  1. I just checked the Google Play site...both versions of the 64GB N6 are still "coming soon", but both the 32GB were available for a short period of time - black went quick, then gray.

    Darn...

Wow...  I had convinced myself to sell my iPhone 6 and preorder this device today.  Looks like that isn't happening.  Maybe I'll hang on to my iPhone for a little while...  Ha.

  2. Your iPhone 6 should come close to covering the cost.   :tu:

That's what I'm starting to think.  I picked up the 64 GB one, so I should be able to get something close to what this would be.

Or do I wait until next year and hopefully get my hands on a device with a Snapdragon 808 or 810?  I've already bought 3 phones in the last 11 months.

  3. So I just read that the N6 has the double tap to wake feature that I absolutely loved from my old G2.

Edit:  Yeah, I know you can get it on the N5 with custom ROMs etc, but it never worked as fluidly as the G2.  Native support for it on a Nexus sounds great.

Man...  All this device has to offer, CCA capable, and stock Android.  And the great new features for SignalCheck Pro...  Going to be hard to not pick this device up and ditch my iPhone 6.

Just that screen size...  I am going to have to wait and hold one at a store before pulling the trigger.  If I end up deciding to get one, maybe I'll have it around Christmas ha.

  4. Work mail server issue?  Where I work, they have been updating our mail server and at times, it will lag sometime 20 to 30 minutes.

Doubtful.  If our email system (University of Wisconsin) goes down, or really has any issues at all, then all hell breaks loose on campus.  I definitely would've heard about that.  Also, as soon as I opened my Mail app the messages came flooding in.  My personal email account was doing the same thing too.  Definitely something strange was happening though.

I tinkered with it a little bit more this morning by switching Push on and off like 10 times...  maybe it finally took hold.

  5. I am having another issue since upgrading to 8.1 - None of my email addresses are pushing updates to them.  This is a real no-no for work related issues since I am a web developer.  I need to know if something goes haywire at all times of the day.

I really hope they get this worked out for 8.1.1 asap.  I've tried everything...  Resetting the accounts and nothing.  It only updates if I open the Mail app.

Edit:  And out of nowhere - it is working just fine now.

  6. No issue with the new update.

Still seeing some strange performance glitches like Control Center and Spotlight, but beyond that, nothing is broken or not working correctly.

LTE scan times seems identical to before. Nothing seems to have changed with regards to the baseband.

Sent from my iPhone 6+ using Crapatalk

That gives me some hope. I'm going to look through my Apps and see if any of my new ones have background app refresh turned on. I try to keep most of them off, but maybe I missed one and it is constantly using data in the background.

  7. Meh... Hoping it is just bad luck, but it sure seems like the update is causing my phone to have a longer scan time for LTE. Taking up to 5-10 minutes sometimes by a known LTE site to get LTE.

Hoping it is just some sort of network issues around here...but I don't know. Maybe some data activity is going on in the background more often with the new update that is causing it to stay on 3G with an active data connection? I hope...

  8. So, I don't know if any of you remember...  But I had to ship my wife's iPhone 6 back to Apple to get the screen replaced.  Instead, they ended up replacing the device and charging the full $299 replacement fee.

Well, yesterday I received my invoice for the repair/replacement that stated, "IPHONE 6 REPAIRABLE CH - $299"

This of course had me intrigued as to why her phone was replaced instead of repaired if it indeed was repairable.  I then called Apple and spoke to a senior advisor who then also talked to dispatch.  Dispatch told her that they have a new system and maybe all of the kinks aren't worked out yet.  She then told me that she doesn't believe that is a good enough reason to charge me for the full $299 instead of the $109 for the screen repair, so she is going to escalate the matter and try to get me a $190 refund put into my account next week.

I really hope Apple makes this right!  I am sure they will, but the icing on the cake will be that she received a replacement phone so there aren't any scratches or blemishes that had occurred on her previous phone with the shattered screen.  (Oh, and I bought her a case the day we received her replacement!)

I would certainly use the $190 to add Applecare+ to both of our devices, so either way Apple gets my money!  :D

Hooray! I received a call today that they are processing my $190 refund!

