  1. Was it already released on the FCC database?

I want to know the RAM in it. It was never mentioned.

Unfortunately that probably means it wasn't changed and is still 1GB. I'd be very happy if someone proved me wrong.

I kind of want this upgrade just for the LTE support.. I'm on everything data family halfway through my contract on my 6 plus. If I switched to iPhone forever and turned in some cheap smartphone (I have plenty) would it be $15 or $5 (loyalty discount)? If it's $5 I'd go for that immediately.

  2. Food for thought... Wouldn't Google want their newest handsets to work with project fi? I would assume then that it would work with Sprints network. Just thinking out loud.

But then it loses the coverage of the Sprint 3G network. Sprint's LTE isn't everywhere unfortunately and losing that dependable 3G connection would definitely make Project Fi lose it's appeal for me.

  3. That would be the wonderful carrier update that is with iOS 8.4. They're aware of it, but they're acting like nothing is wrong. It will probably be fixed when iOS 9 is pushed on iPhone 6s launch day.

The bad carrier bundle only really causes unnecessary drops to 3G and late (or nonexistent) hand-ups to LTE.

  4. The new DAS at BWI goes a long way to improving Sprint service there!!! I was impressed (and surprised when I flew out of there last week) by how much better my experience was there. It would still be a good idea to add another macro or perhaps a few small or pico cells around the airport, but I can no longer call the terminal a black hole.

That explains a lot! Flew out of (and back into) BWI last week and I was also impressed. When did that get installed?

  5. Man, if we get carrier aggregation, wouldn't that almost (finally) guarantee a re-design of Field Test? I mean, they'll have to stick PCC/SCC in there. A man can only dream.

They'll probably just stick it in the current Field Test. When LTE was added for the iPhone 5, they didn't redesign it for the 4" display. Because Field Test is an internal app, redesigning it not on the to-do list at all. But dreaming never hurt anyone ;)

  6. I will do. Working good so far. If I reboot my phone it goes to 20.0? I didn't ask just pushed me to 20.0. I went back in and and pushed 19.1. At least it is something for me to push back with. Do android phones use the same carrier bundles but for android? Would some android phones have a similar carrier issue?

I have that same issue with it automatically going to 20.0. I don't remember there even being a 20.0 carrier bundle. IIRC it went from 19.1 to 20.1.

  7. Apple needs to break all of its apps away from the OS. They should be upgradable from the App Store, and not have to be bundled in an OS upgrade. 8.4.1 just to update Apple Music?

    Sent from my iPhone 6

Bit of a late reply but 8.4.1 was mostly to patch "security issues" including, unfortunately but unsurprisingly, the Taig jailbreak.

  8. Is there any reason then that I don't receive band 25 at this time in east LA?

I was in LA last week and I was actually getting annoyed with the lack of B41. I was stuck in traffic just about every morning and most times I was stuck on B25 which was very overloaded with everyone stuck in traffic trying to use their phones. So enjoy that band 41!

  9. T-Mobiles LTE coverage in LA seems a little overstated because my iphone is spending more time on 4G as on LTE especially along the Interstates.

I'm in LA right now as well and I was thinking the same thing. On I-15 from Vegas to LA Tmo's coverage map shows complete coverage once you enter CA, but that's definitely not the case. For much of the time I didn't even have EDGE. They were showing LTE on the coverage map. To be fair Sprint's map wasn't accurate either but they were showing 3G instead of LTE.

  10. Hi.

Please put quotes around your path to executable when there are spaces.

    "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing
Also I just noticed- it might be a backslash. Someone try this and see if it works?

  11. Pretty sure I lost my Apple ID today. Downgraded to 8.4 to try jailbreak and see what hacks they had out nowadays and when I erased my phone to start over clean my phone stopped receiving the verification texts I'm supposed to get. After me being an idiot and trying to create my own verification texts I now locked myself our of my account. Woot! The failed sign in page says it'll be unlocked in 8 hours but from what I've read online it never unlocks and unless you have access to a trusted device and your password you're screwed. Since my phone no longer appears to be a trusted device I'm pretty much SOL.

If you have 2 step authorization on your phone make sure you know your recovery key! If you don't go reset it now!

Just call Apple Support. If you can prove that you own the account they'll reset it for you themselves. This used to be a lot easier before the whole iCloud hacking thing. But since this is legitimately your account they'll probably reset it for you after some questioning.

