I'm awesome at new meanings for acronyms.
  3. Because (most) Apple fanboys are completely smitten with everything apple. If it doesn't have the Apple label on it, it's junk. There are some that will also see the merits of other devices, but still think the Apple is superior. It seems like every article proclaiming some new innovation on an Android, WP etc device, there will be some Apple fanboy dumping on it. Not quite to this degree, but something like this: "The new Windows Phone has a sensor that can detect and cure cancer, and it has been proven to work by every scientific body in the world. This is revolutionary and will increase the quality of life for everyone on the planet." Apple fanboy response: "This project was scrapped on the iPhone, all it does is kill your battery and it has been proven by Apple that cancer is preferential to getting Alzheimer's. Nobody wants this feature, Apple is the king of the world." I just always want to say "yep, we get it, you love Apple"
  4. Yeah I would have stuck it out too if I was paying $40 a month. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  5. There isn't much done to this ROM. I loaded up a leaked version of 4.0.4 after I unlocked/rooted with Wugfresh Gnex Root toolkit The only changes from pure stock to what I am running is: - Rooted with full busybox support - De-odexed - Zip-aligned - Insecure stock boot image
  6. I don't know how that would work either, especially without scrambling the brains of anyone within 6-9 feet of the charging pedestal. Weak minded fool I am, bought it as a possibility. LOL
  7. After I posted all that, I thought "oh I should have checked the dBm when I did the speed test". I will check when I get home.
  8. I live in a college town, I think we are bringing up the percentage of LTE phones for Verizon. I know a local guy (on grandfathered unlimited) that used to get over 30 mbps all the time, but over the last couple months, his speed has gone down to what I currently get. I hope they thicken and enhance, but if I continue to get what I am getting now, I would be fine with it. I use my Wi-Fi in the house, don't stream video, and am on tiered anyway. If my speeds were faster, I would just burn through my alloted data faster. I don't need screaming fast speeds, just usable speeds. That was my reason for leaving Sprint. When I can't even load a website in 5 minutes, and 1xRTT is an improvement in speed, sorry that doesn't cut the mustard.
  9. He has good speeds on his roof. Which would lead me to believe that it might be good around the area. Sometimes coverage doesn't penetrate buildings well. Even Verizon with their "superior building penetration" drops off significantly when I walk into my house. I never experienced that with Sprint. An airave is not an admission of poor coverage in every instance. My coworker has Verizon service everywhere but in his house. He can step outside and have coverage, but as soon as he goes inside, poof, gone. He asked Verizon for whatever they call their gadget, network extender or something, and they told him that he would have to pay $200 for it. Now he is looking at AT&T. Also the screenshot of 25mbps down and 1mbps up was on Wi-Fi. I don't know why my cable internet governs my upload speeds like that... maybe to discourage people from hosting torrent files or something
  10. I don't know what the deal is. I have superuser inslalled. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  11. Verizon isn't always that fast. This is LTE at good signal. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  12. Feel bad for you... while I hate city life, I like these speeds. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  13. And of course I have my phone rooted lol. from the day after I bought it. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

  18. I am definitely in the minority here, but I felt like the E4GT was more durable. I had the 3D in a case all the time, but the E4GT, I would keep in my pocket, out of the case. I even dropped my uncased E4GT from about 5 feet onto rough concrete getting out of my truck at the gas station and there was not a scratch on it. The 3D felt heavy and like I would drop it if I wasn't giving it a death grip. It also felt like it would gain more speed if I dropped it and smash the screen. The plus to the 3D would be that replacement digitizer is around $20 where a E4GT screen is almost $200 if the screen were to ever break.
  19. The 3D was a good phone, but I liked the E4GT quite a bit better. Possibly due to my severe distaste for Sense(less waste of resources) Not to mention the 3D was way harder to unlock the bootloader and root. All in all though, the 3D was a very good phone, but the E4GT seemed to me to be in a class of its own.
  20. Root is root. When a program is set to not function on a rooted phone, that is all it looks for. The program will usually look for /system/bin/su. There is a program out there that is supposed to rename that temporarily and then put it back the way it was after you do whatever you were going to do. There is a slight chance that a ROM could be written that wouldn't need the superuser app to be in the /system/bin/su directory and still have root access, but I haven't heard of it.
