The flowing cities are now showing new Spark Coverage:

    California: Sacramento, Los Angeles,

    Colorado: greater Denver

    Michigan: greater Flint

Minnesota: greater Minneapolis Saint Paul Metro

    Nevada: Las Vegas

Ohio: greater Columbus Metro, greater Cleveland Metro, greater Youngstown, Tiffin, Medina/Wadsworth, Dover/New Philadelphia

    Utah: Ogden/Provo

Washington: greater Seattle, including Everett and Tacoma

    Wisconsin: Sheboygan

    Please add any I missed

This is a mixture of Clear Spark and Sprint Spark site coverage.  It is somewhat exaggerated in some cases, not as extensive as it should be in other cases.

  2. Mike and others,

Other apps such as Signal Detector and LTE Discovery also get null GCI, GCI & PCI, or RSRP from time to time.  Most frequently at the start or end of a connection to a site.  I just consider these as incomplete.  Occasionally you will also get GCI of FFFFFFFF, usually just one record at a time.  Rarely a sector will only broadcast GCI FFFFFFFF for a short period of time.

  3. I am running a G2 which I love but I'm always open to getting something new. I feel like the only next gen choices are giant phablets or and iPhone 6.

The G3 to me is slightly too large and appears to be not a large enough incentive to jump to from the G2.

I was banking on the Sony Z3 but it appears Sprint is missing out on it. I thought Sprint's lineup would be better with Softbank but it seems like the only new device so far as a result is the Sharp.

After the Z3 announcement (or lack thereof), I started banking on the next Nexus but that thing is an absolute monster. The device is way too big for me. Same with the Note 4.

The Verizon Droid Turbo is 100% what I'm looking for, but it appears to be a Verizon exclusive. Sprint should work some magic to get their version with similar specs and brand it the next "Photon".

Do you think next year that devices will be getting even bigger? G3 appears to be selling quite well, and I'm sure the Nexus 6 will too.

Phablets are no problem for me, although 1080p is enough resolution. Extra battery capacity would be great -- as long as the phone is popular I should be able to get that third party.  I do need the extra storage so optional SD-ram card slot is required.  Not worth buying without CA unless pressed for a replacement.  3GB RAM minimum given Google does not want most apps to close and many will come back to life if you kill them.  I just keep waiting, each phone so far has a flaw compared to my desires....

  4. Nice ! Is this Sprint's network or another company on the roaming partners deal ?

Yes, i know it says "Sprint LTE" at the top of your screen, but I thought it also did ( on my phone ) when I was roaming on that other company's LTE  near WV... the one company that uses the same equipment as Sprint .. ??? cant remember the name.... Arghhh

  5. The Sprint  coverage map was updated to 10/10.  Previously updated on 10/9 and 9/11, so we have a likely have more changes.  Duluth MN shows LTE along with Sacramento CA.  Fresno CA still shown as 3G, but likely no longer true (waiting for market launch). The Samsung portion of Sprint is really done with NV except cleanup and GMOs, both dependent on backhaul.   If you live in an unlaunched market, please review map and comment. http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp?INTNAV=SJS:HE:Cov

In Ohio, the Hocking Hills continues to show LTE which is not accurate.  Coshocton has LTE, but is shown as 3G only.  The LTE specks shown are likely true, as Band 26 LTE appears on many hilltops in the southern part of the state, however 1x800 covers even more and likely under-reported based on my travels.  US Route 23  now has extensive 1x800 coverage from Cambridge to Stuebenville OH, thanks to Wintersville (it's LTE not on map) and many sites along I-70 adding 1x800 (most are not documented well since they belong to Pittsburgh -- a market without a spreadsheet).  The gaps on US 23 are mainly around Piedmont Lake to Cadiz. As soon as you are on the freeway east of Cadiz heading east you are covered by 1x800.  Sensorly's coverage of 1x800 is questionable.

  6. i took your advice and zoomed in to where it showed different color gradients and it did change a bit but shows most of the area in the "best" category i am in lima and around it daily and you cant get 4G LTE anywhere inside or out of lima at this point. i only have my Note 3 which is single band but i have a few friends with Tri band phones and its the same.