  10. I will never let my friend get another Toshiba again. Hinges failed in her first and cracks developed on the case of her 2nd one right over the hinges.

I'm downloading and installing today despite potential bugs, because I do have a backup machine if something went wrong.

And I currently have 2 1/4 hours to go. It's hard only having 3Mbps, but it's the only plan my ISP has that's unlimited.

Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk

Damn...  over 2 hours just to download?  I am officially on Yosemite.  Too early to know of any bugs.  It took me less than 10 minutes to download.  Then about 20 minutes to install on my 2013 MBPr.

I don't really have any complaints on the old Toshiba.  I use it as a desktop replacement since it literally holds a charge for about 20 minutes.  The thing is a beast though.  Boots up Windows 7 in 8 seconds from a cold boot (I am an IT professional though so I know how to keep it working optimally).  No issues with its performance.  Only reason I got the Macbook in January was for the mobility.

Even with that said though...  I will also never recommend a Toshiba.  I had a lot of issues with how it was initially setup.  Even after manually removing most of the preinstalled crap (oh and a hard drive failure, but that was replaced under warranty before I bought my SSD), it was dog slow.  Once I installed a clean copy of Windows 7 it was fine though, and now with the SSD it flies.

Oh well, enough off topic talk.  Yosemite seems pretty nice.  Kinda weird with the new design, but I think I'll get used to it.

  11. Yosemite is now in the Mac App Store! Get to downloading!

    https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=915041082&mt=12#

About 5 minutes remaining on my install. I probably should've waited a couple days for reports on how stable it is. But I have my work laptop available if need be.. Or my iPad.... iPhone.... Old toshiba laptop... Consulting work laptop.... Wow I need to sell some stuff haha.

Anyone want a 4 year old toshiba laptop with horrible battery life, but an upgraded SSD? Runs like a champ! i7 processor! (1st gen that runs hot as crap but shhhhh) ????

  12. Why would you?  The math doesn't work out at all.

I assume you're on a subsidized plan. You buy an iPhone for $200 or $300 + taxes. After 2 years, you can sell the iPhones for $300 - $500 (depending on storage options), and you come out ahead $100 - $200 in your pocket.

With the lease, even at $5, you pay out of pocket $120 - $240 over 2 years, with nothing to show for it.

Why would anyone go this route???

I am not on a subsidized plan.  I have the Framily plan.  And it is moot anyway since Rocket87 clarified the terms.

If it was possible on the Framily plan then it would've worked like the following:

I currently pay $45 (unlimited) and $25 (1GB) for the talk, text, data part of my bill.  Then I pay the easypay payments of $27 and $31 for the two iPhones.  Total $128 a month plus taxes and fees.

    If I could've done the leasing for $5 instead (but can't as clarified) it would've been $45 + $25 + $10 (64 GB model)+ $5 = $85 a month plus taxes and fees with a free upgrade in two years.

I don't really care since I can and will just sell the iPhones on Swappa or something whenever I want a new device.

  13. Ummm..  If they had this option before I got my wife and I an iPhone 6, I definitely would have done this.  We are on a max discount Framily.  Her line would've only been $30 a month with the phone! (1GB), and I would've had umlimited for only $50!  (or $55 if they still allow the $5 bump for the 64 GB model).

Oh well.  These phones keep their resale value pretty well.

  14. They must have adjusted the towers here in baraboo no more b26 at my mom's cabin :(. But 3g is better then before at -90 which I'm totally okay with. Still rough Getting anything inside though. But that's all carriers.

That's weird, I was just out there yesterday. On hwy W just east of 113 right? I had a very good connection around there. In fact all around town I noticed much a much better B26 signal.

  15. Appreciate it but it's an ironic answer.

Then it is your device.  There are quite a few people that frequently travel around the Waukesha area from these forums that never have any complaints.  Sprint has improved tremendously in WI.  I joined Sprint last November and live in an area with horrible cell spacing (Sauk Prairie/Baraboo area on the edge of Sprint service), but I don't have any issues with signal if remotely near a site.
