  1. Sometimes it happens because of the sequence in which the connection status is being reported to the app. I have tried to do what I can to minimize it, but it still happens sometimes. Some devices are "worse" than others, and sometimes playing with your "hide duplicate 1X icon" settings improves it. Each device has its own quirks; this is one of those areas where it's hard to make adjustments because what fixes it on one device might completely break it on another. It bugs me too!

Oh Im not bugged by it.  I was just letting you know that it is happening on the Nexus 6.  It happens quite a bit.  I do have the hide duplicate 1x icon checked.

  2. I've had conflicting reports from users if it works when you are rooted or not.. it sounds like it will not work even if you are rooted. The messages indicate a connection reset, but nothing actually happens to the connection.

Glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing your experience on the N6. I didn't anticipate major issues (other than the Reset problem), but with a brand new OS, you never know.

Oh I'm working on an update, don't worry! Other priorities keep getting in the way of finishing it.. just when I think my schedule is going to open up a bit, something else comes along. Don't mistake a lack of updates for lack of progress or interest on my part! ;)

There shouldn't have been any issues with the Reset feature on any rooted devices (ART or dalvik) except for those running Lollipop. Still trying to figure a way around that.

    Thanks Mike!

By the way I have noticed something.  For whatever reason when I drop down to 3G on the signal check app it will show the LTE signal and 1X info at the same time for about 2 to 3 seconds.  Is this normal or just a bug?

  3. So something I noticed today. My Nexus 6 is performing much better on 3G than the GS5 did. Speeds are much better. I know its nothing compared to LTE. But for a congested area not to bad. Also note that I am on 1x800. On 1x800 on the GS5 I have never gotten any better than .4 down and .3 up.

Not sure if its the phone performing better or what but my once useless 3g actually is now somewhat more usable. Lol.

Well since apparently I cannot upload pics to here my speeds were 1.04 down and .79 up from the speedtest app.

  4. Okay so Day 9 on this test. And I played with the SIM card trying it in another device which did not work. However that threw off the programming on my device and made it not work, so lesson to be learned if you do this project, do not ever take the SIM out to put in something else as it will fail and will also make your gateway fail as well. All is well now, had to swap, reprogram device, swap back to mifi keeping the SIM # the same as the gateway and magic. :) Back on!

Testing with a 24x16 Parabolic Grid - 60ft of RG-6 Dual Shield, 2 Barrel Adapters in the line.

Band 25 -77 - 13D-8U (Highest I have ever seen on Band 25 in this area)

    Band 26 -81 - 18D-10U

    Band 41 -87 - 31D-14U

    More info just PM me.

Spectacular! I wonder if a parabolic may work with a network extender? I have the Wilson sleek 4g and am just trying to find other ways to employ it.

  5. Hi: Just wanted to add my $.02. I just dropped CenturyLink and I'm exclusively on the Zing hotspot. Mind you, I have a recently upgraded tower across the street. I've added a TP-Link AP in client mode to bridge the WiFi to my PC, (WMC) Xbox extender and Samsung TV, and I couldn't be happier. It's a company provided device, and fortunately I'm in a pool of unlimited data devices. I'm half way through the billing period and I'm at 33GB so far.

They have unlimited data plans for these????

  6. Hey anybody have any stats on Battery life yet?  I am testing mine out today to see how long I get with normal usuage.  I took it off the charger at 8am and its now 1145am and my battery is at 62%.

My usage thus far is the Google music app (no streaming, all music was downloaded yesturday)

    Some browsing

    Screen brightness half bright

    Some facebook

about 2 hours of sitting on 3G signal

    Some texting

    2 (1 minute phone calls)

Thats about all I have done.  I am really wanting to try out this charing thing that they speak of where i plug it in for 15 minutes and i get another 6 hours.  Wonder if thats just 6 hours of standby time or what.

Anywho if anyone else has any of their own battery stats please post them so we can see how to get the best battery life out of this phone.

    Kevin

  7. Wow, $269ish. You are so lucky to get taxed for the $249.99 price. Here in California we get taxed on the full $648 price that is shown on sprint's website even when it says upgrade price of $249.99.

