  1. Signalwise, that is likely true. How this transfers to overall performance is not known yet.
  2. Phone was not fully actived, which store said they would fix. Rsrp from debug screens, which did vary and showed correct info. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  3. I put one side by side with my v20. The B41 rsrp appears to be 6 to -1 db better. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  4. Yes, it is. Best speeds at off hours from prime locations. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  5. These may not turnout to be the GMOs of yesteryear. Mini Macros dramatically change the cost and weight/wind calculations for B41 and B26 equipment. Hopefully we will see some soon on these GMOs just like the Clear conversions and now network vision sites in Columbus.
  6. Generally much smarter to use wifi (if available) on the cruise ship as the cost can be far cheaper. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  7. Actually Western PA has been getting lots of LTE upgrades lately. Why Sprint does not show them on the coverage map is another story. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  8. Just to be clear, the real issue would be in areas with no 3g at all for Sprint yet ting shows Verizon roaming or only Verizon phones work. No Verizon roaming with areas with good Sprint 3g coverage makes sense. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  9. It could be Sprint that has eliminated some of the Verizon roaming. The next time you have roaming on Ting but not Sprint, go into debug If possible), then EVDO engineering and make a note of what channel is being used. This site will allow you to convert it to frequency: http://niviuk.free.fr/cdma_band.php Also note the some carriers are now using LTE in the same frequencies as their 3G (T-Mobile in NYC - not VoLTE which is a different matter). Overall, usage of CDMA even on the Sprint network has dropped dramatically, based on logs I see.
  10. Yes, they should allow for Carrier Aggregation. Sometimes a core upgrade is required, as we observed in Columbus for 3CA.
  11. What are the earfcn? In some of Shentel, there are wireless internet providers occupying the prime BRS spectrum. EDS is harder to coordinate contiguous spectrum. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  12. Don't forget Sprint is also testing in the field CA 25 which could be used just with on b25 for greater speeds benefiting the edge. Unfortunately, we have not found it yet. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  13. I expect b41 will start arriving where needed, as the cost structure has dramatically changed. Could be stand alone small cells or more likely small cells at macro sites like this (premier only): http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4825-columbus-market-mapspreadsheet-premier-edition/page-127&do=findComment&comment=501915
  14. Portsmouth, Marietta, and Parkersburg have been sold to Shentel, a well regarded Sprint Affilate: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4897-shentel-sprint-lte-was-ntelos-west-nw-virginia/page-138#entry501916
  15. Here are the counties affected, if you take the press release at face value. Counties that I knew to be only nTelos have been removed: Huntington BTA Boyd, KY Carter, KY Elliott, KY Gallia, OH (Portsmouth) Greenup, KY Lawrence, KY Lawrence, OH Parkersburg BTA Calhoun, WV Pleasants, WV Ritchie, WV Washington, OH (Marietta) Wirt, WV Wood, WV (Parkersburg) Cumberland BTA Allegany, MD (Cumberland) Garrett, MD Grant, WV Hampshire, WV Mineral, WV The Sprint WV market is almost all LTE (B25 & B26). Most of its population is in Parkersburg and Marietta, thus I feel this agreement may extend further to include this entire market. It is Samsung rather than ALU (Nokia) which Shentel uses. It has one outlier: Logan WV. Most of it is part of the Columbus MTA. Portsmouth is currently part of the Columbus Market and is all LTE except one site. Rumors have been flying for months about it being moved to another market. A freeway (US 23) connects it to Columbus. The nTelos 3g sites are in the perfect location to cover a freeway bypass around Portsmouth that is being built now. All of these 3g sites are in the merger agreement to be improved to LTE by the end of next year iirc. Now it is also possible that Shentel and the other Sprint markets will be intertwined, but I would think that is unlikely.

  17. We are not Sprint, but hobbists. We are now seeing small cells go live on the city of Columbus, but many suburbs will need to be overruled by the FCC before small cells arrive there to fill in weak spots in coverage. 3CA went live a couple of weeks ago and is only partially reflected in the latest rootmetrics report for Columbus where Sprint ranked #2. 18. I think you are correct. I am on the Royal Carribean Anthem of the Seas out of range of shore sites and just enabling airplane wifi and wifi calling on a LG V20 and LG G4 gives me those issues. I must also enable another voice to pickup GPS (domestic which then sees gsm). Just switching to GPS only is not good enough. Another interest twist is SCP also seems to cause problems with Wi-Fi calling on both phones. Exit SCP and Wi-Fi Calling fully works. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  19. I agree that they should start with the shorter height poles first. The 120ft seem to be existing site replacements and all have failed around Columbus and they kill the shorter height ones with them. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  20. Virtually all densification is currently B41. B25 is generally referred to as refarming. The new B41 options at existing sites covered above come in at a far lower cost, thus should be able to be deployed where needed by Sprint (they will try refarming first, which does double speeds at the edge).
  21. Don't forget that the cost of bringing b41 to small cities and towns has dramatically dropped. These solutions can be deployed at existing sites ( http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4825-columbus-market-mapspreadsheet-premier-edition/page-108&do=findComment&comment=485655 ) or as stand-alone small cells if there is no 8T8R sites nearby (Nokia or Airspan).

  23. Sprint Montana License update On 2/22/17 a technical document labeled "link budget supplement" was added: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/attachments/attachmentViewRD.jsp;ATTACHMENTS=BCv8YzWThLhK1zgQjh11wWFTcrQSr3XQjLmCVXTQT0SPG2qgCBnG!-55596135!-1680248972?applType=search&fileKey=304721726&attachmentKey=20094125&attachmentInd=applAttach The next day the status was returned to "Offlined for Expired License Review". I checked another area where we have confirmed the LTE to be usable this past summer and have GCIs etc. It was given the same treatment.
  24. Don't forget that poles are measured in their entirely. You have to add what is buried to what you see above ground to get pole length. These small cells also appear to be deployed on the opposite side of the street from the power poles. This is also true for Verizon small cells in most cases.