  12. So I just thought I'd mention that while at a bar in Ocean City MD, Signal Check told me that I was connected to B41 Sprint LTE 2500, and the data was completely unable. I'm not talking about slow speeds, I'm talking about completely unusable data. Tapatalk wouldn't work, an email I sent wouldn't go through, and a text I sent wouldn't go through.

I actually had to manually switch my Nexus 6 to 3G only. I can see why some people get pissed off at Sprint. If I didn't know how to manually switch my phone to 3G,I'd be pissed off that my data wouldn't work.

UPDATE...I took a shot at putting my phone back to LTE mode. It reconnected to B41 Sprint LTE 2500, and for now, it seems to be working. The only difference is that there seem to be a few less people in the bar now, so that may be the difference.

I highly doubt B41 was congested to the point of having no data at all. Sounds like the cell site might've just had a temporary issue or your signal was just extremely weak.

  13. Ocean City has enough people to warrant a COW...at least until they can upgrade those towers. No clue what the issue is. Probably the city government.

It's not just Sprint with issues there. Earlier this year I was there with a couple friends that had AT&T, they had no service throughout our hotel while I had a decent 3G signal. Now I wouldn't call it a good 3G signal because it wasn't going over 0.3Mbps, but at least it was there.

Also... CA in Baltimore!?? Has anyone actually confirmed this?

  14. I'm stuck! Remember in iOS 9 Beta 1 where Apple gave us that feature to switch the control of the mute switch like on the iPad? Well they took it away, it's been gone for the last 3 betas and unfortunately when I upgraded to beta 2 I had the switch set to change the orientation. Now I can't mute my phone [emoji29]. Idk what to do. You guys think apple will bring the feature back? I mean I don't think there was any reason for them to get rid of it in the first place.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think that feature was supposed to be iPad only, it was in iOS 8 and below. You might have to restore to change it back. You could probably modify a backup to change the setting and then restore to that backup but that might be a little difficult.

  15. Got Apple to replace my phone for a bad battery even though it tested negative for any battery issues. When he was trying to swap the phones, I had to enter my phone number and account PIN into iTunes on his laptop and I accidentally clicked "Skip" instead of "Submit", which forced him to have to call Sprint. I apologized a bunch of times of course, to which he replied "Don't worry about it, at least it's not T-Mobile customer support. I don't think I could deal with them twice in one day."

  16. It took like a day for it to process. I was driving to Denver from KC, so driving on I-70 managed to rack up about 260MB in roaming (didn't even think about it, my brother was streaming music). The next day I got the alert that I was close to the cap. Then on the trip back to KC, I hit the cap. Didn't get a text alert until I got to KC, but it shut me off somewhere in western KS. So it's no immediate. If you use all 300MB in one day, you might not get an alert.

I used it over two and a half days. I arrived Sunday afternoon, by Tuesday night I was cut off and couldn't load anything. On Wednesday morning I tried again and got the landing page.

  17. Gotcha. I'm on an old plan and went over once at the end of last year while traveling; I got e-mail notification after I went over and they shut me off, but I never got any texts.

I have lousy integrity when it comes to abbreviations/acronyms. I prefer my AM's and PM's to be lowercase too.. ;)

    -Mike

I'm also on an old plan and didn't receive any text messages. I really would've appreciated a couple texts to tell me to slow down.

But to be honest it got me off my phone and allowed me to do what I was down in Kentucky to do, which was help a (very sweet) low income family make their home better. So it was a blessing in disguise. ;)

  18. As I just noted in the Northern New England thread, this is huge. I was in Central NH for the 4th of July and it was the typical scattered 1X coverage I've been used to. There is no native Sprint service off I-93. This past weekend I was there again, and spent a good amount of time trying to figure out how/why I had so much EV-DO coverage. USCC has an excellent footprint around Lake Winnipesaukee, where Sprint (surprisingly) has none at all. This is a very noticeable difference. I'd almost rather they keep LTE roaming disabled, because the 300mb would be gone much quicker..

    -Mike

If they keep the 300mb limit when they turn on LTE roaming, it'll be useless to me. I burned through the 300mb in two days and that was crappy Appalachian Wireless 3G. Never got above 1Mbps.

Question- when did the 300MB limit become a hard cap?

  19. Also just returned from my trip to Kentucky. 3G roaming was slow but usable- i hit my 300MB limit after only 2 days of being in the area. I didn't know the 300MB limit was a hard cap, I would've been much more conservative in my usage had I known that. Talk and text still worked afterwards so it wasn't a big deal.
