  1. Got some new LTE at Millbrae Caltrain/BART and walking up El Camino. Definitely a newly-finished tower. Yay!

My Sensorly data doesn't appear to be showing yet though..

Yeah my data hasn't showed up all day.

  2. I pass through that area daily since I have to go Penn Station to get home, plus to get to work. I haven't noticed any LTE there in that area, but there seems to be a live NV 3G cluster since 3G speeds are quite good.

The arena floor is on the 5th floor. So Im assuming the DAS solution would be up there and probably wont reach Penn Station. Probably only inside MSG. Alot of steel and concrete between the 2. So maybe its live in the arena already. Wont show up on sensorly cause you wont get GPS.

  3. Anyone been to MSG lately? I went first week feb and didn't notice any LTE.

TPI brings LTE-DAS to the Madison Square

    Garden and Improves Wireless Bandwidth

Dallas, TX—January 24, 2013– TPI a leading operator of indoor LTEDAS wireless infrastructure, has installed an LTE Distributed Antenna

System (“DAS”) in the Garden. The LTE DAS network will provide

Madison Square Garden fans with significantly increased bandwidth to

their mobile devices connected during games, with improved wireless

services to the millions that visit annually.

“TPI Systems owns and operates multiple DAS networks at

professional sports stadiums across the country,” said Jimmy Chiles,

President of TPI. “Our neutral-host LTE DAS networks can be utilized

by all major wireless carriers to provide their customers with increased

bandwidth during games, concerts, and other highly attended events.

We are excited to bring the latest LTE technology to the Madison

Square Garden enabling the finest wireless experience to millions of

    fans and patrons.”

According to Vice President Bob Van Dyk , “We are committed to

providing exceptional LTE service to the fans while attending these big

events”. TPI operates a technology platform known as DAS that

delivers the signals from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint to the fans that visit

MSG and ensure thatfans stay connected during big events.” The new

TPI LTE-DAS constructed at MSG includes the installation of 550

antennas located throughout the Garden that will improve wireless

coverage and bandwidth during peak event times. In addition to

ensuring voice calls are successfully connected, the LTE-DAS will allow

media phones, tablets and other devices to access the internet, run

interactive applications and stream photos and videos to social

networking sites among many other benefits.

  4. Sunset neighborhood with new coverage. Nice new tower.

I also saw the new tower near the Dumbarton bridge and 880. Finally the circle will be done. No more gaps in coverage down 880. Too bad I don't work in mtn view anymore.

  5. Unfortunately most people don't view it this way. They EXPECT the carrier to handle warranty issues directly, for free, immediately, with a new (not refurbished) device. Even if the issue is software, or repairable.

Welcome to my day, every day.

Open Enrollment requirements state the phone must not have issues with it to be eligible... officially. Just sayin'... :ninja: Your mileage may vary, if you are denied don't get angry because that's the way it is supposed to be.

It's a manufacturer warranty. Sprint is not the manufacturer. Sprint will play the middle man for you, for a fee.

The Repair/Exchange fee if you do not have ESRP or TEP is $50.

If you have either of those Sprint protection plans then it is free.

Honestly, I think the exchange fee should be more around the $100-200 range with today's smartphones as that's usually the cost associated with sending the device back to be refurbished/etc.

Thanks for the clarification! Do you know when sprint stopped doing 1yr replacements for free. I remember way back when I did it for free a couple of times.

  6. Ive worked preferred retailer repair stores and now a corp store that does advanced exchanges, if you have tep or add it this month with open enrollment you can get it replaced at the store for free in a day or so. Alternatively you can call samsung, they will provide you a RA number and u ship them your phone. They will repair or replace it if they consider the issue is under the limited warranty. It can take up to 2-3 weeks, going through spirit is quicker and easier in my opinion.

Ever heard of the $50 charge for those of us without tep or who choose not to enroll?

  7. Both sprint stores told me the same thing. They said its free if i go through samsung. But otherwise i would have to fork over the 50. Maybe its new for the s3. Not sure. can any sprint ppl comment on this? I also thought it was gonna be free for the replacement for 1 year.

Got it today. Looks great. Now to reload everything.

  8.

Sensorly must have been backed up.. yesterday's data is finally up (last checked about an hour ago)

Uploaded a bit of T-Mobile LTE this morning as well! Can't wait to see it on the maps.

edit: oh weird, it's visible at certain zoom levels

Yeah i mapped the marina in Emeryville on Sunday and it's only available in the most zoomed levels. Still not showing up zoomed out.

  9. There were some issues with the S3, you might want to search the forum, or the internet. Here is the one I was talking about! http://thenextweb.co...hardware-issue/ "Users are reporting that the mainboards are the root of the problem and that the flash memory is becoming corrupted and failing, though the devices do seem to last somewhere between 150 and 200 days before dying. According to reports, Samsung is replacing them under warranty whether or not people have rooted the devices"

This "sudden death syndrome" seems to be affecting the international version only. I wonder if this is what is going on with my phone and how widespread is it in North America.

  10. no root, no nothing. Lotta apps but nothing out of the ordinary.

Was listening to Songza last night. Woke up and my phone was off.

Booted it this morning. Booted fine. 10 minutes later it froze and rebooted. Happened 2 more times

Now its stuck on the Samsung Galaxy III boot screen.

Wouldn't even boot in recovery mode so I could wipe it.

Took it to 2 different sprint stores. 1 store said they tried reflashing it. no luck.

So they offered me to order a refurb for $50, is this the route to go? Or go into open enrollment insurance?

Anyone else heard of this with an unrooted phone?
