To get access to that backhaul, Sprint just needs to know Clearwire's password. I heard that it is "King-of-Pruschia."

Not even K1ng-0f-Pru5ch!@?
That's not very secure.

Yes, this is possible at those sites where Sprint and Clearwire are colocated. However, Clearwire legacy backhaul isn't exactly high capacity. I think Clearwire has sites with as little as 10-20Mbps service. And sometimes even less at some Protection Sites.
So it might be OK as a temporary stop gap to share Clearwire backhaul at colocated sites, upgraded backhaul would still be needed. As the Sprint LTE may drop to way below acceptable levels.

Interesting. Do you think this is a possibility. Even as a temp stop gap it seems like it could help especially places that have backhaul already ordered and just that are just idly waiting. The new backhaul should come in time for the new Triband phones. Even that low capacity backhaul could help 3g NV Sites not just lte sites. Seems like a no Brainer since more and more people are moving from wimax to lte.

Question for the experts. Since back haul is a huge reason sprint is lagging behind in NV deployment of lte, is it possible it can share back haul with clear wire on those sites where they currently co-locate. I mean won't it be like that eventually when they eliminate redundant clear sites anyway. This way maybe some lte can be turned on sooner then later and then get even more back haul once Triband phones come online. I think backhaul repurposed for 1900 is more important than 2600 right now.

does it work with mkv, mp4, dlna, etc?
So, I haven't followed the release at all... Does it do direct screen mirroring? If so, it's a cheap, less crappy way of doing allshare cast (I think that's what it's called). I want my emulators on the big screen!
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I don't think it does mirroring yet. Or its very limited. And it can't send local files per Se. You basically "cast" a link to the device. So YouTube and play music and Netflix works. Local files get sent via a network path link. But can't play all formats. Yet.

So were you conflicted on whether to map it on sensorly or not?
Edit: just realized you can't do it from a hot spot. Duh.

Someone created a lte hunting profile here once. Linked to it and everything. Never tried it tho.

Interesting times. Can't wait for the phones.

The other 60% will have to be evaluated whether they are redundant ton the Sprint network or provide additional coverage.
Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
So in places where they do provide additional coverage, do you think they'll add 800/1900 to the clear site?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Yeah i guess I meant putting 800/1900 on clear sites where there is no native sprint coverage.
So basically sprint wimax users who complained about losing wimax when they went to lte, are gonna get 4g back.

Was that the plan all along? Would it be safe to assume that they may put 800 and 1900 lte on those clear sites one day? Does anyone know where sprint and clear co-locate on the same sites in those cities that are currently launching 2600 lte?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

So sprint is gonna keep all these clear sites that are launching 2600? I thought they were gonna sell off clear sites when wimax was shutdown in a couple of years?

Next time I and the rest of us would appreciate more notice. That way I could have planned my disconnected vacation in conjunction with yours. Thanks alot. Now I have to go read a book or something. Thanks.

I agree with that, as I'm finding that in Northern Manhattan and the Bronx I find that I'm mostly in 4G territory. And since we don't have a signal strength indicator I'm never really noticing a recently upgraded site because what I use my phone for when not on Wifi is rarely that bandwidth intensive. That being said, I'm finding that if I'm stuck on 3G, it's actually noticeably better and very usable. No longer a death sentence, lol.
If you download signalcheck pro it has a signal strength indicator for lte. And for 800. Great developer to support.

I am now a sponsor... I hope Softbank escalates the upgrades.. How can I see the updated maps ?
Are you able to see the interactive maps in the sponsor section?

Wish I would have known about your site before my wife got me the S4 for Father's Day. Was super disappointed when I realized that I couldn't get 4g on my brand spanking new S4 but had it on what I thought to be antiquated EVO. Crap...
huh? S4 gets 4g. 1900 4g lte. They just won't be able to get 800 MHz lte. when it comes out later on. The new s4 is just future proofing.

It used to update both numbers before the last app update. But now it should be one or the other.

Ok i just realized there's an option to make the widget reset The data connection. Sorry about that. I really should poke around more.

800 was also turned on on Google campus today. Like all 8 towers. Interesting. Not all are 4g yet which is also interesting.

Ever thought of the widget containing the data reset button. Or a separate widget for that. Sometimes I'm not in the app when I want to force a reset.

I think something like that would be worth $9.99 if it were a use able and had some good capabilities.
Sent from my rooted G Note 2 Using TapaTalk 4 Beta
A really good app would be worth it. But would be very expensive to develop. At least a lot of man hours. A simple app that works off of the current map of accepted sites would be somewhat simple. Showing what you are connected to and stuff would be alot more coding. Just something simple that already uses the marker points that Robert already codes every night. Even a container window app would be useful.

I know this is a long shot. But what about making a map app with all the NV updates tower locations. Make is 99 cents. Or 1.99

We shall see. When does Sprint plan on turning on LTE on 2.5? I know sprint had said once they get approval from the shareholders and FCC we would find out more but I wonder exactly since they plan on launching Triband LTE MBB devices this summer
There are greater than 2000 completed TD-LTE sites situated in about 12 markets that are ready to be connected to Sprints MSC's and are slated to be activated in the coming weeks alongside LTE 800 as part of Network Vision 2.0
Do you know which 12 markets?

I hear what you are saying, but the Android developer style guidelines require that notification bar icons be entirely white. I know many other apps use colors, but I've been trying to hold onto the spec. That being said, I am working on an option to let the user change the icon color to whatever they desire (to match themes, etc.); once I get that working, perhaps I will revisit adding an option to colorize the icons based on network technology.
-Mike
Fair enough. I understand the clean white guidelines. They are great. But the choice is even nicer.
The nice thing about the network monitor icon that I have is that it outlines the color in white and lettering is white too. So it still keeps with the white theme. Still looks clean. Notice how the accu weather alert icon looks awful in red. I had to uninstall it cause no way to turn off the red during advisories.
Thanks again for listening to our feedback. Love this thing.

Wow I'm slow. Never realized you can put a button on screen. Thanks! Can it clean my room too?
Yep.. but I'm not telling you where that button is.. you're going to have to find it on your own!
FYI there is a widget as well.. I'm learning that a lot of people aren't aware of it. It's a useful alternative to the regular app icon if you keep it on a home screen. It's the same 1x1 size as a regular icon, but shows realtime info if you have the app running. It shuts down if you exit the program, for those of you who don't like extra processes in the background.
-Mike
Nice. I have used the widget. I like the different colors. Wondering if you could do the option for different colors for the signal bars up top. Like Bars (or numbers) turn purple for lte (green for 3g) or something like that. It would be easier to see 4g.
I currently use signalcheck pro and an app called network monitor. Network monitor has an icon up top that changes color when I have 4g. Makes it much easier to see. Especially when hunting.
