Go on the B46 towards Kings Plaza and run speed tests when you reach Avenues J,K and L. Around here you will get at least 10Mbps. It is the only area in Brooklyn where I have received speeds that fast. My uploads stop at about 1.5Mbps though.

What I really like about Root Metrics is that it shows how goodhyour results are based in your type of network. It is showing 1.4Mbps in the green zone whereas if I were on HSPA+ I would probably be in the red zone orange zone.

Similar to what I am getting in NYC except my ping can range from 66ms to 150ms.

Two more speed tests using Root Metrics App. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jigzcqrty5cjiaj/Screenshot_2012-08-17-19-03-14.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/x3ncaeezg48kx2t/Screenshot_2012-08-17-19-00-03.png From these, you can see that my speeds are relatively high although my signal is not that high.

Sprint LTE and iPhone 5
Paynefanbro replied to ks-man's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I thought that existing phones can already support 800Mhz CDMA? Or at least the one that came out this year. -
Where are you from because when I was on WiMax in my area, I would get up to 16Mbps. Ookla's speedtest.net app does not work well with WiMax. I recommend going to speakeasy.net/speedtest to test your WiMax speed. I found out about this because in comparing my friends LTE speed to mine in a download test, we loaded the app at the same time although his was reading 13Mbps and mine was reading 6Mbps.

Help identify Sprint equipment on tower
Paynefanbro replied to leerage's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
They are usually sitting on the roof of buildings. You will really only see the little flat panel things on the side. Not much of a sight. I know that some of them, like in Far Rockaway, have a bricki pattern on them to blend in with the rest of the building. -
Earlier today while driving from Downstate Medical center with my Aunt in Brooklyn I saw some network vision equipment at the top of an apartment building. I didn't get a chance to take a picture. I ran one speed test and it shot up to 2Mbps+! But as soon as I drove in pulled up and there another building blocking the tower it dropped to 1.6 Mbps.

Once, while I was in the city on 6th Avenue in lower Manhattan, I got 2.24 Mbps or so. I almost died when I saw that.

That's insane. I always check to see if I have used 4G data in New York, but I am always saddened. I don't really expect to see a signal anytime soon though.

Seems to me like you are on 1x. I never got speeds that low or a ping that high. I will be posting more speed test soon because yesterday I went to benihana and did a couple around there as well as in Brooklyn.

I think that Sprint will try to keep the Unlimited Plan going for as long as possible. I think that if they don't keep it that they might start to lose customers.

I would recommend switching back when LTE is released in here. Then you'll know for sure that you'll get fast speeds nearly everywhere you go.

T-Mobile loses net 205K customers, 557K post paid
Paynefanbro replied to bigsnake49's topic in General Topics
I suppose you are correct. -
I feel like when they make LTE go live in NYC, the only place you'll be able to find it is in Manhattan and in Downtown Brooklyn somewhere. However, when WiMax came out, I immediately got 4G service that only sped up over time whereas other people were complaining about how slow it was. I never experienced a WiMax speed lower than 8 Mbps. Then again I must be living in a sweet spot in Brooklyn.

T-Mobile loses net 205K customers, 557K post paid
Paynefanbro replied to bigsnake49's topic in General Topics
I am for an AT&T/T-Mobile merger as long as there was a Verizon/Sprint merger. I see it being complicated to mix the HSPA network of T-Mobile with the CDMA network of sprint. Out of the two mergers that I have mentioned before, an unlimited plan with the LTE coverage of Verizon would be a game changer! -
That's awesome! Glad to see I am not the only one!

Recently my speeds have been increasing and my ping has been lower significantly thanks to NV. These speeds were taken in Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. The slowest speed that I got of .10 Down and .15 Up was on1xrtt. The reason I was on 1x was because I was in the basement of a church. Either way that is a good speed on 1x. I would like to see if any other people were receiving speeds like this at all.

The HTC EVO 4G. Test was done earlier this year. Unfortunately I don't have it anymore thanks to the Sprint Buyback program.

You were probably on 1xrtt data.

Fastest I got here in Brooklyn NY was about 16 Mbps. It was consistant too. The lowest it dropped to was about 13 Mbps.
