  1. It looks good, but still way too similar to the original M8. We'll see how their sales go. I'm not as excited for it as I once was, but we'll see.

Yeah same here. I thought for sure the M9 was going to get me back to Android but since it appears to be pretty much the M8 with better internals I will probably pass.

  2. Good question. Coming very soon ;)

Very nice!  I have a feature request (maybe it is already built in for if/when the jailbreak version gets out).

I am unaware of the limitations of iOS so if it isn't possible, then don't worry about it of course - but can we get rid of the dots or dBm that Apple provides on the status bar and instead show the dBm values from the app (along with the LTE band as you have been working on).

I find that the dBm levels on the status bar from Apple tend to not update very often and as a result display some very incorrect values at times.  I love how you can set the refresh times in your app and I feel like it would be great to see those values displayed on the status bar instead!   :D

I hate to already be asking for things, so by all means ignore it.  Obviously the app as it stands now is leaps and bounds better than anything else we have on iOS for tracking!   :tu:

  3. No more Field Test!!!! This is a God-send.

In the first hour of having this app installed, I realized straight away that my G3 holds onto B41 much much longer than my iPhone 6+. I never noticed this before, because I could never catch this in time using Field Test.

Interesting... I realized from this that my iPhone kills my Nexus 5 in B41. Seriously isn't even close. About 5-8 dBm better in all locations which gives me a lot better coverage.

  4. Jailbreaking is very easy.  Didn't expect that..  This was my first time and it literally is only a few clicks.  Then I did my restore and everything is exactly as it was, but with 8.1.2 and jailbroken.

My iPhone is now ready and waiting for this beta.  :D  Maybe I won't have to go back to Android once the SD 810 makes it's way into a few devices after all.

Thanks for the work nahum365!  I was thinking about starting a project like this, but I just don't have the time anymore.

  5. I think AJ may have been onto something with his comment located in the wall post:

No, it is not a typographical error.

The LTE band table is just an illustration and comes from the Part 22/24/27 test documents.  In FCC regulations, those three parts cover Cellular 850 MHz, PCS 1900 MHz, AWS-1 1700+2100 MHz, Lower 700 MHz, and BRS/EBS 2600 MHz.

Note the absence of SMR 800 MHz, which falls under Part 90.  For that reason, band 26 typically has two sets of test results -- the Cellular 850 MHz segment under Part 22 and the SMR 800 MHz segment under Part 90.  The former is depicted in the aforementioned LTE band table.

But I found something interesting this morning.  I checked the separate Part 90 test and noticed that the results were for band class 10 CDMA2000 only.  In other words, this 2014 Moto X variant was not tested for the SMR segment of band 26, or those test results were not submitted to the FCC.  And there is possibly the smoking gun -- the reason why this variant is reportedly not headed to Sprint.

I went to Republic Wireless' site and went to the technical specs comparison between the Moto X 1st gen and 2 gen.  Attached I have a screenshot showing the difference in the network specs.  Long story short, it looks like CDMA in the SMR 800 range isn't supported:

    motox.PNG

Further more, if you look at the page with just the Moto X 2nd gen specs it shows:

    motox2.PNG

so it looks like it would be the "Sprint" variant that they are using - if it ever was released to Sprint that is.

  6. Maybe this opens up the possibility of white listing this device on Sprint considering they basically are a Sprint MVNO.

Hmmmm...  If this somehow does make its way to Sprint then I would be grabbing this over the N6 I think...  Interesting.

Not going to get my hopes up, but maybe I'll hold onto my iPhone 6 a while longer.

  7. Are you going to a corporate store, or one thats operated by someone else? Because the corporate stores here in Jacksonville area had them in stock.

Tried both types here in the Madison, WI area. We only have one corporate store left. They had a display set up, but without a phone still.

  8. For anyone, like myself, interested in the N6...  I just read on reddit from a verified employee that there will be a Black Friday promo where anyone that buys a Nexus 6 from Sprint will get a $50 Google Play Store credit.

