  1. What software were you using for this map?
  2. Band 26 and 41 Alert suggestions Band 41 - Allow user to plug in the GCI market plus have some alert sound. Document away that it would only work in their market. Logically, the current Clearwire GCI market is different from Sprint GCI market in the same area, or at least enough to make this work. Band 26 - Allow user to put in a starting and ending number for GCI sector for an alert sound. This way they could get Band 26 and possibly future NV band 41 or LTE 600. Especially true with NV multiple GCIs per site rather than legacy 03,04,05 GCI sectors. Simpler method is to just go for band 26 alert with 0F to 11 hardcoded.
  3. Using Microsoft Excel version 14.0.7106.5003 (32-bit) Part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Product ID:02257-210-5811686-49586 (My goal was not to test every production version of Excel, although I do have them all) One of the several problem GCIs was 08609E01 From my testings for this post as it was (including typo): The first row is the default header, the second row is the unmodified record, the third is a record that should work because the GCI value is in quotes, and then other text options. The GCI should be appearing as 08609E01 without quotes. Here it is in a test file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zg91rbzthah2lsq/signal%20detector%20test%20quotes%20or%20not.csv Download the file and double click on it, which should cause Excel to convert it. I was trying to see if there was a way to program around it. My conclusion was that it should just be documented.
  4. lordsutch, I love the logging capabilities of this app. 1) Could you make it so the screen matches the log, ie replace "missing" with GCI data when possible. Some of this may be because my G2 triband phone does connect even when registered = 0 (i.e.: 60mbps+ downloads, etc.) 2) Any way to change the orientation of the map? I am used to driving towards the top of the map. 3) Can the map use a .kml file? If so, how? Thank you very much!!
  5. If you see something like 8.22E+03 in your log files and you used Excel, you are seeing an Excel .CSV conversion problem. I tried numerous workarounds with the data. None worked. Microsoft has chosen to ignore the post-facto standards and fully processes the .csv file fields even if the text was sent in quotes. It sees numbers with an "E" and thinks scientific notation. Numerous people and firms have this problem with such things as product codes and serial numbers. Microsoft doesn't care, label your file as .txt and use their wizard they say. Office Libre' and Open Office are reported not to have this problem.
  6. Shoveled one person out of the street and back onto her driveway. I will post some items on the sponsor forum while we wait for our plow...
  7. You were on Band 41 which is sometimes possible without the spark update: Band 41 LTE has not been officially launched in Columbus yet, but they do occasionally turn it on for all g2 and other triband phones users to see (provided the bands are enabled). No spark update is required. Most of the time band 41 will not be visible to triband phones in regular mode and all bands enabled. This Sprint network behavior will continue even with the spark update. Once Columbus is officially announced as a Spark City by Sprint, all band 41, 25, and possibly even band 26 sites will be available to all triband phones. Then the spark update will be quite useful. Triband phones like the g2 do not display address info for LTE. They do display this for 3G from information provided by the tower, but this is not always accurate. Older LTE phones appear to match LTE with the 3G information because they keep both Sprint signals up, which uses more battery power. The g2 and other tribands switch from one Sprint signal to the other to save on battery. The information COZisBack provided on Cell locations was accurate. His description of how to determine the band from the engineering screen is also universally applicable (00F only applies to Band 41 in Columbus). Please remember that we are all volunteers. We do this for our own joint (community) benefit. Trying new technology can be frustrating at times. Generally speaking, I have found that the golden rule works best: treat others as you would like to be treated.
  8. Congratulations on being announced (ie official). What percentage of completion for band 25 (1900) LTE would you say you have? 40%, 60%, 80% Curious if Milwaukee or Madison has band 41 TD-LTE usable by phones such as the G2? (no sites names or specific locations please) If so, is it public or hidden? I am just trying to see what may happen in Columbus in the future. Thanks!!
  9. Not required but the spark update is believed to add more, as covered in this thread (we are still finding out). the most important item it adds is official Sprint support. [Took me 25 minutes to post this? Must have got interrupted. Sorry for duplicate. Not required = several levels of manual settings]
  10. All the details you desire are covered in the premier section.
  11. Mike, did you see this post in the g2 section? http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4886-lg-g2-users-thread/page-159&do=findComment&comment=273586 That makes 02F and 00F for new york and columbus band 41. Far to early to tell but maybe the third character can determine if it is band 41? Also was curious if you have ever heard of a LTE GCI with this type of structure: LTE GCI of 8.22E+03 with a PCI of 270, and then I also got a LTE GCI of 8.22E+05 with a PCI of 275. Remote location of course and not fully paying attention to this at the time. Thanks
  12. My bad on the typo. 5s is what has found it so far. My understanding is 5c is theoretically possible. Yes they are pushing the G2 for $0.00, although the same for the 5c and galaxy s4 mini (triband).
