  1. Anyone had any issues with your N5 restarting randomly?  Mine just started doing this today.  It would sometimes display the option menu that pops up when you hold the power button just before it would randomly restart.  The last time it restarted it started bootlooping and I thought the phone was done for...  Only thing new that was installed recently was the Scorecenter app since college football is starting up again.  Any ideas?

  2. Sweet! Thanks for the refresher. I always meant to change the custom band but didnt quite get it until now. Wow I get alot more b41 around sf than I thought. Anyway to color code the log to make it easier to identify bands quickly. B41 isn't too bad. But trying to see b26 when scrolling quickly can be easily missed cause it looks too much like b25. Also maybe different colored icons for different bands in the status bar. Thanks again!

Great suggestions! My time is little more strained now that I have begun some research projects but I've been planning on adding in some more theme customizations and I think this could be a great feature to add. I know first hand those when those logs start piling up it gets tough to sort through all of them.
  3. Since it's a s5 and b41 is not reported on 3rd party apps is the gci reported correctly? Where do I find gci in debug menu?

Yep the GCI's are reported correctly. If you set up the Custom Band option in LTE Discovery to identify sites with the first three digits of the GCI (area code) that have "043" and a TAC of 17282 as B41 then the app will identify all B41 sites in your area that meet that criteria as B41. I posted about this not too long ago in the GS5 thread.

The app will even go back and fix all the old log entries that have been incorrectly labeled as Band 25 sites.

Note: You will have to continually add to the Custom Band list the app maintains as you travel around but it is a temporary solution until the GS5 receives an update that allows us to fix whatever the PLMN ID issues may be.

No, uninstalled Sensorly a while back. Any chance LTE Discovery app could cause it to turn on?

Sorry just saw this post...  No LTE Disocvery shouldn't cause your screen to turn on for any reason.  When out of the application or the screen is off all the foreground task turn off without the exception of those ran in the background anyways.

  4. When I get my iPhone in a few weeks, I will finally be looking for some b41. Im excited!

I held out! Didn't get an android device even though the LG G3 tempted me big time. I hope it was worth it.

Isn't it rumored that the next batch of flagship Android devices will support carrier aggregation? You may be waiting for the wrong device... This time next year it's very possible you will be saying "I will finally be looking for some CA" lol.

  5. Have a new version of LTE Discovery rolling out for all users today.  Among other things, this version contains a pretty hefty performance update so that should help alleviate any performance issues you may be having.  Thanks to all the beta developers for helping me fine tune this one!

  6. Interesting...maybe a mistake? Maybe done on purpose?

But Marcelo Claure 'favorited' this tweet (which really is negative about Sprint right now...)

    @Maximus1901: @sprint why don't you throttle instead of charging #overages #ItsANewDayForData #sprintlikehell @JohnLegere @marceloclaure #greedy

Maybe he is planning to take the T-Mobile approach?
  7. Really hard to say with B41 towers (some report great coverage), but I don't usually expect much in regards to coverage.  For almost the entire summer, I was eye level with a direct line of site to a B41 tower only a quarter mile away and would have a signal of -80dBm.  If I went downstairs behind the apartment and lost LOS with the tower it would drop to -105dBm.  Inside of a building about a half mile away from the tower I couldn't get any B41.

It is really going to depend on the downtilt of the tower and the obstructions between you and the tower.

Exactly. Especially if he lives in an apartment/condo. I have the worst interference issues in my condo. Luckily, nobody is running on any channels in the 5ghz range, so it is all mine! Of course, it doesn't propagate nearly as well, but even with a weaker airlink, my speeds are still much faster.

I'm also running a 40mhz wide channel, which does help.

Similar situation here... There are more WiFi networks in the 2.4ghz range here than I can count, but I have free reign of the 5ghz channels.

    LG G3

And to add to that, I have a 210-250$ router that my work provided me with.

When I had it with comcast, I would get download speeds of 50+ every single time, and would practically never EVER have to refresh or reboot a video. Now, it happens every single time. I also time out while playing gta online... So it had got to be bright house? They always give me issues...

    This is the router. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825390004

Edit: I'm sorry, this is incredibly off topic

Download a WiFi Analyzer app and check for interference. You probably ran a different WiFi channel prior to the switch and didn't have any interference then.

Doesn't matter how fast the connection or powerful the router if the whole neighborhood is parked on channel 6 lol. With any luck this could be a quick fix for you.

  8. Thanks. I've been randomly going into the debug menu looking for band 41 and when I finally saw it, I went to LTE Discovery and got the CGI and other info. This was in Carrollwood near Fletcher and Dale Mabry.

Did I fill out too much info or is it okay?

I'd recommend removing the cell and sector fields (make sure they are blank) so this will work across all Band 41 sites in the area that use "04B" to designate B41 sites.  Right now this will only detect Band 41 on one sector of the site you logged.

After doing some googling, there is no longer a paid Tapatalk app for Android. They moved to a single app system. You can no longer upgrade to Pro status. If you were already a Pro user, you get to keep that status which is connected to your Tapatalk login. Beyond that, everybody gets the free version with ads.

Great to know. I've been using the old pro app, which is way behind updates, for awhile now. Moved over to the regular app and have no ads.

  9. We allow topics on other providers. They are closely monitored and have to follow the posting guidelines explicitly. They cannot be anti-Sprint, or overly promotional or virtual advertisements for other providers. They need to be more technical in nature and expand the intellectual discussion of networks and enhance understanding.

Members can add other provider topics in the General Topics forum. If a thread requires constant moderating and takes too much time to keep it on course because of consistent problems or trolling, then we will shut it down.

Could the posting guidelines be updated to reflect what is certainly permitted regarding other carriers?  I know sometimes the rules have changed frequently brought on by discussions in various threads, where the change is also announced, and it is hard to stay up to date on what is acceptable without monitoring every thread for issues that have arose.  I know at some point it was became against the rules to post speedtests from other carriers, and if I can remember correctly at some point it was also against the rules to discuss other carriers at one point in time.  Would just be nice to have a singular place to refer to for future reference.  I don't want to find out I posted something unacceptable after the fact.

  10. Had a surprisingly good B41 experience this morning. I've had consistent B41 with great handoffs all along the 408 and down I-4. Haven't dropped down to B25 or B26 at all. I've logged over ten B41 sites already.