Oh yeah totally forgot about the way california does business on cell phones.  I remember reading an article about that a few years ago..  Yes you are correct tax rate is much less out here than it is on the west coast.

  8. After reading all this, I am assured that when I shed my n5 I will ask an employee to assault me with an n6. That seems to be the way to get a functioning one.

Thanks for being the tester on that one darick. NevAr furget 11/21, the day service died. Sheesh what a hardcore experience to get a 700 odd dollar working product.

Well I paid 269ish for it with the 2 year contract.  So not a 700 dollar device, well at least it didnt cost me 700 right now.  And I wouldn't call it assault, I would call it more of a person who shouldn't be working in the customer service field...  All I wanted was a working Nexus 6, and I also wanted the box that goes with it.  She wanted the store to keep my new ones box, and was going to send me home with the old box and new phone.  Which I suppose isn't that big of a deal, but It was just the principle of it.  I wanted the dang box to.  lol.

  9. I installed the newest one from the thread in the general forum and it wouldn't populate with data.

Also that dialer code does nothing for me, but I am able to access the radio info screen from SCP if that's what it leads to.

yeah same here for the sprint zone app.  So at the very bottom is OEM/Settings greyed out on yours as well?

  10. As stlman said, that appears to be B25. Like I mentioned, the app does not explicitly display that at the moment -- some devices cannot distinguish bands, so I don't want them seeing B25 if it might not be correct. It's not a priority at the moment but this may change in the future; I'm hesitant until more devices properly report PLMN (or all the Clear B41 sites become Sprint sites).

    -Mike

Well the Nexus 6 signal check is working great on.   My only gripe is not towards yourself or Signal check, its towards not being able to reset the connection.  due to no root available yet.  But I have noticed that neighboring cells is working awesomely!  I was down in Jacksonville, FL last night, had 13 neighboring cells at once!  Was a very very open area.  Also I am sure you are aware, but the Nexus 6 is reporting Clear B41 as LTE 2500, unlike the S5 which couldn't distinguish between B25 and Clear listing them both as LTE.  So I am happy about that, that it is displaying it as LTE 2500 on both Clear B41 and Sprint B41.

So are we going to get a Christmas Gift of an updated signal check?  lol.  Just kidding you dont have to do that.  Thanks for all the hard work Mike!  Such a great app.  I played around with all the display models in the sprint store and downloaded the lite version just for S & Gs to see how well they were performing signal wise.

Anywho if you need something tested on the Nexus 6 let me know I am more than willing to help in any way i can.

  11. Hey guys is the Sprint Zone app not compatible with the Nexus 6?  I noticed the N6 is lacking the app.  I liked the new interface they made for it and all that, but it seems its not on the phone.   Oh well the phone is awesome otherwise!

Plus i am loving how it doesn't slow down when multitasking.

Only gripe I have is going to be the Battery not being removable/replaceable as well as the non upgradeable memory.  Kinda wish that Sprint would have gone with the 64GB version.  Oh well guess there is always cloud storage for that.

Oh there is one more thing I noticed.  If i set the phone down on say the floor or my lap, I am losing LTE and dropping down to 3G.  But otherwise handoff isn't to bad.

  12. Ok, so far 3 days with this device.

I held it and played with it in Best Buy last month, which made me want it. But using it as a daily driver for the last two days is a totally difference experience. I liked it back then and and I am in love with it now. Yes, it's expensive and yes, it's a bit wider than my Note 4 (which I still love too). But it is still less wider than my Mega and (i assume the Nexus 6 which I still haven't taken out of the UPS box). Granted the Note Edge is not for everyone, be it size, Touchwiz, the  curved edge, etc.

Much like the Note 4, I had to re-provision the device since it refused to get a signal at all. Actually before that I couldn't even sign on to Google since I swapped my Mega for it and I have that darn 2 step verification and it kept sending the code to the device I just swapped from. lol

The Edge seems as fluid as my Note 4, feels better in the hand due to the curve in both naked (no cover) and with the cover. Speaking of cover, I had to go to the death star to get a cover for it. Since it's an official OEM Edge cover, it didn't have the AT&T branding thankfully.

