I am extremely pro-merger.  I would have rather 3 very good networks than two good networks and 2 hit and miss networks, even if prices go up(this isnt a for sure thing). Further, with the amount of spectrum the new company would have (and hopefully the capital to deploy it!) They could compete against traditional fixed line broadband, a plan masa aluded to last time he attempted to merge the two companies.

The low end of the market can be served by MVNOs.

Remember this is a capital intensive business, which means the market is better served by fewer players with larger scale and there is another round of massive capital expenditures right around the corner.

This merger would stagnate the wireless market it would stink almost immediately.  You are pro-merger but already wondering if they would have capital to build and expand the network.  Sprint now has positive revenue to increase CAPEX for additional B41, MIMO, and 5G why hault the improvements that Sprint has been making?

You guys screaming pro merger really need to sit back and really think, are you willing to see less competition and increasing wireless bills?  Not to mention that unlimited will be a thing of the past, after all it was Sprint and T-Mobile that made the big two offer unlimited.  If this merger goes through I don't want to hear complaining I am taking names...

Boost Mobile now includes taxes and fees in their service plans just like Tmobile.  I hope this comes to Sprint postpaid to compete with Tmobile.  Just another way to align themselves together with Tmobile.  I think with Taxes and Fees included and being the only carrier now that contains 1080p video streaming in their base service plan, hopefully that should draw more customers to Sprint.

I'm sure Sprint will implement this at some point in time but for new customers only...

  3. Anybody hear any new rumblings of merging?    I thought both of our fearless Sprint leaders said a merger announcement was "imminent"??

Imminent no, speculation yes, but a couple of members here talk like a merger is imminent. Personally I believe Sprint could stand on its own two feet and wreck havoc on Verizon and AT&T with the power of their spectrum holdings.

  4. Update:  After putting a full days work traveling around my city and the surrounding area and using LTE calling, I'm impressed.  No dropped calls, all outgoing calls connected instantly, crystal clear voice, had a few of my Verizon friends ask me if I got a new phone because I sounded much clearer on their end.  Can't wait for full blown VoLTE.

  5. I was just saying to myself that we'd likely get it in the next update.

Also what is "Enhanced Messaging new features"? Is that stuff that you can only experience using the Android Messages app? I was hoping maybe RCS would be enabled in the default Samsung messaging app sometime soon.

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

It is the enhanced messaging (RCS) that is embedded within Samsung's stock messaging app, but can only be used between Samsung devices that have this feature turned on.  For some reason the S8 on Sprint was disabled upon release but its nice to see a feature that I was so use to on the S7 return (literally all of my friends and family have either the S7 or S8),

  6. Centurylink has a very small footprint.  Won't really benefit Sprint in terms of reduced tower backhaul costs.

I'd be surprised if Centurylink has fiber to any node in my market.

But I would love for them to buy Centurylink.  Increased tier 1 backhaul.  Could help a lot with making their wireless core infrastructure better, faster.  I think tier 1 is also a solid business to be in. I'd love for them to deploy FTTH in existing CenturyLink residential markets.  I'd have three 1Gbps options. :D

Don't forget... Sprint wireline ---> Embarq ---> Centurylink

  7. I may be thinking either AT&T or T-Mobile with the tower upgrade listing information, as I know I saw this about a year ago, though its been a while from now that I last looked at a coverage map.

Sprint had a map displaying recent tower upgrades such as voice, capacity, and data speed upgrades during NV as AJ stated, it was found at network.sprint.com back a couple years ago.  AT&T use to have a map sort of like Sprint's back during AT&T HSPA+ upgrades but was not as detailed as it only show by market and did not give exact cell site locations.   T-Mobile as far as I can recall did not provide any type of map.

  8. Is this the model # for the unlocked version of the Galaxy S8 +?

    SM-G955U1

I'm looking at a new phone that has that model number and want to make sure it's the unlocked version and has all the same bands as the Sprint model.

    B25, B26, and B41 for Sprint

    Frequencies and Data Type

    B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B13(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(800), B28(700), B29(700), B30(2300), B66(AWS-3)

  9. Tower crews in my area have been deploying 4x MIMO 1900 and NSN Mini Macros aggressively here since the beginning of the year.  They usually have the 4X MIMO upgrade complete within two days if the weather permits.  I've noticed new 4X MIMO deployments have started to pop up in the Kingsport, TN area as of last week as well.

Note, this picture was taken in February 2017  and has only 800/1900 LTE w/ 4X MIMO upgrade but has been touched with B41 as of two months ago.

  10. Nothing against this site's name, but wouldn't it be conflicting after a merger if the new company is called T-Mobile?

How about we cross that bridge when we come to it. All these reports should be taken with a grain of salt until its officially announced by Sprint/Softbank or T-Mobile/DT.

  11. Rumor the Germans are finalizing the Sprint-T Mobile merger in an all stocks purchase. With Sprint free unlimited plan running  until June 30th expect this merger to be announced during the first week of July. lets see what the Magenta cult says when T Mobile is charging 120 dollars for a single unlimited line. Verizon and T will love this to happen because they can raise prices again, no that they are that low anyways.

    *Marcelo releases golden parachute*

Again this is speculation and even though a Sprint/T-Mobile tie up looks favorable with the current administration lets not jump to conclusion that this will be a done deal.

  12. The widget is doing it sometimes too. Did it start on Android 7 for you? I also noticed that my Pixel takes a long time (over a minute sometimes) to get a signal update if it's sitting still. That's not the app, that's the phone not refreshing anything (presumably because the data isn't changing significantly).

    -Mike

Noticed it after the beta update, never noticed it before but that's not to say it wasn't doing it.