  13. Yeah, were hoping to get 800 LTE (band 26) like our iPhone 5 brethen. Found any yet?
  14. What band are you now on?
  15. First I assume you have lookout or something better installed on your phone for anti-virus, etc. I had a phone from motorola that sound like yours -- various rf problems, but difficult to prove. If you are the 14 day period, trade it in. Otherwise if you have phone insurance and a good sprint rep that you treat well, they will take care of you. Be certain to backup regularly, especially before this update. This update may either fix your issues or kill your phone [or just leave it the same].
  16. Last time I think it took about 10 days to distribute to all G2 users.
  17. Great!! Now does it still work? (At least on my phone they removed the stated ability to turn off band 25 with the last update, but the prompt remained the same). Any emerging sites or sites hidden to a G2 in your area?
  18. Thanks for the notice. Did you notice that icons was plural. Does that mean a different for each band, or perhaps you get to choose the spark icon?
  19. Attention G2 Users!!! The spark update was released early this morning: http://support.sprint.com/support/article/Find_and_update_the_software_version_on_your_LG_G2/WServiceAdvisory_542_GKB55011?INTNAV=SU:DP:OV:UG:LgG2:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourLgG2 (credit: The Dave) It may take 10 days for you to get this update, which is randomly determined by Google. In a spark market you will get all three bands, which gives you high speed (band 41), better building penetration and distance (band 26), and traditional LTE (band 25). Columbus is not a spark market (yet.) Currently you will only see some 1900 LTE(band 25) sites in Columbus and more in most of the surrounding communities. We currently have 44 band 41 spark sites in Columbus, but special techniques are required to regularly see them (these techniques are currently being retested with latest release). On infrequent occasions band 41 sites will be visible to a spark enabled G2. If your phone says it is on band 50, that means it is idle (has no LTE). More detailed information is available to sponsors. All information is available to premier members. This post will be edited as events change in Columbus for G2 phones as more LTE sitea are being added each week.
  20. You are in a spark market, our is just emerging, but the tips in my signature still may help you. Most of the priority settings have no effect. Confirm that your priorities are working the way you think with ##debug# LTE engineering just after you force the connection to reset (LTE Discovery is your friend for resetting a g2 connection.)
  21. Network signal changes in an emerging market are generally good news of new site abilities coming on line, such as 4G. None in my part of town and we have no new towers. I did notice on Sunday that a hidden band 25 LTE tower to the north had dramatically increased in strength covering almost all of lane avenue from star to 315, overpowering nearby band 41 LTE which was previously dominate. A check under a bridge showed the band 41 LTE was at the same strength, thus it was proven that the band 25 was stronger or reoriented.
  22. I think the various flavors of the G2 perform differently, yet many of these tests assume they are the same. On the other hand, stlman314 might be like a Prius owner who gets 80mpg ( the best of the best (Sir!) at squeezing the most out the battery, or it could be golden, or both).
  23. So how do BIDs related to PNs? Might have the answer in my 1x800 and other related hint data, but that will have to wait for later. Meanwhile I may have found a new 1x800. Posted it here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4742-columbus-market-mapspreadsheet/page-87&do=findComment&comment=269201
  24. Thanks very much for this series of awesome questions and even better answers. Now I have a better grasp on what my G2 is reporting for 1x800 when it does not have a BSL. Maybe I soon can leave my Photon 4g's 1x800. Of course being mainly an LTE hunter, the bid notion makes sense to me -- but that might be my handicap in this case. Likely need a bit more hand holding for 1x800 reporting at some point.
  25. suggestion: implement the ability to show a note for a site (#7 on checksignal pro to do features request list), then accepted and confirmed band 41 and band 26 sites locations could be displayed for members. This would especially help tri-band phone users (other than Samsung with no GCI) and would buy you time to find the best method. for example for GCI 00F0D0 display "Band 41(2600) LTE - Highland Ave, Valley View, OH" The files could come from the spreadsheets in some fashion, perhaps obscured a bit as above.