Might just wait it out a week and hope they don't get too far behind the demand.

  9. anyways, good luck, I hope you get it.  Perhaps we'd have to grab that beer some day soon so I can see that N6 in person.  Did the store have a demo unit?  I'm assuming you're going to the University Ave store?

Not sure if they have a demo up yet or not.  Guess I'll find out in a couple hours.  I'm sure you will know if I end up getting it as I will probably be much more active on our Milwaukee Premier thread if I have SignalCheck running daily.  Once I get it, we can try to set up an afternoon to grab that beer after work.

  10. Man, I knew you'd be over here!!!  Mr. I switched to an iphone and I like it.  Pffffft.......Ha ha, you sound like me, I want this thing badly, BUT I don't want the 32GB version, however I don't want to pay full retail. (would kind of like the white version too)

Haha yeah.  I just miss Android too much.  The whole 6" screen thing kinda threw me off at first, but the more I look at it, the more I am sure I will grow to love it.  I don't install a ton of custom ROMs, but I miss being able to if I want to.  I miss all the widgets - SignalCheck...  everything about Android ha.

The 32 GB version doesn't bug me - on the 64 GB iPhone I still have 49 GB free and I have installed a TON of apps (in my mind at least).  I use SiriusXM for music, so I don't tend to keep any songs actually on my phone, and I offload pictures every couple of weeks to my computer.

I am going to attempt to scoop this up after work, but if it isn't in stock I might talk myself out of it during the weekend.  Who knows.  Either way I think I am going to sell the iPhone 6.  I will either be using a Nexus 6 or my old Nexus 5 by Monday.

  11. I might be heading back to Android and picking up the N6 tomorrow (if any stores in my area have it in stock).

My iPhone 6 64GB in space gray is probably headed for Swappa.  I know this isn't a forum to post anything about selling, but if any of you know anyone looking for one PM me and maybe we can work something out.  That's all I'll say.  I hope I don't get in trouble!   :hide:

  12. Butter smooth, great battery life thus far, turbo charge is a godsend. Louder than my friends HTC m8 but not as full, amazing display even next to the nexus 5, stellar cellular performance. The only bad so far is the auto focus and micro shots, in door camera performance is decent but could be better. Size to me is not a big deal but then again I have gorilla's hands lol

All sounds good to me.  While I take pictures with my phone, I don't really care if they are the best of quality.  Typically just snaps to the wife and friends, ha.  We have a nice digital camera that I use for anything important.

I'm 6'4" and could handle a Nexus 7 as a phone if I had to, so I don't think the size is too big of a deal.  I wish it was a little smaller, but I'm sure I'll adjust just like I did when I went from my old work provided iPhone 4S to a G2.

If either of the Madison stores have one in stock tomorrow, I'm pretty much buying it.  If they don't then I might talk myself out of it...  I don't know.  I'll let the availability decide it for me!

  13. So overall what are you guys' impressions?  Glad you got it?  Any hiccups with general performance?  Smooth as butter?

Hope you guys don't mind all the questions.  I went from like 10% likely that I'd buy this device this morning to probably 90%...  Between selling all 3 old devices, I should easily be able to pay this in full and get a little extra back.  I'm going to put the G2 and N5 up on Swappa tomorrow and the iPhone 6 whenever I get my hands on a N6 (if I do in fact end up going this route).

Certainly going to be stopping by a Sprint store tomorrow at some point to play around with one and possibly purchase if they have any in stock.

  14. Just the usual.

Very nice...  The N5 (at least for me) doesn't show the SNR like my G2 did.  I think I'm going to put my iPhone 6, G2, and N5 up on Swappa and get a N6.

Since you still have the N5, can you put them both side by side and make sure they are on the same site and sector and post comparisons?  (whenever you get time.  You have a new phone, so I know that is probably the last thing you wanna do ha.)
