 8 as far as LTE performance.
  17. Not sure about that. I imagine there's some improvement. The 8/8 Plus/X for Sprint/Verizon have the Qualcomm X16 Modem. The Intel XMM 7480 is used for the AT&T/T-Mobile variants. The 7/7 Plus for Sprint /Verizon have the Qualcomm X12 Modem. The Intel XMM 7360 is used for the AT&T/T-Mobile variants. Of course in both cases, the Qualcomm Modems were gimped to have similar performance to the Intel Modems used in the AT&T/T-Mobile versions. My prediction for next year's Modem hardware, assuming the design has been locked in or will be soon (Apple actually said in an interview that the design for the iPhone X was locked in by November 2016) is that we'll either get the Qualcomm X20 Modem or the Intel XMM 7560, which has support for CDMA.
  18. I've heard that in terms of RF that it performs very similarly to the iPhone 8/8 Plus.
  19. Keeping an eye out for those November Coverage Map enhancements!
  20. Band 41 TD-LTE is supported on both models. Model A1901 lacks support for CDMA. https://www.apple.com/iphone-x/specs/ Model A1865* FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66) TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41) TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A) CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900, 2100 MHz) UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) Model A1901* Model A1901 does not support CDMA networks, such as those used by Verizon and Sprint. FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66) TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41) UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
  21. I believe the AT&T/T-Mobile version of the iPhone X has the Intel Modem. The Sprint/Verizon/Unlocked version has the Qualcomm Modem. What this means is that you can't bring your T-Mobile iPhone X over to a CDMA carrier like Sprint/Verizon.