I received it Wed and after the provisioning, it received my home site signals very well. Thursday at work, it couldn't grab on to the signal, but neither did my Note 4. They both kept dropping in and out of LTE. By the end of the day, seems everything was fine and both stayed on LTE.

I took both Notes into Manhattan today (Friday) and both grabbed onto the signal fine. Except when I was in the Museum (i put them both on wi-fi at that point). In Wi-fi it seems the Note Edge found the signal faster than the Note 4.

Back home I took a screen shot tonight of both the Note and Edge after installing SignalCheck Pro. .

Since the Sprint Note Edge does not have an official Root process yet and I refuse to use the T-Mobile one that some are saying works, The app doesn't reset on the Edge since it needs root, but so far I haven't had a problem with the Edge getting a signal.

Then again, I don't have the technical know how or apps/devices that can do a thorough diagnostic for comparison purposes.

Battery life is a totally different issue. It does seem to drain faster than the Note 4. But since I am always plugging in my devices (in car, work, home, etc) I am rarely in a situation that I am running out of juice. I may do a battery drain test tomorrow to confirm my suspicions.

Although I am a right handed, I hold my devices for the most part with my left hand. But for the Note Edge it feels great in either hand. using my right hand and I can flip through the edge panels. using my left hand i can enable the Rotate 180 degree feature and flip the device upside down.

Settings for the most part are the same, the only differences are as follows...

1-In the Device section, there is now a Edge Screen selection.

2-In the System section, under Accessories, the Note 4 has a S View Cover sub-section and the Edge has a Flip Wallet section.

3-In the drop down Notification panel settings selection, there are quite a few buttons not available on the Note Edge for some reason.

First part (upper section) is the same buttons.

But that is is for the Note Edge, The Note 4 has more buttons.

Now I have to wait for Root to determine if that is due to an app I installed on the Note 4 like Wanam exposed or not.

Well that's it for now. I'll report something else if I notice anything different.

    TS out

Does Download Booster actually work on the Sprint Note Edge????  I was wondering if they have incorporated it back into the phone or not.  I see it in your picture as one of the icons.  So I just wonder if it works or not.

  13. Still can't find the N6 in any stores here. They all said that they haven't received any stock at all and don't know when they will. Bummer.

Might just order online this weekend and hope I luck out and get it before thanksgiving.

Are you going to a corporate store, or one thats operated by someone else?  Because the corporate stores here in Jacksonville area had them in stock.

  14. I'd demand a refund. Then reorder it right as soon as you get your money back. If you want to skip the hassle. That's if they have stock.

Well funny story there...  I did goto a store (45-60 minutes of driving away) because it was the closest to me.  So I get to the store, go back to the repair techs, they say they will help me out, well then they direct me to the front lady to sign in.  So I sign in, not realizing how much of a line there was in front of me.  So then I go and play around on some phones, and 30 minutes passes, so then i go check with the lady, she says well you are number blah, and you have about 38-60 minutes till they will be with you.  So then finally i get called up, and i explain whats going on.  They say we need our tech to diagnose your phone.  I ask how long, he says about an hour to 1 hr 15.  So I say ok, and then he prints off the slip that i had to sign to give them consent to look at the phone, well on the slip it says this repair will cost you 75 bucks.  I ask about it.  He said since you had no insurance on the phone it says that, but since its in the 14 days you dont have to worry about that.  But I persistently ask them to please print me something out that says that because I will not sign the thing that say I owe them 75 bucks without having something that says that fee is null and void.  Well the best the guy could do is one line and initial it since the manager apparently had gone home.  So then I give them the phone, go kill an hour, come back and am told that the phone needs to be swapped out.  I then say alright lets do that and get it over with.  Well then a newer employee starts the process.  Well 15 minutes pass, and she has no idea what to do.  So then she goes and gets a coworker (a 30 something african american woman) with a huge attitude problem.  So she starts working on getting the phones swapped out.  So then she says we are going to keep the box for your new phone and you can take the old box home with you.  I am like well I dont want the old box, as the boxes have the numbers that go with the phones, and she is like well our store requires us to keep the new box but you can have the old one.  I am like well please show me where that is at?  and she is clueless and says well we just do it.  So I am telling her I want the new box, since it goes with my new phone.  She then gets all pissed off and throws the phone at me, luckily I caught it.  She literally threw the phone at me!  I wasn't very happy with this.  She ran out yelling and being all angry, and one of the other employees came over.  I tested out the phone to see if it was activated, and i couldn't get it to call out.  So long story short another 45 minutes went by before the phone was actually able to make calls and was fully activated and that employee got reported for literally throwing the phone at me.

