  1. I ended up ordering it from Sprint.com. It says I need some 'validation', so I'll be fixing that now. I went to a WalMart (they had some), but I couldn't get one because of my Everything Plus Referral Program Plan. The Sprint Store or the site were my only options. Store was sold out. So... it should be arriving in up to 3 weeks!

  2. Sprint could make this work with a sleeve that gives an always on wifi connection for the iPhone 5 so we can have our EVDO and LTE while we jabber on the phone to people, included free for every iPhone 5 purchaser. If they did that, they could really steal the spotlight from both at&t and Verizon.

    Battery Life. Enough said.

  3.

You have the code to push the prl to nv?

It might get trickier with LTE depending on if it is a split prl or if it is like the evo where it builds the prl itself based on two files.

Sent from my C64 w/Epyx FastLoad cartridge

It would be simple enough on the 4 or 4S... Can't be sure about the 5 until I get it on Friday and it gets jailbroken!

  4. I'm planning on making this app once the iPhone 5 is jailbroken. It wouldn't be too hard- just make a simple Obj-C GUI and make two buttons. One button for Verizon, other for sprint. After it has replaced the necessary files (and downloading the prl from a free hosting site), it will prompt you to reboot. The button scripts can be easily accomplished with bash, so my only problem is the Obj-C.

    That was really off-topic.

  5. I was on vacation in Panama City Florida for a week and the days it rained, I used my phone. I was roaming on Verizon and hit 800 mbs. Didn't hear anything from Sprint. But I did have 2gb of sprint usage that same month.

It's a hit or miss. I am looking at houses in a neighborhood right now and sprint has no signal so I loaded up a Verizon prl for now. When I get home, I'll reload the Sprint one. :-P

I want to make a little jailbreak app that simply downloads either a verizon or sprint prl and changes the required files at the touch of a button.

  6. Hey guys, new to S4GRU but have been following the site for a while now!

I purchased an iPhone4s last year and am relatively happy with the device. What I am not happy about is Sprint's 3g speeds in my area (Melbourne & Orlando FL).

I recently read a few reviews on forcing the iPhone4S to a Verizon PRL to get 1.5-2.5Mbps rather than my 0.1Mbps. Has any one tried this with success?

Also, I understand forcing my PRL and roaming could cause my contract to be terminated. Has any one experienced good 3g speeds with the new NV and can you post pictures?

If the NV 3g speeds will be more consistent and can get me above 1.0Mbps, I won't even think about forcing a PRL. I am just to the point where I struggle to stream Pandora and don't even think about loading YouTube videos.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

The Verizon PRL works, but if you go over 300MBs, or your usage on Verizon is more then your Sprint usage, then they will notify you.

  7. Verizon's better, but more expensive and not unlimited. If you're fine with that, then by all means, go for it.

Personally, I prefer Sprint, they're good enough for what I do (Pandora streaming in the car), and emails/text. They're also very good when it comes to reception. I just think once LTE hits the area, it's going to be awesome. Not to mention that LTE 800mhz frequency will be released soon after 1900 launches. It's just going to take time and 1900 is the same coverage in terms of distance and building penetration as the 3G. No matter what, 4G LTE 1900mhz is much better than WiMax.

I would stay away from AT&T. I've heard nothing good from them and they do, for a fact, have the worst CS of any carrier.

Don't go to AT&T. I have them and will be canceling the second my contract ends (luckily for me, that's next week). The customer service has been fine. No wait times, (usually) nice reps, they could always solve the problem. But for reception, building penetration, holding a call, and sometimes even getting a data connection? No. I'm going to sprint on the 21st.

  8. After updating a custom rom on my phone (STOCK WITH GOODIES 2.02

SENSE 4.1) I was finally able to get a LTE connection as the updated rom contains the radio update.

    The fastest result I got:

    201054_10100411416240742_449719572_o.jpg

2nd highest was around 18mb down

    Average was around 7mb down

I still believe there is an issue with my radio as I had to keep switching it back & forth from CDMA to LTE in which it would start on LTE and then jump back to 3G. Or the signal is just weak where I was at. I was located off 175 & Rt 1 by Jessup for most of the test and just got on 32 off I-95 when i got the high speed above.

I knew there was definitely an issue with my radio before i updated because I was at Arundel Mills Mall on Sunday and got no LTE connection at all when many others are said they definitely do get a connection in that area.

In regards to crappy 3G speeds

It has been beyond horrific in my area. I can barely load up wepbapes or upload photos to facebook most of the time. if it wasen;t for wifi my phone would be damn near useless most of the time. Its definitely the network because i esperienced the same thing with the EVO 3D in my area but had a strong WiMax 4G signal. Thats what sucks the most abotu this. There is a strong WiMax 4G signal in my area but no LTE yet. And I live in the prime location in Columbia MD by the Mall, Lakefront and Merriweather Post Pavilion

About that speed- you were right next to a tower. But if those are the speeds right next to a tower, then I'm more then impressed- my house has a tower directly behind it!

The iPhone likely hung on to a signal from a different site with its superior antenna. So I'm pretty sure that the Androids were connected to a NV site and the iPhone was connected to a legacy site. Happens all the time, even with Android devices. I've seen iPhones over 2Mbps when connected to a solid NV site. There is nothing wrong with the iPhone.

I know, I'm typing this from a 3GS! I love the iPhone, but it was both of the 4ses in the store. On top of that, my friend's sprint iPhone 4s is much slower then my dads S3 (on Sprint.)
