  1. Hey guys so today i ventured to an LTE site I had yet to venture to due to its location and saw the paperwork that was at that site attached to the fence in a plastic ziplock baggie.  So i noticed on the front page it said "SPRINT NETWORK VISION MMBS LAUNCH"  so what exactly is MMBS?  I noticed that this site was only a B25 site with sub par speeds, and of note this site was also in the middle of nowhere, very minimal amount of people there in that area.  The site ID is SE54XC084 if anyone was interested.  And at the site there were 2 cabinets, with 3 more base mount slots for 3 more cabinets if that helps.  I noticed the last person who had been there was the inspector for some work they had done previously.  The date was 7/23/2014.  so very recent.  Ill upload a picture of something else I am curious about in a little bit that i noticed at the site.  Thanks in advance.

  2. Well never mind. Guess all it needs is the MEID as well. Once that's "locked" to Sprint you're good. But the N5 does need the SIM to initially set up the phone.

I think they all need the sim installed in order to do the initial setup?  Or at least they always put the sim card in first before they do anything else with the phone when I have had all of mine activated at the store.  Well thats my experiences at least.

  3. Sim cards are for LTE, they authenticate it so you can connect. Try taking out the sim, you'll get 3g and 1x data.

hmm.  Well I can say that in the past i got curious and took my sim card out of the iPhone 5 I had just for S&G's because i was curious as to why there was a sim card slot in the first place, and it still connected to the network?  Also I was not implying that he try and trick the network into thinking that his IPad was his IPhone and have unlimited data on the IPad.   The only network that this is really possible on like i said is TMobile.  I know that AT&T will swap you over to the appropriate plan the second you switch the sim card to the tablet.  I have witnessed that on a buddies IPAD.  But again I am not encouraging anyone to swap out sim cards for the purpose of avoiding the data caps and such.

  4. If the signal is coming from where I think it is, it's two blocks away. So apparently B41 from this tower and pretty much all of the ones in my neighborhood are not optimized yet and still possibly running old WiMax backhaul.

I would recommend becoming a sponsor and then you get access to all the maps and really cool stuff :)  then you can see exactly whats going on, well at least see a bit more of whats going on.  There are all sorts of maps you can spend hours prying around on once you are a sponsor/premier sponsor.  Just a suggestion.

Oh and by the way if you buy an app called SignalCheck Pro it will pretty much tell you where your towers are located, well 3G towers at least...  Not quite sure how the LTE end of it works, but it allows you to put notes on there and such so you could either walk around/drive around figure it out which tower it is.  Again just some suggestions that may help.

  5. Also as far as i know sprint sim cards dont do anything really, they are just there to fill the void and hold the spot for international carriers.  But maybe you should try doing a little google research if you want to know more about sim card swapping.   Now if it were a T-Mobile version and you were swapping out a T-Mobile sim from a T-mobile unlimited to a T-Mobile iPad it would work.  Someone tested this on another forum.  But kojitsari is right it is a banned topic...

  6. well its up to you since its your phone.  lol.  I would just disable 41 until they get it up to speed.  on a clear 41 near me I get great speeds when I'm within 1 mile of the tower (clear line of sight).  But like i said when i drift away and its not clear line of sight then it slows down drastically.  The max i got on a clear b41 was 65 down and about 14.53 up.  give or take.  So hopefully this b41 tower i discovered recently becomes up and ruining in the near future :)  then i shall test that theory.

  7. I have horrible experience with using 1x only mode on my galaxy s5...  but maybe thats because there are no 1x800 sites up here yet, well less than i have fingers at least in washington.  lol. could be like robert said and voice is taking priority for my case here in washington.  But who knows.  If it works for you all the power to you!

  8. Your airlink is weak. -118dBm is not going to net you much better speeds. Don't get me wrong, I've seen 20+Mbps with this signal on Clear B41, but it is rare.

Clear pings aren't generally as fast as Sprint B25/26, but ping seems to take a big hit in Clear B41 with fringe signals, much more than Sprint B25/26.

I can definitely attest to this.  When I was -85 to -110 i got between 55 (-85) to worst 22 (-110) but when i got less than that my speeds were even worse, down to at worst 5 down and 1.5 up, best i got when i was around -119 on clear b41 was about 10 down and 2.5 up.  give or take a bit.  That was my issue with B41 once i got that far away from the signal.

  9. so perhaps a stupid question, but as i seen from the map samsung is the northwest antennas, but i have seen a few that look like these ericson models?  Do other carriers have deals with ericson up here in the northwest?  or do they tend to stay in the same territory for each carrier?  like does verizon use samsung/ericson/altel lucent as well?  or do they have their own manufacturer?

  10. Buy an SLR with video output to a digital monitor.

So I did actually go out and buy the wifi edition of the camera.  And i must say I'm quite impressed.  I went around and checked out the local cell towers that I could not get a good visual on with my binoculars or my cell phone (x4 zoom).  I am very impressed by the 21x zoom!  took some very detailed pictures. I could nearly read the writing on the bottom of the LTE band 25 antennas.  I can't make it out, but i could nearly read it.  so i am very happy about that.  and its quite fast as well :)

  11. Greetings everyone.  I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these 2 devices?  I know that they are not a sprint device.  But they do have the ability to connect to mobile.  Anyone have any pros and cons behind them?  Any help would be appreciated.  I like the idea of a x21 zoom with a 16 mp camera and a 4.8 inch touchscreen that is android os.  Thanks in advance.

  12. You presume wrong. For $25 dollars @ 7+ Framily members, you get 1GB of data. Add $10 dollars you get 3GB's at $15 per GB in overages. $20 dollars Unlimited Data. Not throttling, no slowdowns. Well, unless you're a data hog on one particular cell tower, but once you leave that select tower, to another tower, you're speeds will go back to normal. The throttle doesn't follow you where ever you go.

Sprint, if a bit more expensive, offers you the whole enchilada. With comparable coverage to AT&T.

NOW I WANT AN ENCHILADA! LOL.

  13. So I completely reset my network setting at 3pm today took a nap then woke up at (5AM!!!) so thinking I was late for work I then jump outta bed only to realize it was much lighter than 5am should be. So then I look at the kitchen clock sure enough its only 7pm. So I then check the web only to discover a DNS error... I finally resolved the problem by calling sprint. They had me do a profile update and also turn phone off and on. So then I asked about LTE status while I was waiting the guy in tech support said according to his system upgrades are done and so was optimization. So I laugh and ask him to look at other systems like glance and the others they generally look at

He said GLANCE is not used anymore. Is this true?
