Have  you done any speedtests while roaming?

Yeah I did a few on T-Mobiles LTE while roaming. When I had the best signal strength on band 71 I got 50 down 5 up. Average was around 20 down 3-4 up. Us cellular roaming  is a lot slower.

  2. Well I made my first trip up to our property in the middle of nowhere with my XS. Once I started roaming I noticed I’m on T-Mobiles band 71 most of the way and band 2 a little. It seems to hold band 26 about to the same point or maybe a little further than my old 6s. Switching to roaming is way more seamless with this phone compared to the 6s. The 6s would always get stuck on extended 1x a lot which was really annoying and unusable. The XS stayed connected to some sort of LTE the whole trip which would have never happened with the old phone. My old 6s never would roam on T-Mobile so that made a big difference plus the band 71. Normally with my 6s my phone would roam on us cellular the whole way which the XS stayed on T-Mobile until right when we get to our property then connected to us cellulars band 12. Overall the XS is a big difference in my experience here between the T-Mobile roaming+ band 71 and it not dropping to 1x every five minutes like my 6s use to. This XS will refuse to lose an LTE signal in my experience so far. I’m really starting to love this phone!

They might. They do release new firmware updates with most iOS updates.

The phone seems to latch onto LTE and won’t let go. It will show no bars of LTE pretty often. Sometimes it’s usable sometimes it’s not. I’m rarely ever on 3g unless I turn off LTE in settings when it’s holding on to a useless signal.

Yes, if you haven't updated to 12.0.1, please do so promptly. It fixed A LOT of my weak signal issues and my hard data drops I was experiencing, and the addition of T-Mobile roaming has even been better.

Ya I updated Monday it has Improved things. Just hoping they can still improve on it.

  5. I got an iPhone xs on Friday upgrading from a 6s and I’ve noticed a slightly worse cellular signal and WiFi strength. A little disappointing. I was in north east Missouri (in normally a us cellular roaming area) and I looked to see what band I’m on and it said I was on band 71. Has T-Mobile started deploying in Missouri already? Anyway is it likely apple will continue to tweak the modem in future updates or it is what it is?

Hmm, not sure what to tell you. People have reported in a few areas having more difficulty connecting to LTE Roaming. But if data is super slow, that might be a USCC network issue. I haven't used it in a couple of weeks.

I contacted sprint and U.S. Cellulars costumer service and both told me there were no issues showing for my area which is what I was expecting they’d say but im hoping there is some kind of solution soon. So far it seems like this is an isolated issue since I haven’t heard of any similar issues on this forum. Thanks for your input.

Which device are you using? Other users have reported issued with non-Sprint branded devices not connecting to LTE roaming. In the last couple weeks I was able to connect to USCC LTE roaming with my LG G7 and data was just fine.

I’m using an iPhone 6s. It isn’t really an issue connecting to LTE, it’s more that the data is unusable no matter what your on. Although I don’t connect to LTE as often as I previously would which could just be because of tree leaves. That’s why I thought it was a capacity issue.

  8. So I’ve always somewhat relied on U.S. Cellular roaming with sprint ever since I became a sprint customer because U.S. Cellular sold their St. Louis market to sprint. So I went years meeting my allotted roaming data because we have a weekend place in a rural area only covered completely by U.S. Cellular. Then recently with the new LTE roaming agreement sprint and U.S. Cellular made I was so excited because it would be considered native roaming and I would have access to LTE data and no data caps. Once the roaming was implemented it worked the best (for a few months) I had ever experienced speeds were usable and my phone was on 3g 50% of the time and lte 50%. Now (within the last month or two)data seems to be useless. I can’t do anything but call and text and my phone hardly ever has usable data. My phone seems to never be on LTE anymore and on 3g and even 1x most the time. I thought maybe it could be the tower being overloaded but driving home from our place the experience doesnt change at allgoing from tower to tower. I thought maybe it was something to do with my device or account but we had relatives up recently using sprint and they have the same problem. Then I asked another family member who is a U.S. Cellular customer and lives in that general area if he has experienced slow data recently and he said no it has been working like it always has. So I have no idea why it’s happening. Anyone here have any idea why this is happening? Sorry for the long post I know it’s probably too much but I didn’t want to leave out any details.

  9. Could you try it and use a megabyte or two and see what happens?

I would rather know what the potential charge would be because I live in a area covered by sprint but have a weekend place that is roaming on Us cellular. So I can't just test out a few megabytes its either have it on the whole weekend until I come home or don't have anymore data there until my next bill cycle.

  10. there isnt anyway to get more roaming data its based upon your plan and once you hit the limit they cut you off and you have to wait until your next billing cycle in order to have it turned back on

If I go into my services on my sprint account there is an option to remove the data roaming suspension why is this an option if there is no way to restore data?
