Here's some pictures from a Dish install here in Louisville. Per the plans this is spec'd to have the JMA antennas but I believe these are something from Commscope. Its possible they can't get enough of the JMA antenna fast enough so they are subbing with these. This is what I've seen used in all the Dish sites I've found so far. I don't have an exact count but I'd say there are 20-30 around Louisville now.

Site differences could also be regional or market.  The RRHs appear distinctive as well as the platform for the rack.

Have you managed to get any signal from them yet?

I can now see the pics in the first post, but not the second one.  Very interesting thus far.

I went back through and re-saved them again, then opened it up in a different browser and clicked on image to new tab  and they all say imgur just like last time.  Hopefully this works.  Reminders me of when Google backs you up a version in sheets presumably due to a server error or I am simply rusty.  This site is nearby, so I can get more photos of the antennas quite easily and with greater detail with a DSLR if desired.  I will try to get some of the bottom rack labels and ports.

I tried so many avenues.. kept getting different answers as to why I had to call a different number. Chat, Twitter, magic box, regular support.. finally got someone to open a tech support ticket for it. Apparently nobody knows what a CellSpot or an Airave is, and when I finally got someone who did, they couldn't access my account because it's SWAC.

Supposedly I'm getting a callback eventually, but I'm not optimistic. They basically said the coverage map showed good service in my area (it's a farce.. can't even make calls driving through town) so there was nothing they could do besides troubleshoot my device. Nobody would listen to my claims that my indoor coverage got even worse when I switched to TNX. 1X800 wasn't great but at least MMS/SMS worked. Now I can't even get that. Wifi calling works, but SMS/MMS doesn't seem to work unless I have a mobile connection also. The texting issue is my only real problem at home.

We don't demand that you stay with a carrier that does not work for you. Many of us have moved to other carriers or have multiple carriers on multiple phone and/or multiple sims on unlocked phones.

If later you desire occassional connections, I go with Tello for $7 per month for T-Mobile, $5 with Red Pocket for Verizon and AT&T. 5G speedtests (rare) have caused me to start increasing this. Went with $15 for Boost Mobile.

Frreeing yourself to go with other carriers could also make it easier to talk to retensions, which could get you your cellspot. Alternatively, maybe a locoal corporate store could help. They could do a driveby to verify your claims.

  4. Here are some more photos of the above site.  I was told they had not put up the antennas yet.  But if they are in a rush, one team may be responsible for the antennas.  Typically a site prep crew is responsible for the underground conduit, concrete pad, and cabinet placement, which is what these guys were doing.

Staring from the top, which is T-Mobile:

    Middle is Sprint:

IMO the bottom is likely Dish  (Boost Mobile, etc):

  5. Found a new Boost Mobile/ Dish site going up within my range.  Very friendly crew. They said in my area 2000 of these sites are going up and they have been working seven days a week for months.  These sites will not only service smart phones but also TVs over the same frequencies.  The plan is to eliminate satellite dishes on people's homes. I also think this could put them in the ISP business.

They allowed me to take pictures:

  6. This phone's chipset supports VoNR, which I previously thought was limited to the s21 series with its 888 chipset.  This will greatly increase this phone's functionality with T-Mobile soon and certainly extend its useful life.  https://corp.mediatek.com/news-events/press-releases/mediatek-announces-dimensity-720-its-newest-5g-chip-for-premium-5g-experiences-on-mid-tier-smartphones  I did not notice this before (others may have).

I found this article to be fascinating.

    https://wirelessestimator.com/articles/2021/rf-signage-placement-row-heads-to-nj-court-after-landlord-refuses-t-mobile-site-access/

Building on which T-Mobile is located refusing to allow T-Mobile to upgrade its equipment unless both violates FCC rules and removes required signs, and otherwise does things not required in the lease.

Interesting that they are so far below FCC limits.

They just lit up their third and fourth 5GUC sites in Lake City, FL this week.  Two of the four sites are former Sprint only sites that they converted.  I consistently get over 400 Mbps on all the sites that they upgraded.

Sound like they are addressing band 41 density, which is my concern. Historically T-Mobile would give each site just the minimal number of bands it required. Now we just need the FCC to hold the 2.5 auction and for T-Mobile to score at least 100MHz contiguous across the county.

If DISH Wireless was operating now, how would this Amazon Outage affect the current contract and quality of service?

    https://www.theverge.com/2021/12/7/22822332/amazon-server-aws-down-disney-plus-ring-outage

I have heard rumors from several sources that it is starting to operate now in some very select places.  Once I get through their byzantine byod 5g process I hope to find a likely local example.

Ordered a factory unlocked.  Will report back on how it works on the various national networks (thru various MVNOs).  I figure it is a very good hunting phone.  Can use the band selector app, so root not typically needed.  Of course no mmWave, but that is $$$$$ for a s21 or $$$$ for a Pixel 6. If it does not work as intended, I can return it by January 8.

Actually, the factory unlocked version with the latest software update, shows additional NR for 66 and 77 with AT&T MVNO Sim. On some other Samsung phones, it has been reported that once you unlock the T-Mobile phone and insert a different sim, you don't get all the same bands as the factory unlocked.  I expect this phone to behave the same way.

    When I put in a T-Mobile MVNO sim into the factory unlocked I got the following bands: 13, 25 & 26 as expected and adds bands 14, 29, 30, & 71.

On The NR side with this sim I got 2, 5, 25, 41, 66, 71, 77, 78.  So from a Boost Mobile standpoint it would miss NR70, but has NR 66 and 71 that are in trial.

The Android security patch level is Sept 1 rather than Nov 1 on the T-Mobile firmware (Samsung unlocked is typically older for all models).

    Note: n78 is a sunset of n77.