So of note I did get a chance to finally test out the capabilities of the Nexus 6 after that when i left.  I will say this one is running a little better than the defective one.  I have noticed that for whatever reason on both of the devices they both loved to latch onto Band 26 and hold on to it for dear life.

Signal on the phone is about 2dbm better than the GS5 on Band 25, about 3 to 5dbm better on B26, a bit worse on Sprint B41 (1 to 5dbm less than the GS5 got on Sprint B41, but about 5dbm better on Clear B41.  I did do some speed tests on the Sprint B41 I found in Jacksonville, and speeds were 41 down and about 14.5 up.

I am having a bit of an issue with getting back onto LTE after dropping down to 3G.  Not sure if it was just the area or if there possibly is an issue there.

I do enjoy how fast the phone is at virtually everything, and just found out that it flip flops itself, so if you are a lefty it can be made into a lefty phone, or a righty.  So that is pretty neat.  The battery charge is pretty nifty getting to full.  Pretty quick with the N6 charger.

Bluetooth performance is quite a bit better, am able to nearly instantly connect to my Uconnect in my car, as well as my Samsung sound bar in my home.

Video playback is also very good!

    Wifi works excellently!

Signalcheck has no issues that i have noticed, and I did notice that even though signal was a bit less on some LTE, there were more neighboring cells that showed up!  Also one more thing with signal.  The Nexus 6 does not like to connect to Clear B41, My galaxy S5 was connecting back and forth between Clear B41 and Band 26 while the N6 was staying connect to B25/26.

The Google Play Store loads much much quicker now compared to on Android 4.4.x

I do like that they incorporated a flashlight app into the OS, not sure if the N5 had one built in, because I have been a Samsung person for a bit.  But the dual LED's are pretty nice.  Camera performance isn't bad.  I do not know if i like the camera app that Google uses, but I guess It will take time to get use to.

I nearly did get the Note Edge...  If it were not such a pain in the butt to get a different phone vice a 1 for 1 swap i probably would of walked out with the Note Edge.  I played around with all the phones in their store while there waiting.  The Note edge did perform a bit better on signal strength.  It was about 4Dbm better on Band 25 than the Nexus 6 was that they had on display.  I do not know how it performs on B26/B41 as those were not avail in the store.

One thing I did notice on the Note edge was the ability to select band priority.  Is this going to be on the GS5 when Android 5 comes out?  Is there a way on the Nexus 6 to adjust Band priority?  Would be neat if I could prioritize B41 over B25/26.

Anywho hope everyone has a great night and just keep an eye out for the screen issue.

  15. Oh yeah definitely am. But ive been at the sprint store for 2 hours, and they are taking another hour to diagnose it...

I would try exchanging it for another Nexus 6. Every handset has manufacturer defects right out of the box, you happened to be one of the unlucky ones.

  16. So what do you guys think?  think i should just cut my losses and return it get my money back?   Think i should return it and get a different nexus 6?   Or do you think i should return it and try a different phone (I.E. the Note Edge?)

Those are my options, as I am having to drive 45 minutes to the nearest sprint corp. store to get them to take a look at the "paperweight" that one called the the Nexus 6....

  17. sounds like a defect, i would have it swapped out

Yeah thats what i figured, found a page on the web about it.  There apparently are several others who have gotten the N6 and have had the screen do the same thing...  So now i am debating on if i want to just return it and cut my losses, or wait for another one.  Choices Choices...

  18. Hey guys so I am wondering if any of you have had an issue with the screen on your Nexus 6?  I got it at 4pm on the 21st.  and it was working fine.  Then went out fully charged for the night.  Was on my way home at 3am, and suddenly the screen goes black.  I think it may have been just a time out, but now the screen will not turn on, and its flickering a little.  I can hear the volume go up and down when i push that button, but thats about it.