Im not aggravated one bit. i know we have been waiting on backhaul since all of the towers were actually upgraded like 6 months ago. i am just a bit peeved that whoever makes the maps jumped the gun and decided to add all that 4G LTE when there never was any.

When people in my area look at this and go OOO 4GLTE FROM SPRINT? and find out its not true sprint could have a bit of a backlash from the people around here. not to mention its borderline false advertising to wich other more pro active people may take up with the FCC or BBB. (not me though to lazy lol)

They did the same in the Hocking Hills southeast of Columbus.
  7. I haven't been around here in a while. Been enjoying my G2 this summer. I have read something dated 8/22 that the G2 is supposedly going to receive Android L at some point in the future and, perhaps even more interesting, an update to the G3's UI. Then I read later, dated 8/24, that it was "confirmed" that the G2 will NOT be receiving a G3 UI update.

Does anyone have new information to clear up the previous, contradictory rumors?

    Also interested in this. Thanks
  8. In Chicagoland, the pattern is for B25/B26 GCIs to be 07Exxxnn, while B41 8T8R is 07Fxxxnn (i.e., the market identifier is incremented by 1).  Columbus reports the same (I don't remember their market IDs).

Columbus Market GCI Market IDs are 086 for B25/B26, 087 for Sprint B41 (00F for Clear B41).

...Of course, the dratted site ID is different for the B41 stuff (for example, 07E19300 for a B25 north-facing sector vs. 07F5E300 for B41 facing north on the same site). No one has yet reported if the site ID offset (F5E3-E193 = hex 1450) is a constant or varies wildly like the B25/B26 site IDs themselves vary.  This will likely have to come from someplace like Columbus where they have identified and charted the sites,

You need to know your GCI pattern, including high capacity LTE sites (more than one GCI assigned).   Chicago should just take the leap and do a spreadsheet.  Look at Cincinnati as an example, they just started a few months ago.  Plenty of guys like me also go through Chicago on occasion and can provide more data (I have some stored but unreleased).  Given the different less predicable signal characteristics of B41, where you can sometimes get -85db at the edge because of wider channels and MIMO, it would be very useful to have a spreadsheet to speed the site identification process.

For Columbus COZisBack figured out as +1450hex (including market GCI) or pattern shift, but that is just based on three sites identified by triangulation with sectors.  We need more Sprint b41 to go live to be 100% positive.  8T8R installation continues at a fast pace, so hopefully soon.

  9. I keep hoping that the two sites in Wintersville Ohio, just 45 minutes away from downtown Pittsburgh by freeway,  will get upgraded to NV soon.  This is the largest concentration of legacy sites left in Ohio.  At least one of these sites has had the RRHs and antennas installed for months. 1x800 could really help along US 22 as the freeway continues to Cadiz. :)

:sunny: Wintersville now NV: https://network.sprint.com/search/wintersville%2C+oh/ :thx:

  10. Did you guys see this from US Cellular:

'The carrier recently disclosed that it is working to sell additional "non-strategic assets." Specifically, the company said it is now selling 595 non-strategic cell towers "in areas outside of its core market focus." The company said Wells Fargo Securities and TD Securities are managing the potential sale.'   Source: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/us-cellular-launches-m2m-pricing-and-solutions-plans-tower-sale/2014-09-11

I would assume they sold the real estate long ago, or are they that far behind?

  11. The word is both Clear and Sprint b41 LTE work is to continue here in Columbus, since they were already started, plus many other markets.  High priority is not supposed to mean only priority as we understand it. Saw Clear B41 testing Sunday night and we continue to find new sites for both.  Sprint launched one Sprint 41 market, although it is likely still being tested for carrier aggregation and other factors. We have Sprint B41 equipment installed in some amazing places in our market -- it's urban, rural, and small towns.

As of September 13 we had 95 Clear Band 41 LTE sites seen operating in Columbus, being tested at various times, plus 66 Sprint b41 equipment installation plus many more permits.  For details, see the premier forum.

If you find new B41 LTE signal (see signature below to ensure it is new), feel free to post it in the highest forum you belong to -- you will get credit for it.  You can also post Sprint B41 8T8R sites for credit, again in the highest forum level you can access, but only premier members get to see the overall map (without premier members this site would go bankrupt and cease to exist).
