Yes, in my example the strike price is basically a floor. Once the share price is above that you could wait until the price hits $20 before you cashed in. Then you buy your shares at the option price of $10 and you would pocket the difference.

The expiration date of option is something you'll decide on. You can buy options expiring 1 month from now or a year from now. Maybe more. They'll all have different strike prices. You'll have to decide whether the stock price will be above those values within the expiration dates you're looking at.

Now this is all for "call" options. Which means you're wanting to buy shares because the price will rise in the future. There's also "put" options if you want to sell shares because you think the stock will go down in the future.

Time decay can be a pain though, this is why I stick mainly to stocks rather than options.

Wow! That’s incredible. Thanks for the explanation.

I’ve never done options before. This sounded like a good opportunity to do it.

I’m still a little unclear on what “strike price” means in this context though.

Yea options can net you big money during large mergers, or large cap earning season (Google was another money maker).   Its the only time I start targeting options, I mostly only trade small and midcap stocks that are not range bound.

Nice! Would you mind sharing more details on what you did? Just curious to learn more.

One options contract allows you to control 100 shares of a "x" stock, option calls are for when you believe the price of the stock will go up, option puts are for when you believe the stock price will go down.  I do not trade options much but this was a easy give me free money that this merger was going to get approved.  Basically I purchased 300 option calls at a strike price of $8.50 to control 30,000 shares of Sprint.  These options as of yesterday were only $.03/ per option = $3.00x300 per contract for a total of $900.00.  When the merger was announced at 11:30AM and as Sprint's stock started moving towards $8.00 per share these option calls increased in value.   My $900.00 entry netted me  close to $8,000 within 24hrs.

Easiest trade I have ever made in my trading career.

So when is the DOJ going to commit to announcing?  They put the deadline on T Mobile and Sprint last week that everything needs to be completed by the end of this week,.. now we are all waiting on them.

In addition, T Mobile has postponed their 2nd quarter earnings meeting with investors schedule for yesterday, then delayed until  today, now it's delayed until further notice.    Can this get any more unorthodox?

T-Mobile is trying to control the PR, earnings were released today with a EPS of $1.09 which beat the estimated $0.97 T-Mobile still making moves.  One of the best quarterly results to date for $TMUS, the conference call will more than likely include the announcement of the Sprint/T-Mobile merger.  I suspect we will get some news before the open of the trading day tomorrow.

  5. This merger is now totally different from what was originally planned merging and creating a fourth carrier, giving up spectrum, at this point I sound like a broken record.  Son needs to give up and take the "L" and sell Sprint to someone that will actually spend the money and get Sprint back on its feet, if Sprint needs to file chapter 11 bankruptcy,  do stock offerings, sell portions of their network so be it this has become a clown show at this point.

Isn't 8615 ALWAYS 15X15.  I thought it was part of the "C" block and the G Block. C & G are adjacent, so 10 in the C and 5 in the G gives you 15.    In some of the Shentel area, we have the 15X15 (8615) aggregated with 10X10 in the A Block (8140). That is some real good band 25.  Too bad this will not happen everywhere.

8615 is only 5x5MHz here in the Bristol TN/VA and surrounding area.  Sprint has CA 8665/8615 here and still pretty speedy with speeds hovering in the 30Mbps during peak times and bursts over 50Mbps at times.

Well that changed fast. I wonder what else they could want when it comes to antitrust?

Pretty simple, its clear the DOJ wants to keep four carriers.  Everyone knows that having three carriers will kill all competition in the wireless market.  Best thing for Son to do is take the "L" and sell Sprint to someone that is willing to put in the CAPEX and give Sprint a nudge in the right direction.

  8. Well I pulled the trigger I got the regular S10 (prism black) instead of the + model this go around.  So far the RF experience seems to be on par with my S9+ I have really noticed much a difference yet but Sprint's service here as always been good.  VoLTE calls connect instantly and sound great!  Really digging this fingerprint scanner under the screen!

    Indeed it should.

Nobody anticipated the interference issues ahead of time?

I had to work on the issue first hand back in 2009/2010 when I was on the communications board for my county.  Back then our county operated a Motorola SmartNet Type 2 800 system that was experiencing this Nextel interference issue after Sprint purchased Nextel.  I suspected that Nextel knew about this becoming problem later down the road due to the fact that Nextel had went all around buying up 800 licenses for their iDEN network.

Sprint not only had to pay for the re banding of our system but had to purchase our county entirely new radios both portable and mobile units due to the fact that the current configuration on the radio system which was built in 1997 wouldn't take the re-banded frequencies.

I hope that someone writes a book about how Sprint got to this position one day; one of those well-researched and heavily-sourced ones.  It would be a fascinating read.

The first chapter needs to be about Gary Forsee, chapter 2 should mention the word Nextel.

Sprint was on a roll with 3G EV-DO back in the day and one of the best 3G networks back then, I believe Sprint would have been a competitive and strong company if they stayed away from Nextel and focused on additional 3G sites and future spending on new spectrum. Instead Sprint devoted their time to purchasing Nextel's lackluster  800 iDEN nework that ended up causing more headache once it was known that it was causing interference with 800 public safety radio systems.

I've had a real struggle with auto-brightness always being wrong lately. My wife on her S9 has had this issue as well. Frustrating to say the least. That's really the only issue we've seen. The double notifications from things like Twitter are annoying but I'm used to them now.

Go to settings ---> display ---> tap auto brightness ---> reset usage patterns

    See if that helps
