  1. I was stupid, and enabled band 12 again. Phone battery died, when i turned it on. the Sim issue started again. In the process of reflashing everything. At least now I can upgrade to the E build LOL.

For future info i have found that all you need to reflash is the radio if this issue continues to occur.  and as you should know thats a pretty quick process.  I have been playing around a bit and it wasnt just Band 12 enabling that caused the issue for me.  I played with band priorities and same thing happened.  So maybe its linked to that.  Sounds like you reflashed everything?  My belief is just that the radio needs to be reset if it happens.  Maybe I am way wrong.  But reflashing the Radio worked like a charm.

  2. With the couple of times I have been over there I have rented a SoftBank SIM card. It's coverage is on par with say Verizon or AT&T here in the states. Probably even more dense network and works well even on a moving 200MPH train. It was unlimited but they do reserve to manage the network if necessary a.k.a. throttle. I didn't experience it though.

It's pretty much LTE just about anywhere even deep inside buildings. I had very good service on my iPhone 6 Plus.  Considering most of their spectrum is band 41 it's pretty remarkable how robust of a network they built with band 41.

Sprint does offer a $5/month add on which includes unlimited voice/text/data. It's newish, not really advertised, and supposedly for corporate liable lines but international care can likely add it for you: they did add it recently to my personal account.

can you elaborate on this "sprint offering $5/month add on"?

  3. Thanks for the heads up. What device(s) was this on? Were they connected to LTE, or another connection type? I've tested it on my Nexus 5 with T-Mobile and it seems to work fine, and I also have some AT&T beta users that haven't reported any issues.

Mike this same thing is happening on my Nexus 6 on Sprint.  The only way I get signal to show up at the top is to open up the app then it appears (otherwise I just have dashes up there).  So its not just other carriers.

  4. Come to think of it, I enabled band 12 too. Maybe the radio initialization in 47D doesn't like that...

could be.  Guess we will have to rely on google to find an answer.  Maybe that's why B12 was disabled.  I am afraid to let my phone die now..  Good thing most stuff gets backed up to the internet.  Still a pain in the butt to have to redownload everything though...

  5. I did play with LTE band priorities but it's not that because I've had no problems since I did. Im pretty much definite it was TWRP app SD card writable patch that's doing it to me. Right when it reboots the Sim card doesn't read. So I just wipe and unroot put sprint Sim back in and everything is back to normal. Don't know why I was even playing with the patch because it's for external SD card which we don't have. Hopefully you get yours worked out.

I had no mods on my phone.  I side loaded the 5.1 update and it worked for a bit, then all the sudden the sim card issue arose.  I tried doing an erase and factory restore after but the Google dots continued to fly around for hours.  So I just redid the install from my computer.

  6. My Nexus 6 started doing the same thing last night after updating to 5.1 a couple days ago. Hopefully it doesn't keep happening. I wonder what could be causing this?

Did you play with any of the band priorities or enable/disable any LTE bands?  just curious because I had done this with mine and I suspect this may be the cause of the issue.  Also when yours does that have you tried a different sim card (Verizon, tmobile, at&t, cricket, etc)?  I am going to request a new sim card from Sprint today and see if it helps.

  7. Does anyone know if sprint will send out a new sim card?  I have had the no sim card issue twice now...  Im beginning to think that its the sim card.  But this has only happened since ive done the upgrade to 5.1...  Any thoughts?  I have had to do a full factory reset more than once now thanks to it.

  8. Hey guys so silly question but anyone else experience the phone not reading their simcard after manually updating the phone?  It was working and then the phone died and when i restarted it it says No Sim Card - Emergency calls only.  I have tried removing and reinserting the sim card but no luck..

  9. So the results are in from my testing out android 5.1 on the nexus 6.  I have found that battery life is a little bit better.  i got about 10 hours and 5 minutes before it shut itself down.  normally i was getting about 9 to 9.5 hours depending on what i was doing.  I used my phone off and on today for various tasks.  The screen was halfway dimmed.  Hows everyone elses battery life?

  10. Ok so I guess I'm gonna have to try and call sprint int he morning to get the code.  because 000000 did not work...  But on a side note I did manage to get 5.1 installed and it is much much speedier running!!!!  I think this is going to work out well.  Robert its time for you to get a Nexus 6!

  11. So you are not seeing the GCI/PCI/TAC line? In travisc's case, his device was reporting everything as null but somehow LTE Discovery was seeing it, which has me scratching my head. Which device are you on? Do you happen to use LTE Discovery also? Trying to find the common theme.. I haven't tweaked anything with that code recently.

    -Mike

pretty much.  When I am connected to certain towers ill see similar to what he is seeing.  My phone says im connected to LTE, but Im not.  Signalcheck will display both 1x800 and LTE but will not display anything for the GCI, but does show a TAC/PCI.  I get nearly the same message.  Also note I am still on 5.0.1 and have not received the 5.1 update yet on my Nexus 6.

I will download LTE discovery tonight.  I have been clearing my phone preparing for the android 5.1 update so when it comes to my Nexus 6 I can have a clean update and not worry about as many issues.  I generally uninstall most apps and reinstall after the updates so if I do have an issue I can isolate it to said app.  So I will let you know this weekend what LTE discovery shows me.

  12. Thanks will do, but in the meantime anyone have any input or similar situations?

most likely they will not.  been there done that...  they stick pretty tightly to the 14 day policy, and they will do whatever they can to prevent a return at that point.  if you purchased the phone with a 2 year contract and not ez pay then you can possibly get a cheapo phone from ebay and swap it out on your plan, and then sell the note 4 and then buy a nexus 5.  have you thought about that?  If its ez pay you are pretty much out of luck on that though...  I do not believe sprint will allow you to have a clean ESN for that phone until the end of your fulfillment.

  13. The problem with Us Cell Is I only get 500 mb on roaming and 3g at the very best. Since they got bought out by Sprint in the BN area I've been looking to switch to a different carrier. Thinking now sprint is my best option. By the way nice to meet you all.

That roaming cap is not fun, but on sprint I have gone over theirs several times, as at my parents house in southern illinois i roamed the whole time i was there.  Also at my old home in washington i roamed all the time and never once received anything from Sprint telling me to stop using data or i will be booted.  You shouldnt have an issue though with it in central illinois.  Sprint service is overall really good.  I would recommend you find a place near a sprint tower though if you are extremely concerned with it.  Good luck!

  14. Ahhh I thought you meant B26

    Sent from my Nexus 6

Nope.  Trust me if i had -50 dbm signal on Band 26 I would be lovin it!  my speeds would probably be quite good for being that signal strength.  But alas still only 1x800 broadcast from my local towers...  Maybe sprint will turn on the Band 25/26 soon if im lucky.
