  1. I dont have issues with the RF performance, it's the S6's desire to hold on B41 beyond where the phone can reliability provide data services.  The cutoff for this phone should really be around -115dBm before switching to another band.

The crossover from B41 to B25/26 on my nexus phones was much lower.  When I disable B41, my service works as expected.

As for the dropped call issue, I do all my calls over hangouts dialer so I haven't had any issues.  Data performance is solid for me while on a call.

I consistently have great experiences with ~-120dbm B41 signal on my note 4. Around 10 down/1 up in many areas. Just throwing it out there, I've never been stuck on an unusable B41 signal.

  2. Yea did a quick Google search... nothing.

Native simultaneous v&d is a must have for work.

    Thanks for the reply.

As others have said, if it's a must integrate google voice and use hangouts for your calls.

  3. When it finally attached to my line, it switched back to $5/mo. So I removed it, and will tweet Marcelo tomorrow with proof that it was $0 to get it added to my account for that price.

Thanks for posting this. Just checked and my lines are now showing the $5/month charge now too. After removing, it shows the option is free again. They need to get that fixed.

  4. Correct. On a Galaxy S-5 with Lollipop, If I have a -100 LTE signal on either band, I have one little tiny stinking bar. I personally know this is not a bad signal and the LTE will be fine.   HOWEVER, to the uninformed, it appears that the Sprint service is horrible. A -100 signal SHOULD be about 3 bars like it is on other carriers.

Somebody at Sprint or Samsung needs to grow a pair of Gonads and step up and fix this. I never designed a Cell phone in my life, but I really believe that a software update could fix this.

Since most of the population is severely uninformed, this defect is costing Sprint & Samsung quite a few lost sales and is destroying their reputation.   Who would think a phone was ok if you are running around most of the day with only one bar showing for signal strength?

Even though I know the phone and service is fine, I have steered quite a few people away from a Samsung Galaxy S-5 even though they seen mine and wanted one for themselves.  I did not want a friend that was uninformed to see a one bar signal level and not be happy.

I wonder if spamming this to Marcelo on twitter could bring the issue to light. Frankly I'm amazed no Sprint employees have noticed this and brought it forward yet.

  5. PRL affects scan behavior by device.  The network can be set up to control band/channel switching.  Sounds like Sprint is trying to do eactly that now.

So if my phone is idling on 1X 1900, the network can switch it over to 1X 800 or vice versa (just like LTE)?

Or is this load balancing only when a device is ready to drop LTE for a phone call?

  6. I dont know what the contract says, and I dont have a copy here.

If it explicitly says you can upgrade in 20 months, then theres a problem, as they cant change that.

Does anyone know what the contract says?

Not exactly. Sprint announced that all contracts signed after 9/1/2014 would move to 24 months. Of course, most people get paperless bills too so theyd never see any such information.

In fact as of yesterday, people were still being told they were going to be able to upgrade on 3/1, and then they walked into the store today and were told it was magically 7/1. The Sprint forums are on fire over this issue, so it was clearly a surprise.

Thats a huge problem, and an enormous bait and switch. Having the website, the automated systems and the customer service reps telling people they can upgrade on 3/1 and then on 3/1 saying they can't is customer service disaster.

Apparently, there was zero customer service training about the new timelines, so again, it's clearly a surprise.

Personally, I think (and hope) it's a technical error and will be corrected. I think all contracts signed after September are 24 months (as anounced) but those of us who signed before get to keep 20 months until we renew again. That was the expectation set at signing.

I don't think there's anything in the contact about future upgrades. Sprint isn't obligated to provide future subsidies at all.

  7. As much as the AWS-3 Auction went for, I don't think just $1B is going to cut it....if the auction does happen, they're going to need a lot more capital to be able to get a good amount of spectrum. Unless it isn't part of their strategy. We shall see i guess...

It may just be cheaper to flood the nation with more cell sites than trying to win some 600MHz, depending on how aggressive ATT/VZN/DISH are.

  8. Is there really a difference between turbo and regular spark? I checked the map for my area and I'm in a turbo location. I'm glad they are making right the map but if they want to really make it right just redesign the whole map and get it out that block window it's been in for years and years.

Turbo is probably where you'll hit peak speeds at, and regular spark is just B41 coverage.
